*Make lists....

-Keeping track of your goals can help you budget your time wisely. But it can also aid you in seeing what you have already accomplished. By seeing progress with your goals, you will be more motivated to continue working towards them.

-Decide what kind of "to do" list works for you. What fits your lifestyle and schedule? Monthly, weekly, daily goals, etc? You don't want to over plan and feel bad about yourself when you don't have time/energy to get around to doing things on your list. So it's important to be realistic with yourself and your expectations. I personally find monthly goals work best for me since my schedule fluctuates, but I can still stay on track with getting things done.

-Keep other lists for more detailed tasks. For instance, say you want to wash a bunch of your dolls. Write "wash dolls" on your master "to do" list. But then have a separate checklist for each doll. This way you can keep track of who has or hasn't been cleaned. I do this with projects that can't all be done in one session, and need more time/attention.

-Write down any extra stuff you manage to accomplish in your set time frame. Sometimes we don't get around to everything on our lists because we get side tracked. By writing down the other things you did, you can still feel like you were productive.

-Break your lists down into categories. This will depend on what you want to accomplish with your doll collection. For me, I break my "to do" lists into four categories: Youtube, Flickr, "Dolly Maintenance," and "Extras." This enables me to make sure I'm dividing my time evenly between social media projects and things I need to do just for my dolls. It can also be a good way to see how certain tasks overlap. For instance, when my doll displays need dusting, it might be an ample time to film a collection video of all of them while they are off their shelves. This one task can actually turn into two different ones! Everyone's categories will be different. Perhaps you need to keep track of things you are selling, things you need to buy, dolls you need to clean, etc. It's also a good way to separate out your priorities--maybe some tasks are more important than others.

-Whiteboards can be a very handy way to write down very small, insignificant tasks that don't need real estate on your master "to do" list, but still need to get done. Sometimes I realize I need to re-shoot a photograph, or that a doll just got a new piece to her outfit. I will jot these notes down on my whiteboard as a quick reminder so I can take care of the task sooner. It also can be a placeholder for where I left off with editing, replacing photos, etc.

*Set small goals...

-Far too often we are over ambitious about what we want to get done. For instance, having a huge goal like wanting to reorganize ALL your doll stuff can be overwhelming. That's why having smaller goals that build up to the bigger one are more reasonable. For instance, if you want to reorganize all your doll stuff in the long run, start with one container, one type of accessory, etc.

-As you accomplish each smaller goal, you will see the progress towards completing the larger one. If you don't set realistic steps in place, then you will be too burdened and overwhelmed to do anything. It's better to do something small than nothing at all.

-Small goals will help you feel like you've achieved something, and will motivate you to keep taking the steps to accomplish your main, larger goal.

*Make it visually appealing...

-Let's be honest, we all like to look at pretty things. When a room, work space, or "to do" list is visually appealing, we are more likely to want to spend time with it. I like to surround my space with dolls and items that make me happy. As for my "to do" lists, I like to decorate the notebook they are in. Using different colors and fonts makes me enjoy writing and using my lists more.

-Don't over complicate things though! While I enjoy having an aesthetically pleasing "to do" list, I don't want to spend a ridiculous amount of time planning things...I'd rather spend that time working towards the actual goals. If you aren't a particularly creative person, or if you are like me and would rather actually do stuff than plan it, keep it simple. Using a notebook that is already visually appealing and not over decorating is a good middle ground.

-Be practical about what you need. Not all of us require a huge, fancy agenda/planner for our "to do" lists. If you need to carry it around with you or you don't have much space, keep your lists in a small book. I personally like to use sketchbooks, because I prefer to work without lines, and they are thin, but durable. They also are all blank, giving me the ability to create whatever I need out of the pages. But if you prefer to work in a book that already has pre-planned pages, than go for it! Tailor this to your specific needs.

*Stay organized...

-Set up things in advance! Since my "to do" lists are monthly, I will designate a page in my notebook for each month, and write my main four categories down in advance. This way I don't have to spend the time doing so each month. Rather, I can simply plan my goals quickly and get on doing them! So you can pre-plan sections for your day, week, month, etc...whatever works for you.

-Keep your lists in an accessible place. Nobody wants to dig under a pile of books and debris to get a notebook out. If you have the notebook or lists somewhere you can access them quickly on a daily basis, you are more likely to use the lists. There is no point in making lists or keeping track of your achievements if you aren't utilizing them regularly. I keep mine in a little slot on my desk, right by my computer. This is where I do most of my dolly computer work, and also it is in my doll room, where I complete many of my doll related tasks.

-Set aside time for cleaning and small tasks. Usually once a week I will go in my dolly room and pick up any debris leftover from projects. Even five minutes of this a few times a week can keep clutter under control. Sometimes it is as simple as putting books back in place, moving dolls off your work surface, sweeping the floor where some hair collected when you brushed your dolls, etc. The more often you do little tasks, the less deep cleaning you will have to do. Plus you can tackle very small tasks like dressing a doll, redoing someone's hair, putting away new stuff, etc.

-A clear space equals a clear mind. Nobody feels motivated when they have to climb over piles of junk or smell something icky. Have a special space that is clean and clear of debris to work on.

-Designate spots for projects. It's easy to make your desk or the floor a place to shove all the stuff you are working on, but haven't completed. I find that having a basket for dolls that need things done, a bin for mending, and a small case for clothes/accessories that were being worn by dolls that are currently being cleaned (or who just haven't been dressed up yet) is very handy. This prevents things from getting lost. Sometimes leaving a pile of doll clothes or a broken piece of their jewelry out can result in these things going missing. Just ask my Ocean Friends Kira where her fanny pack went after I left it out on the dining room table! Having designated spots can also prevent clutter on your main workspace. Somethings take longer to get around to doing, for instance mending clothes can be time consuming. Plus you don't have to worry about moving piles of dolls off your bed if you didn't have time to put them all back on display after dusting! Having a place just for these things ensures that you know where they are at all times, but these items aren't cluttering up your work area/mind.

Found on the beach one morning

Last night I was talking with my friend John on the phone. I was blabbing about my excitement of the large amount of things I had done that day (and how proud I was for staying focused). I was also really excited I was going to get to sleep in and what I had planned for my adventures. Then a shocking realization hit me...I was testing for E6 in the AM! It completely freaked me out because I didn't have an alarm set. Of course I had caught it in plenty of time, but the thought slipped my mind completely! It was at that point that I realized my to-do list was somewhat lacking and while I may have been on a roll getting things done, I had to make sure my priority list had the, yeah know, important things on it.

So, you guys may not care for it but this is probably my favorite picture to date. I don't really know why. Maybe I'm just happier these days. I think you can tell that though. I love that these little flowers (ahem, weeds) have popped up all over the area. Oh, and on a side note this is in a small field next to Best Buy in Vacaville. I guess it's just another representation that life is what you make it. If I'd zoomed out some, you could see all the buildings and gloomy looking trees. But, if you maintain your focus, you can live in dream land, and I'm totally okay with that. Happy Tu... wait, what is today... oh yeah, Happy St Patrick's Day!

Explored: Mar 17, 2009 - - THANKS!!!

Upon the advice of many people I took the day off. I literally did just about nothing all day but allow my body to rest. Hell, I even slept in (5:30 AM) which I never do… Feeling better but still not 100%.

Year Eight Of My 365 Project

CityColumns: Work by ÂťNiceÂŤ, spotted underneath the CityLine at night.

Arrangement by MittwochsMaler for CityLeaks. – Early October 2013.

Writing & doodling, inking, collage, washi tapes...in my journal. Breathing in peace.

With the recent set back, I relooked into my system, & decided to re-org my current availabilities.

I am looking for 3 basic things:

1. Productivity

2. Ease of use

3. Recycle

I came cross a couple paper system which i have given a try, but they did not last long. I kept them with me thinking that i will use them, someday, but i soon gave up.

What you see in this picture is my Quarter-To-Do-List.

I am using recycle paper, fold it into quarters, and i pen down the list starting from the 1st Quarter. The list goes on to the last Quarter. By doing this, I can see the outstanding items that have been hanging for the past few days. Once an item is completed, I will strike it off with a RED pen.

Storage for this is easy - I just have to keep them in my Traveler's Notebook - compact, neat and tidy.

Next.... my Hipster PDA.

The older I get, the closer I want to be to what I really am. For a long time, I fought against this capacity I have to forget things. I often have my head in the clouds - in French we say "to be on the moon", which I find more accurate as far as I am concerned. Thus, I forget things, either important or secondary, and then I guilt-trip myself, feel bad and ashamed. Truth is, that's who I am. And I'm tired of torturing my brain not to forget. Post-it notes are my best friends and help me cope with that little dysfunction of mine... But I get a bit annoyed somethimes with the flow of post-it papers everywhere.

You won't make me come back from the clouds or the moon. I belong there...

My to-do list for the first of april. At least I got one of them done!

For brainstorming tasks and other things, I use small sticky notes on acetate covered magnets. The notes are quick to attach and can be moved around countless times without loosing stickiness or curling up. Plain paper can be slipped into a clear pocket.

A note on goals: when working for a goal, the options sometimes expand, as the means are not necessarily as important as the end result. Goals don't have to be some lofty abstract thing, just a result you strive for. Before I found out about the benefits of goal planning, I would often get fixed on some project, and not see the alternatives. For example, I might decide that I would have to build a shed to store a load of stuff. The goal is not to build a shed, but to store the stuff I need. This could be potentially achieved by other means. I could make more space in existing buildings by decluttering, and getting rid of stuff I don't need, and by careful planning of storage space.

This mini tickler is my 2 1/2 dimensional calendar and to-do list. Each slip is only a task 'docket' written on a small slip of paper. I may do away with the daytime/evening devision in the tickler, as the slips will go into context once the day arrieves. Instead, I may make the three pockets into A, B, and C priority, where A is absolutly date specific.

The upside? The morning light is beautiful.

the formation of the mountains (pass) in the background is called Lappenpforte (or Lapland-gate), because this is the way the sapmi-people are crossing the mountains in spring and autumn with their reindeers

Last night I had planned to get lots of knitting done during an evening's babysitting but many things conspired to mean this didn't happen, so all I managed were two and a bit little hats (top right corner!) right at the close of the evening.

This photo is to show my "work in progress" pile and the contents of my wip box (there are more projects tucked away elsewhere but these are the main ones) and how they are not being progressed cos I only made two little hats :P

When it comes to urgent weekend projects, #LessIsMore.

I only wish my real todo list looked like this.

My daughter gave me a set of six "Procrastination Pencils" for Christmas – she knows me well. Procrastination and Pencils are two of my favourite things.

The hereios of the We're Here! group have paid a visit to the Pencils group today at my suggestion.

- Clean Windowsills of Dust and Skulls

This is not a fabulous photo, but I just wanted to announce that I can FINALLY cross something off of my never ending TO DO list!! The list is ridiculous... and gets longer by the day.

I got a wonderful order on Etsy.com for 50 lavender filled sachets from a nice woman that wants them for favors for her Mom's 85th birthday party. We went back and forth for a couple of months ironing out the details and this week I was determined to finish... and I DID!!! YEY! I can cross one thing off the list!!!

I was paid for them this morning and they were in the mail this afternoon! I hope she will be pleased with them. Etsy is the BEST place to find te most unique gifts!! If you don't know Etsy.... acquaint yourself! But, I will warn you.... its addiciting (kind of like Flickr!) ; )

Have a great weekend everyone!!

Was totally inspired by mind mapping this week, so I decided to doodle one of my own: my crafty to do list.

Blogged at: notquitevintage.typepad.com

Got a lot going on? Our newest post shows you ways to get more out of you day using a method I created in college to help me get everything done. I still use this method everyday! #todolist #doer #entrepreneur #college #organization

Today I got home and KICKED ASS on my to-do list. I could check off two more things--I watched Grey's, and I did my Flickr pics. :) I didn't feel like washing the dishes and I'm going to make someone else move the salt and the boxes off of the back porch. :)

True story, crossposted from my blog:

So, I busted my ass cleaning the house when I got home today. As my reward/wind down, I ate some yummy dip and popped in Grey's. Inevitably, I got thirsty, so I grabbed $5 and headed next door to the gas station. I'm wearing pink nylon running shorts, a wifebeater, and a pink tank top over that. My hair is in a bandana. I LOOK LIKE SHIT.

I notice someone slowing down on my main street, and I think "Oh crap. They're looking at me." And of course, they pull into the gas station. I didn't bother to hold the door for him. I made my way to the cooler and got a Wild Cherry Pepsi. I tried to loiter to avoid running into the guy, but he was loitering, too, so I just went up to the counter. The guys at the gas station know me, so I wasn't too concerned.

WELL, this is what went down:

Guy: Hey sexy. *slow look up and down*

Me: Hey... *giving him a "what the fuck" look*

Guy: *Unintelligible sentence* (he was a garbler)

Me: What?

Guy: *Unintelligible sentence again*

Me: WHAT?

Guy: Where your man at? *Looks me up and down again*

Me: MY man?

Guy: Yeah.

Me: He's at HOME, waiting for ME. *looks around for Snickers*

Guy: Oh yeah? Well, I'M right here.

Me: Ooookay...

Guy: Are you gonna give me your number?

Me: Um. No. I'm MARRIED.

Guy: Does it look like I care? *totally belligerent attitude*

Me: Obviously NOT.

Guy: Call me then, girl. Ryan. From the Chi. 902-2207. Call me, girl.

And then he freaking walks out! I turn to Seadoo, the attendant, and I was like "Did you HEAR that!?" and he said "NO! I can't hear through this glass! What happened!?" and so I recap for him and he's like "People are STUPID! That's ridiculous!! Why does this always happen to you in here!?" I said "I don't know!" and then he said "It's because you're pretty." But seriously... how... freaking... ridiculous! I guess if you could hear me tell it, it's better told.

As I walked away from the gas station, he was whistling/yelling at me and telling me his number again. I had to RUN to my property, hide behind my row of bushes, run with my back to them and then dash to my back door so he couldn't see where I lived.

Taking notes at a sidewalk cafe and smiling.

My to-do list using the AutoFocus system (for the AF group).

The book is a knock-off pocket moleskine. Right now I have two books of the same size - one for my AF list and one for my personal notes/journal. My plan is to downsize the personal journal once the one I'm using right now fills up, as the two books are a bit much to haul around with me.

Left-side pages are for personal tasks; right-side pages are for work tasks. The silver paperclip marks the first active page (and holds the ones behind it together); the yellow paperclip marks the page where I'm entering work tasks. There's a third paperclip that marks the page where I'm entering personal tasks. I was using the ribbon bookmark to mark the page I was working on but it ripped out of the book yesterday. :^( For the moment, I don't have THAT many active pages so it's not really hard to find my place, though.

ETA: No, there's no meaning to the color an item is written in - just whatever pen I happened to grab at the moment.

Summer To-Do List, loosely for relaxation and peacefulness...in the days without number.

This is all the school things that I need to get done (hopefully) by friday. The colors don't mean anything except that I like pretty pens and they were on sale at Target :)

Stormtrooper's To Do List - Playing around with some StarWars Toys - Aug 10 - 17-85mm Lens

Monday morning is usually the most busy day!!

There are so many things to be done, and to look into.

But with my hipster PDA, it makes every thing easy. It include my To-Do list, my chart, my drawing... all sorts of rubbish.
