Toadfish faces are rather intricate with delicate foliage looking decorations.

The cooler, with two oyster toadfish fish inside, is all strapped into the back seat of the plane as TJ performs one final check before the flight back to the Science Center. "Please keep your seats in an upright position. In the event of a water landing you probably won't need a water floatation device like we will."

Taken right here off of the New Jersey Coast on one of our many wrecks. First and only time I ever saw a yellow one. The Scuba diver just happened to show up at the right time. It was a lucky shot.

A great blue heron flying by after snagging a toadfish in St. Andrews Bay, Panama City Beach, FL. If only I'd turned a litttttle more to my left! Still a really cool shot.

Distribution: Eastern Pacific Ocean along the West Coast of North America.

 

Habitat: Ranges from intertidal areas where they may remain out of water under rocks or seaweed to deeper water over sand and mud bottoms. Return to shallow intertidal waters to reproduce. Seasonally common in San Francisco, Suisun, and San Pablo Bays. Water planet Senses Cluster
