"Annual Honesty (Lunaria annua) is a tall (height about 1 m), hairy-stemmed biennial plant found throughout Europe, North America, and parts of Asia. It has large, pointed oval leaves with marked serrations. The common name "Honesty" arose in the 16th century, and it may be due to the translucent seed-pods which are like flattened pea-pods and borne on the plant through winter. In South-East Asia and elsewhere, it is called the Money Plant, because its seed pods have the appearance of silver coins. In the United States it may also be known as "Silver Dollars," also because of the seed pods." wikipedia

"Jesus took with him Peter and John and James and went up the mountain to pray. As he prayed, the aspect of his face was changed and his clothing became brilliant as lightning. Suddenly there were two men there talking to him; they were Moses and Elijah appearing in glory, and they were speaking of his passing which he was to accomplish in Jerusalem. Peter and his companions were heavy with sleep, but they kept awake and saw his glory and the two men standing with him. As these were leaving him, Peter said to Jesus, ‘Master, it is wonderful for us to be here; so let us make three tents, one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.’ – He did not know what he was saying. As he spoke, a cloud came and covered them with shadow; and when they went into the cloud the disciples were afraid. And a voice came from the cloud saying, ‘This is my Son, the Chosen One. Listen to him.’ And after the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone. The disciples kept silence and, at that time, told no one what they had seen."

The four temples Church (one of the few existing) of the Transfiguration of Jesus Christ sits on top of the southern part of Mount Youchtas (800 meters altitude) 15km south of Heraklion. Of the four temples the northernmost is dedicated to St Anargyri, the next to the St. Apostles, the third in the Jesus Christ Transfiguration and the southernmost, built in 1443, is dedicated to St. Zone.
i’ve been working so hard with this lovely figurine, not finding its rightful position with light. Having watched an amazing documentary with the great Master Raphael, and being stimulated by his genius, this is my emotional understanding of transfiguration.

About
Caleruega Philippines is a house of prayer and renewal. It is open to activities like retreats, recollections, prayer & renewal workshops, study, research, youth camps, marriage & family encounter celebrations, skills training, leadership seminars, art, music, and liturgy workshops and environment and agriculture-related activities.
Rising tall and majestic in the highest point of Caleruega is the Transfiguration Chapel. From here one can behold the expanse of Caleruega and witness the glorious opus of radiant nature – a symphony of sky, trees, and the distant hills of Batulao. Like St. Peter during Jesus’ transfiguration, anyone who experiences such splendor of nature’s poetry will declare: Lord, it is good for us to be here… (Mt.17:4).
The chapel itself is replete with symbolism. Its façade is a reproduction of the original chapel in Caleruega, Spain. Its hut-shaped roof is in remembrance of the temporary sheds that the apostles wanted to build for Jesus, Moses, and Elijah during the transfiguration (Mt 17:1-8). The seal of the Dominican Province of the Philippines is depicted in stained glass in the upper portion of the chapel’s façade. The seven grapevines entwined in the steel doors of the chapel not only portray Jesus as the vine and we as branches (John 15:5), but also symbolize the seven sacraments. The main altar is a carved tree trunk representing the “stem of Jesse,” mentioned in the Book of the Prophet Isaiah: then a shoot will spring from the stem of Jesse, and a branch from his roots will bear fruit (Is 11:1). The tabernacle is a gentle reminder of the burning bush through which God revealed Himself to Moses in Mt. Sinai (Ex 3:2). The birds carved on the communion table are representations of God’s providence in Matthew 6:26: Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, neither do they reap…and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. The stained glass depicts the Transfiguration of Jesus witnessed by Peter, John, and Luke. With Jesus are Moses and Elijah, two significant instruments of God in the Old Testament (Mat 17:3).

The Transfiguration Monastery (Bulgarian: Преображенски манастир, Preobrazhenski manastir) or the Monastery of the Holy Transfiguration of God (манастир "Свето Преображение Господне", manastir "Sveto Preobrazhenie Gospodne") is an Eastern Orthodox monastery located in the Dervent gorge of the Yantra River. It lies near the village of Samovodene, seven kilometres north of Veliko Tarnovo, in central northern Bulgaria. It is one of the five stauropegic monasteries of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church.
It is thought that the monastery was founded in the 11th century AD as a cloister of the Vatopedi monastery on Mount Athos. In 1360, when Tarnovo was the capital of the Second Bulgarian Empire and the traditions of hesychasm were popular in Bulgaria, it became an autonomous monastery on the order of Tsar Ivan Alexander of Bulgaria. This is legendarily tied to the charity of Ivan Alexander's second wife Sarah-Theodora and their son Ivan Shishman, a reason to also call the monastery Sarah's or Shishman's monastery
If you think you've seen this church in my stream before, it's because you have. Went out last weekend to do a bit of night shooting just north of Toronto and ended up here. This was an 8 second exposure. Best viewed larger.

"O God, who in the glorious Transfiguration
of your Only Begotten Son
confirmed the mysteries of faith by the witness of the Fathers
and wonderfully prefigured our full adoption to sonship,
grant, we pray, to your servants,
that, listening to the voice of your beloved Son,
we may merit to become co-heirs with him.
Who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever. Amen."

This fresco by Bl. Fra. Angelico, dates to 1439-43, and it is from the east corridor of the cells of the Dominican priory of San Marco in Florence.
Today, 6 August, is the feast of the Transfiguration. St Dominic is shown in this scene looking on. He died on 6 August in 1221 so he beheld Christ's glory in heaven, even as once he prayerfully contemplated it through this mystery of the Transfiguration.

"Jesus took with him Peter and James and John and led them up a high mountain where they could be alone by themselves. There in their presence he was transfigured: his clothes became dazzlingly white, whiter than any earthly bleacher could make them. Elijah appeared to them with Moses; and they were talking with Jesus. Then Peter spoke to Jesus: ‘Rabbi,’ he said ‘it is wonderful for us to be here; so let us make three tents, one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.’ He did not know what to say; they were so frightened. And a cloud came, covering them in shadow; and there came a voice from the cloud, ‘This is my Son, the Beloved. Listen to him.’ Then suddenly, when they looked round, they saw no one with them any more but only Jesus.
As they came down from the mountain he warned them to tell no one what they had seen, until after the Son of Man had risen from the dead. They observed the warning faithfully, though among themselves they discussed what ‘rising from the dead’ could mean."

Transfiguration of the Empire style church was built in the years 1836-1842, at the expense of the parishioners and donations. Basis is a pillar of the quadrangle, topped by a rotunda with eight windows.
The village of Radonezh on Pazha River has a long history and is well known because it is the exploits of St. Sergius (Bartholomew), received the nickname of Radonezh began here.
In the XV century Radonezh became a real town with a fortress, ramparts and three temples, the center of an independent principality.
The ancient village from the beginning of the XIX century attracted the attention of researchers. Largely due to the fact that back in 1820 managed to reconstruct the history of the village, in the 1960-ies it was decided the preservation of its monuments, including the Church of the Transfiguration. In 1974 the church was put under state protection. In 1988, next to the temple was a monument to St. Sergius of Radonezh by sculptor and architect V.M.Klykova R.I.Semerzhieva. In 1989, the village was renamed the town Radonezh. Now many pilgrims flock here, visiting places associated with life of one of the most respected and renowned Russian saints - St. Sergius of Radonezh. Under the mountain is a spring Sergius of Radonezh, in the same baptismal font
