This was another shot for Day 196 that I was considering. Wished I hadn't cut his finger off at the top, but it was a pretty tight setup.

Call me crazy, but am I the only one who sees a face in this formation at Arches National Park in Moab, Utah?

Taken in Sanborn, NY this evening, 1/320, f/5.6, 200mm. God I wish I had a 300mmlens....next lens purchase??

..Infinity Bridge, Stockton-on-Tees, England.

Wanted to shoot this bridge for a while (after seeing photos on flickr), work took me to Darlington last night, so i had a little detour,.. if you seen a 'madman' on the bridge at 4am,.. it was me.

Think the qoute suits this? I do, very Buzz Lightyear moment ha.

Had tried this shot before with my old small tripod....needless to say, it didn't work haha.

Today decided I'd try it again and I think tis is a half decent result. Taken as I drove down The Main Street in Carrick. I parked at the start of the street, set the camera on aperature priority and timer mode. Metered an area outside the car and added +1/3 EV to avoid the bright lights tricking the meter. Then I set my camera on the tripod which I had set up with one leg on the backseat and two behind the front seats. I checked no cars were coming and pulled out slowly after I pressed the shutter. Simple after that, just drive slowly, don't want any movement or the tripod to fall :D

This is the result after 30 seconds.

guys, please give credit to either my flickr or my blog ( mick3ym0use.tumblr.com/ ), thank you.

Alberti explained and justified his method of perspective construction by using the metaphor of a window opening onto the outside space...

“Stylized view of Pioneer leaving Earth, passing Moon. Man will reach out beyond Mars to take the first close look at the planet Jupiter on the mission of the unmanned Pioneer F spacecraft, to be launched by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration from Cape Kennedy, Fla., between Feb. and March 1972. The trip to Jupiter will last less than two years, for most launch dates, with most arrival times before Dec. 31, 1973. Jupiter is a spectacular planet. It appears to have its own internal energy source and is so massive that it is almost a small star. Its volume is 1,000 times that of Earth, and it has more than twice the mass of all the other planets combined. Striped in glowing yellow-orange and blue-gray, it floats in space like a bright-colored rubber ball. It has a huge red “eye” in its southern hemisphere and spins more than twice as fast as Earth. Pioneer’s 13 scientific experiments are expected to provide new knowledge about Jupiter and many aspects of the outer solar system and our galaxy. It will return the first close-up images of Jupiter and will make the first measurements of Jupiter’s twilight side, never seen from Earth.”

These six narrow-angle color images were made from the first ever "portrait" of the solar system taken by Voyager 1, which was more than 4 billion miles from Earth and about 32 degrees above the ecliptic. The spacecraft acquired a total of 60 frames for a mosaic of the solar system which shows six of the planets. Mercury is too close to the sun to be seen. Mars was not detectable by the Voyager cameras due to scattered sunlight in the optics, and Pluto was not included in the mosaic because of its small size and distance from the sun. These blown-up images, left to right and top to bottom are Venus, Earth, Jupiter, and Saturn, Uranus, Neptune. The background features in the images are artifacts resulting from the magnification. The images were taken through three color filters -- violet, blue and green -- and recombined to produce the color images. Jupiter and Saturn were resolved by the camera but Uranus and Neptune appear larger than they really are because of image times. Earth appears to be in a band of light because it, coincidentally lies right in the center of the scattered light rays resulting from taking the image so close to the sun. Earth was a crescent only 0.12 pixel in size. Venus was 0.11 pixel in diameter. The planetary images were taken with the narrow-angle camera (1500 mm focal length).

I've merged 2 shots here in photoshop and poterized it...my night shots of the castle were a bit hit and miss. The "romantic ruins" sign was projected on the wall in the entrance.

I'm also going to use this shot for this week's Flickr Friday theme

My sons favorite Disney (Pixar) character since he was a very small child has been Buzz Lightyear. Our trip to the Walt Disney World Resort allowed him to 'fulfill his childhood' (his own words) and meet Buzz and even get his picture made with him. It would be impossible to try to determine how many times we've watched Toy Story but when that's the favorite, that's what you do!!

Shot at the Latrabjarg cliffs on the western edge of Iceland. I composed the shot with the edge of the cliff and the water and just waited for a bird to fly in. It came out perfectly. I love how the water disappears into the fog and it has nice grain.

52 weeks: 2013 edition

I was looking through my favourites for inspiration this week, and when I saw B.E.K.'s Darth Pez, I just had to make this Buzz Lightyear version. Unfortunately it turns out Buzz just isn't quite as cool as Darth (sorry Buzz, but I'm afraid it's true)..
