Sailboat top size 3 (lengthened) for Miss Lucy.
This top has been in the planning for quite some time - made with some special Kokka fabric from Millie, and buttons from Claire. The spot is a no name from my stash. Thank you both :-)
The inspiration for this top actually came from here - www.flickr.com/photos/motherof5/5125004368/in/set-7215762... - this is my favourite Sailboat top!
A lace top cami. I am wearing a skirted suit with the jacket off, exposing my white cami and skin color bra straps.

I had been regretting my decision to not buy Peanut Big Top for a while now, I bought Crumbs Sugar Cookie when Lalaloopsies were first released (well back then the packaging said Bitty Buttons) and I was very determined that she was going to be one and only Lalaloopsy ever. I ended up caving and buying Marina Anchors earlier this year which led to a flood of other Lalaloopsy purchases I sought out Peanut Big Top because she was my other favorite of the original girls but was never able to find her. I finally found her online for a good price last week and her purchase was quickly followed by the purchase of her little sister Squirt Lil' Top.
This spinning top is a quickie project anyone with a few tools and a little time could do in the home shop. I used a Taig lathe for 99% of the work, but a similar project could be done with a drill press and files. (It might even look better!)
The trick to making a top is that everything must Must MUST be co-axial. If you get something off-axis, the top wobbles. It's as simple as that.
To get things symmetric, I chucked some 1/8" brass rod in a collet chuck and cleaned up each end. A 1" diameter piece of Delrin was drilled through undersize, and the rod was pressed in. The whole thing went back in the collet chuck, and a bearing with a 1/8" ID was chucked up in the tailstock, and brought in to support the outboard end. The top was then turned down with a parting tool until everything more or less looked the way I wanted it. No real care was taken to hit exact diameters, but I did step the cuts by 0.050" with an 0.060" wide tool.
This top easily spins for over a minute. Makes a great present for a kid, young or old.
Of course there's more to tops than this. In essence they're finger-driven flywheels, so all the same calculations that can be used on flywheels can be used on tops as well. If you're after maximum efficiency, this top isn't it. Ever wonder why flywheels on steam engines were spoked? There's a critical point in the kinetic energy curve for a flywheel inside which having extra mass does you no good. You really want the mass out on the rim. Which is exactly the opposite of where the mass is on this one.
One of the most advanced spinning tops I've ever seen was the Quark, developed by Jim Lewis, the guy who started www.emachineshop.com - It had an outer rim made of brass, tungsten, or gold, and an inner core made of Delrin. If I remember right they had tungsten carbide tips. The real innovation with their top was that you could tune it for balance using weights inserted into pockets underneath the rim. Balancing was done using a laser pointer, which let you take out all the wobble in the top. They would easily spin for fifteen minutes or more.
They're still being made, and sold by Quirkle: www.quirkle.com/top/index.htm
They're clearly better than the one I made, but something tells me theirs took a lot longer to make.
Have fun in the shop!

Me matem?
6 - Show it and Glow it, OPI - Esse foi um que eu esperei, veio quebrado, esperei, chegou, usei e ganhou meu coração! Lindo, brilhante, perfeito! Só dá trabalho para tirar né? Hahaha
10 - Azulejo Português - Odeio a Risqué! Meu vidrinho tá acabando e vou sofrer orfã! =/
11 - Atenas, La Pogee - Meu amarelinho pastel lindo!
Hahaha
Beeeijo meninas! ;*
Ps: Desconsiderem qualquer erro, amanhã corrijo esse post! HAHAHA
I know Daria for a while now. We had a great shoot a couple of months ago. Recently we managed to do another one and it turned out just as awesome!

Ok so I am a little bit behind as I unexpectedly had to go out of town - family funeral - but I am trying to catch up as quickly as i can. Thank fully I had some stars made plus the main parts of the trees before I went away. This weekend I added the while fabric, tree trunks and pieced everything together. Just need to add some stars to the other end so I can get on with the quilting.
at the moment.
The first picture was shit, so I redid it.
I'm thinking this could be a sorta new bandwagon, like tag 5-10 people, and they have to post their Top 5 Albums at the moment.
Oh, and yes, that is a record, because Vinyl is freakin' badass.
There are doughnuts, and then there are DOUGHNUTS. Top Pot makes my favorite doughnuts. I'm sure the doughnuts you like are good, but they're not Top Pot doughnuts. How very sad for you. This photo was taken at the Wedgwood Top Pot. Super yum yum yummy.
My event gifts, given during registration. Closeup of my D60 event gift. Top view. 3 inch diameter glass paperweight in the shape of a cut diamond. Event logo and dates etched on the flat top.
I went to the Disneyland 60th Anniversary Diamond Celebration Merchandise Event at the Disneyland Hotel Convention Center today, on Wednesday May 20, 2015. I met up with a fellow collector at the event. We also went on a related trek to Downtown Disney to get DL60 merchandise that was not available at the event.
We lined up outside the entrance to the exhibit hall of the convention center at around 6:30 am. We were let in at 7 am. Displayed along the hallway where we lined up to get registered were all the merchandise that were available at the event, most of which was in the catalog and able to be pre-ordered.
After we registered for the event, we got a couple of nice gifts. One was a throw pillow decorated with an image of the first ticket to the opening of Disneyland to the general public on July 18, 1955, and on the reverse a greeting from Walt Disney. It is about 15'' L x 8'' W x 6'' D. The other was a glass paperweight/ornament in the shape of a cut diamond, in a blue velvet bag. On the bottom is the logo and dates for the event. It is 3'' in diameter and 2'' high, and very beautiful.
We went into a room where we got out pre-ordered merchandise. I had to make a couple of trips to my car to unload all my good. One was not ready yet, and is to shipped to my home. It is the Tinker Bell cel, with signed postcard and pin. It was the pin that wasn't ready yet. I did see the cel up close, and it is very beautiful. I got a nice surprise when my Snow White Scary Adventures framed canvas print was #2 of 95. It and the frame was very impressive up close. I helped my friend carry his goods to his hotel room.
After we returned, we went to the event "store" to order additional items. I took some photos of the silent auction items, which were mostly very rare or one of kind items related to Disneyland.
We then went to the World of Disney in Downtown Disney to look at and buy some DL60 goods, including the DL60 Doll, who is unnamed in the box. She has the face mold of Snow White, but has blue eyes and long blonde hair. I think she looks like Taylor Swift. The store was very busy with shoppers, most of which were buying DL60 goods. There was an amazing number and variety of DL60 merchandise, especially considering that May 22 is supposed to be real kickoff to the DL60 celebrations.
It was a fun and expensive day in Disneyland Resort. I was also there on Friday for the 24-hour event and kickoff to the formal DL60 celebrations.

Tired of the blatant misogyny in most Space! themes (such as Iron Reich or Fifth Conspiracy), the Phallus Manipulators Society, or PMS for short, was set up to thwart male minifigs from taking over the LEGOverse.

This top is based around the 'Bunting Scallop' fabric by Michael Miller, which was used on the sleeves and welt pockets, and inspired the neckline.
The rest of the top is ivory cotton, plus colourful cotton scraps from my stash. The pattern is 'Chloe' by Victory Patterns (shortened from a dress to a top).
