One night Before the Maximum of the Geminids, I captured more than 20 meteors in 140 minutes. What a great meteor shower!
Photo details: Camera Model: Canon EOS 6D;Focal Length: 24mm; Aperture: f/1.8; Exposure Time: 15 s for each shot; ISO: 8000, more than 20 exposure are stacked.

Just had a load of films developed dating back to march, so working my way through it pretty much chronologically.
epic thanks to Tom for the loan of his scanner.
Shot through the arches of Balcome Viaduct, just outside Haywards Heath in West Sussex. Fantastic old Victorian viaduct, 1474 feet long and 96 feet high it's in use on the main London to Brighton line and around 110 trains a day pass over it. You have to cross a plowed field to get underneath the structure and we've had a lot of rain just lately, I also only had my trainers on - result very wet and muddy feet and almost the embarrassment of landing on my backside in front of a packed commuter train.
This is another exposure fusion shot of three exposures at -2, 0 and +2 EV, originally shot in colour and converted to B+W after fusion. I also did a bit of selective dodging and burning as even after fusion there were a couple of areas that needed tweaking.
HSS folks!
[taken at Medina Azahara museum, Córdoba, Spain]
Medina Azahara, meaning "brilliant town" is the ruins of a vast, fortified Arab Muslim medieval palace-city built by Abd-ar-Rahman III al-Nasir, (912–961) Ummayad Caliph of Córdoba, and located on the western outskirts of Córdoba, Spain.
It was an Arab Muslim medieval town and the de-facto capital of al-Andalus, or Muslim Spain, as the heart of the administration and government was within its walls. Built beginning in 936-940, the city included ceremonial reception halls, mosques, administrative and government offices, gardens, a mint, workshops, barracks, residences, and baths. Water was supplied through aqueducts.
The main reason for its construction was politico-ideological: the dignity of the Caliph required the establishment of a new city, a symbol of his power, imitating other Eastern Caliphates. Above all, it demonstrated his superiority over his great rivals, the Fatimids of Ifriqiya in Northern Africa. Legend also says it was built as a tribute to the favourite of the Caliph: Azahara.[from Wikipedia]

A bright meteor along with the full "flower" moon are seen illuminating the Lancaster, PA countryside. The image was made of 415 twenty second exposures (about 2.5 hours). Each image was taken with a Canon T2i (f/5.0 with a Sigma 10-20 mm lens @ 14 mm / ISO 400) and stacked using StarStax. This must have been some meteor! I unfortunately must have been looking away but at least it was captured in the image.
Last Saturday we attended the first mass gathering for what seems like forever. Friends of ours got married and what a fantastic day it was. The rain held off for all the important parts, the company was great, the food was lovely and the venue had an interesting garden. Win all round.
All this meant we had to come up with a suitable wedding gift. After a bit of indecisiveness it was deemed that an embellished map of where they live would hopefully hit the target. Veering slightly from our usual course of something subversive or tongue in cheek we just went with something sweet and romantic - it is a wedding gift after all. ‘To Infinity and Beyond’ is the final result complete with wedding monogram. They seemed to like it at least and that’s more than enough for me.
Cheers

I'm sure by now you are all sick and tired of seeing these star and milky way photos from me...I just can't get enough of them as of late. Part of it is just due to the fact that I find the stars and milky way to be so interesting and the other part is knowing the adventures Ed Brice and I have gone on to get these shots as of late.
I'll try to throw some of my normal types of photos into the mix as to not bore anyone with the onslaught of these photos. :-)
This photo here was taken over at Navajo Point up at the Grand Canyon. I happened to capture what I believe to be a satellite streaking across the sky. The reason why I say it's a satellite as to the naked eye it didn't appear to be a normal shooting star...who knows perhaps it was a UFO?! ;-)
Edit: By the comments below, it looks like it was actually the International Space Station crossing by. Got lucky on this one!

I found myself in the odd position earlier where I was directing hatred at hair bobbles. A pretty inoffensive object... but not when you are tasked with shooting interesting images of them.
I struggled with it a bit this morning, went away for lunch to clear my head and came back in the afternoon with some new ideas. This shot is probably my favourite. The bobbles are sitting on a perspex sheet and lit from below.

This quilt was made using Lecien fabrics: First of Infinity and L's Modern Basics. The checker block was designed by Jess from
theelvengarden.blogspot.ca/ I moved the blocks around and around until I settled on this layout! It measures 47x60
I used 5 colours of Aurifil 40wt thread to do organic grid quilting. For the back, I used some leftover fabrics with white and grey- it's a little off kilter, but who cares!!
Per a September 30, 1963 press release caption associated with the image on the cover:
“FOR FLYBY OF NEAREST PLANETS – Artist drawing of three-man spacecraft for flyby missions to Mars and Venus which will be discussed by Lockheed Missiles and Space Co., at meeting Monday on Engineering Problems of Manned Interplanetary Exploration in Palo Alto, Calif. The Apollo-type command module, upper right, houses crew during launch and serves as Earth re-entry vehicle. Living and recreation center below is 40 by 12 feet in diameter. Five-foot diameter spoke structure, 70 feet long, has central hub with power unit and mid-course propulsion unit.”
Meticulous artwork by Lockheed Missiles & Space Company artist Don Montello. I’ve seen a few works of his here & there.
Here, tonight, we don't speak. But I think of you almost everyday. You, and the short nights we spent together in the summer running wild and having fun.
