Cascais is a coastal town and a municipality in Portugal, 30 kilometres (19 miles) west of Lisbon. It is a cosmopolitan suburb of the Portuguese capital and one of the richest municipalities in Portugal. Its population was 205,117 at the 2011 census. The former fishing village gained fame as a resort for Portugal's royal family in the late 19th century and early 20th century. Nowadays, it is a popular vacation spot for both Portuguese and foreign tourists.

This outstanding, wonderfully maintained palace is the most excellent existing model of the colonial structural design in Lima. It was constructed in the year 1735 by Marques who worked as a treasurer with the Royal Spanish Fleet. The building is currently in use by the Foreign Ministry which explicates the many security forces being placed on the roof with machine guns. Sadly admission is limited towards the inner courtyard. On the other hand it is still an appeal to visit even if it is simply from outside across the street. The palace has a gorgeous fascia with a attractive rococo stone door bordered by 2 outstandingly carved balconies made out of dark-wood. Read more about Torre Tagle Palace travel guides

Adventure seekers can have thrilling experience by indulging into river rafting or white-water rafting as it is commonly called in Himachal Pradesh. The snow fed rivers in the state that swiftly rush down the slopes of the Himalayan ranges offer easy to tough challenges to the rafters. The four major destinations where rafting enthusiasts can enjoy this exhilarating sport are rivers Chandrabhaga (Chenab) in Lahaul, the Satluj near Shimla, the Ravi near Chamba and the Beas near Kullu.

More information about Kunming lake and the Summer Palace in Beijing can be found at my website: www.abookaboutchina.com/location/Summer-Palace

Kunming Lake (昆明湖) forms the centre of the Summer Palace gardens in Beijing, China. In fact, the lake takes up most of the parks area, covering 2.2 square kilometres or three quarters of the garden grounds. The lake is relativly shallow, with a depth of just 1.5 mtres. The lake is largely man made though a small pond existed on the site before development. The lake was created by Guo Shoujing, originally as a reservoir for the nearby capital, during the Yuan dynasty (1291). The area was converted into the imperial garden between 1750 and 1764, during the reign of Emperor Qianlong. Work was undertaken to expand the existing lake at that time. The spoil from excavating the lake was used to form the nearby Longevity Hill. The lake develops a thick lair of ice during the winter, during which time it can be used for skating. In the summer, a large number of small boats cover the lake.

This eclectic edifice was built between 1856 and 1860 according to the wishes of Archduke Maximilian of Habsburg (later to become Emperor of Mexico), and planned by Carl Junker. The interior furniture and decorations are genuine period pieces. The extensive park (22 hectares) is located on the seashore and was designed by the Archduke. The cliff it was built on, which had no vegetation whatsoever at the time, was cultivated with numerous tropical species of trees and plants.

AVisitors to the castle will be able to see the following: Maximilian's chambers and those of his consort, Carlota of Belgium; the guest rooms; the information room telling the history of the Castle and the Park's construction; the Duke Amadeo of Aosta's apartment with furnishings from the 1930's in the Rationalist style. All the rooms still feature the original furnishings, ornaments, furniture and objects dating back to the middle of the 19th century. Particularly noteworthy are the music room where Carlota used to play the fortepiano, now on show in room VII. In room XIX there are a series of paintings by Cesare dell'Acqua depicting the history of Miramare. Lastly, visitors may visit the throne room, which was recently restored and brought back to its former splendour.

parterreThe park offers the public a chance for an interesting stroll among botanical species and an important collection of sculptures dotted along its numerous paths. A visit should also be paid to the Stables, a building which was recently restored and is now used for temporary exhibitions; the Old Greenhouses and the Little Castle, with its original decoration on the first floor, are also well worth a visit.

The spectacular Edo-Tokyo Museum, whose design is inspired by the traditional Japanese rice loft, is home to a striking depiction of the history of Tokyo over the centuries.

A fascinating journey through time with painstaking reproductions of homes of samurai and craftsmen, replicas of a kabuki theatre, the old red-light district and emblematic landmarks such as Nihonbashi Bridge.

The Edo-Tokyo Museum (江戸東京博物館 Edo Tōkyō Hakubutsukan) is a museum of the history of Tokyo during the Edo period. It was established in 1993. The main features of the permanent exhibitions are the life-size replica of the Nihonbashi, which was the bridge leading into Edo; the Nakamuraza theatre; and scale models of towns and buildings from the Edo, Meiji and Shōwa periods.

The museum is adjacent to the Ryōgoku Kokugikan. It was designed by Kiyonori Kikutake. The distinctive elevated shape of the museum building is modelled after an old storehouse in the kurazukuri style.
