An abandoned train station in upstate New York, as it appeared in 2019. The station will soon begin undergoing renovation as part of the adjacent Albany County (New York) Rail Trail, which follows an old Delaware and Hudson line.

A welded rail train running as W014-19 heads north through Romulus behind a Slug and Mother combo. The train was headed for Grand Rapids to lay new rail on the GR Terminal Sub.

The eastbound Rio Grande Ski Train exits Moffat Tunnel at East Portal, Colorado, on March 21, 1997. A pair (only three built and painted for D&RGW) of Rio Grande EMD GP60s power the passenger train, led by No. 3155.
Bland CSX train Q296 with about a thousand autoracks blasts under the Pennsy-era signals at MP 279, just east of downtown Indianapolis. Just look at that non-matching yellow touch up paint on the handrails. Classy!
The Corcovado Train (Portuguese: Trem do Corcovado) is a rack railway in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from Cosme Velho to the summit of the Corcovado Mountain at an altitude of 710 m (2,329 ft). The summit is known for its statue of Christ the Redeemer and its views over the city and beaches of Rio.
The line is 3.8 km (2.4 mi) long. It is a 1,000 mm gauge rack railway using the Riggenbach rack system. I took this shot over the shoulder of our driver as we passed a train descending from the mountain. The rolling stock was built by SLM of Winterthur in Switzerland.
There are four trains, each of two cars. Three of them are used simultaneously. The trip takes approximately 20 minutes and departs every 20 minutes, giving a capacity of 540 passengers per hour. Due to this limited capacity the wait at the entry station can be several hours.
The line has been ridden by many famous people, including Pope Pius XII, Pope John Paul II, Alberto Santos-Dumont, Albert Einstein, Diana, Princess of Wales and myself.
My brother in law has a Explore theory - "Every day Explore set must have a train photo". I decided to check that and started to look opurtunity to shot one.
This shot is combined with 2 photos taken with Samsung S4, first background shot in HDR mode and train in normal mode both combined in PS and processed in LR.
Though there isn`t much snow the ice and the cold on this January day kept most of society home bound.

Now used for tourist for rides through the Northern California Redwoods. It is called the Skunk Traini because back in the old days the fuel smelled like skunk spray.

The first limestone train of the spring into the Fairline plant at Forbes, Minnesota returns to Duluth lite power with a nice assortment of Proctor assigned older EMD power - April 11, 2023.
I usually like traveling by day, but I could definitely make an exception to travel this route by train.
