This pretty little Chapel is situated at the foot of the Teton Mountains.
The Chapel of the Transfiguration is a small log chapel in Grand Teton National Park, in the community of Moose. The chapel was sited and built to frame a view of the Cathedral Group of peaks in a large window behind the altar. The chapel, which was built in 1925, is owned and operated by St. John's Episcopal Church in Jackson.[2][3]
"And after six days Jesus took with him Peter and James and John, and led them up a high mountain apart by themselves; and he was transfigured before them" (Mark 9:2).
The modern basilica is by the great architect of the Holy Land sites, Antonio Barluzzi. It was built in the early 20th century on the ruins of an ancient (4th–6th-century) Byzantine church, and a 12th-century church of the Crusader Kingdom period.

The current church of the Transfiguration was completed in 1924. The architect was Antonio Barluzzi. It was built on the ruins of an ancient (4th–6th-century) Byzantine church and a 12th-century church of the Crusader Kingdom period.

The Chapel of the Transfiguration is located within Grand Teton National Park on property owned and maintained by St. John's Episcopal Church of Jackson, Wyoming. The chapel is one of the most visited religious structures in America and has been seen and admired by thousands of tourists from all over the world who have visited the Tetons each summer since the chapel was built in 1925. The chapel was purposely built in the center of the dude ranch country. It was erected through private contributions as a venture of faith, and is an example of how the early settlers in the valley met their needs by sharing resources. The land was donated by Maud Noble, money was donated by the dude ranches, and labor was donated by those the chapel would serve.

Kizhi Pogost is a historical site dating from the 17th century on Kizhi island. The island is located on Lake Onega in the Republic of Karelia (Medvezhyegorsky District), Russia. The pogost is the area inside a fence which includes two large wooden churches (the 22-dome Transfiguration Church and the 9-dome Intercession Church) and a bell-tower. The pogost is famous for its beauty and longevity, despite being built exclusively of wood. In 1990, it was included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage sites and in 1993 listed as a Russian Cultural Heritage site.

The Church of the Transfiguration, Kizhi, Island, Lake Onega, Russia.
The Church of the Transfiguration is the most remarkable part of the pogost. It is not heated and is, therefore, called a summer church and does not hold winter services. Its altar was laid June 6, 1714, as inscribed on the cross located inside the church. A legend tells that the main builder used one axe for the whole construction, which he threw into the lake upon completion with the words "there was not and will be not another one to match it".
The church has 22 domes and with a height of 37 meters is one of the tallest wooden buildings of the Russian North. Its perimeter is 20×29 meters.
According to the Russian carpentry traditions of that time, the Transfiguration Church was built of wood only with no nails. All structures were made of scribe-fitted horizontal logs, with interlocking corner joinery — either round notch or dovetail — cut by axes. The basis of the structure is the octahedral frame with four two-stage side attachments. The eastern prirub has a pentagonal shape and contains the altar. Two smaller octagons of similar shape are mounted on top of the main octagon.
The structure is covered in 22 domes of different size and shape, which run from the top to the sides. The refectory is covered with a three-slope roof.
The church framework rests on a stone base without a deep foundation, except for the western aisle for which a foundation was built in 1870. Most wood is pine with spruce planks on the flat roofs. The domes are covered in aspen.
The iconostasis has four levels and contains 102 icons. It is dated to the second half of the 18th – early 19th century. The icons are from three periods: the two oldest icons, "The Transfiguration" and "Pokrov" are from the late 17th century and are typical of the northern style. The central icons are from the second half of the 18th century and are also of the local style. Most icons of the three upper tiers are of the late 18th century, brought from various parts of Russia.

TRANSFIGURATION CATHEDRAL, KIZHI ISLAND, RUSSIA.
1714. This awe-inspiring wooden church, built without nails, was made from pine cut in winter and dried for three to four years. It is crowned by 22 different sizes cupolas sheathed in 30,000 carved aspen shingles. These chingles are capable of reflecting a myriad of magical hues. The midday sun makes them shimmer like silver, while the light of dawn or dusk turns them a rich purple.
This necklace started as a ball bearing that came off of my boyfriend's "Nordic Track". Once cleaned up, it was a functional/industrial/beautiful object just waiting to be worn. I first built it into a ring, but that wasn't right. It then became a pendent- that was a little better. But I knew I had to build a blindingly brilliant necklace around it. Perfect.
Besides the ball bearing, I used lots of steel wire, and a shade of copper wire called "gun metal" (though it seems to have a brownish tone). Also in the mix: a silver filigree earring, fresh water pearls, mother-of-pearl buttons, rhinestones, screw eyes, glass beads, a giant embroidery needle, vintage chain, vintage buttons, a belt buckle, a 'chain maille' earring, and an intricate network of woven wire...Even with all that, I'm sure I left something out.

I've been getting people IMing me asking me how H:YS has been since me and a group of amazing new friends have taken over December of 2011. I've never got quite the time to sit back and actually look at the work that we've done or the new additions that we've made, but tonight I wanted to take some time off and snap a few shots of them to share with you guys.
We've basically expanded the work done by Hoggy, Light and Jin -- 3 architects who we can't thank enough of. Each of the classrooms have their own interior design now, some new areas have been erected as well as dorms. However, with that in mind, we're still a brand new sim and have a ton to learn and grow from, but our doors are always open to those who love JK Rowling and the world she has created.
A huge thanks to Corwin, Soapie, Jazzy, Juniper and Elidon for being a great admin team to work with. Corwin especially who has kept me sane in times when I feel slightly high on caffeine. The ALOs for their constant hard work on application, the RPDs, Prefects and Professors who have contributed so much ideas and joy to the sim. And finally and most importantly to the members who constantly keep us alive and enjoying what we do. H:YS has been a side of SL I never explored before, and it's taught me a great deal number of things and ventured me off to scripting and building -- things I dabbled with but never seriously done. OH and how can I forget Sue, who's constantly on Skype hearing me moan and groan and scream and wriggle.
So enough blabbing and back to work for me! But I hope we'll hold an OOC preview soon so people can come on in and explore the new areas. Thanks for reading the rambling or looking at the pictures, we hope to keep expanding this place to its fullest potential!
