"Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was cut by the world’s great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time. On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words, and some of the words are theirs.

I am haunted by waters."

The Spirit of Lews Castle Grounds ?

I flew in to Philadelphia for the weekend to visit with family and friends. Was hoping to catch what should have been a fantastic sunset at Cape May, NJ during Saturday of Labor Day weekend. The sun would set almost directly behind the lighthouse and would provide an awesome opportunity to catch magic on this wonderful stretch of beach. The weather forecast suggested mostly sunny through 8pm so I committed to the two hour drive down. I arrived hours early to some haze. It unfortunately grew hazier and cloudier as sunset approached. I decided to take some photos anyway. With conditions less than ideal, some post-processing in Lightroom was required.

Bad Light? Black and White!

Maybe Bettys looked like this the day before its doors opened back in 1937. All the Queen Mary splendour that inspired Frederick Belmont to open this tea rooms after he and his wife Claire were on Queen Mary's maiden voyage in 1936.

I have nice memories of the days I used to work in this beautiful place.

It makes me really sad to see it closed.

A sepia version, which maybe fits the title, better!

In a timeless ritual of men and the sea, the fishing boat, Newfoundland Mariner, takes her leave of St. John's harbour and heads out into open water to try her luck.

I'm not sure what the man on top of the bridge was doing - perhaps just enjoying the view

"The timeless in you is aware of life's timelessness, and knows that yesterday is but today's memory and tomorrow is today's dream."

Kanyaka ruins under the Milky Way and moonlight! South of Hawker, South Australia. Processed in Lightroom.

OK, so I know that we all love our shots to be viewed large, but this one kind of needs it...

I've wanted to do a star trails shot for a ages, but struggled to find a suitable location where you can compose the subject whilst including the North Star in the frame (so as to produce the big circles) and where the light pollution is relatively low (being only 25 miles outside London). This was the result of spending a rather spooky couple of hours at the ruined church at Ayot St Lawrence. I'd hoped for slightly clearer skies as the stars were barely visible to the eye, but overall I'm happy with the outcome.

Have a good Friday

Tech Stuff: 77x stacked exposures at F5.6, ISO 1000, 30s. This was the largest continuous set of shots that I managed with clear(ish) skies and / or no airoplanes! I light painted the foreground, which was already part lit by the moon.

I turned this photograph to b/w to give that timeless effect that it could be anyplace any time. In reality I took this picture on the 1st January 2018 with my Panasonic G7 digital camera. I was at the head of Brooksbottom Tunnel waiting for the Rawtenstall to Bury Bolton Street service and I was not to be disappointed. Emerging from the inky blackness would be the KWVR based Black Five No.45212. The railway is part of the East Lancashire Railway.

Day 123. However smart my phone is, there's still something comforting about seeing these still around town, even it is mainly for the benefit of tourists!

This is the last image I am going to post for this year. 2016 is definitely memorable which marked the time when I say goodbye to school and embrace a new life. I got a pretty good job, fixed working visa issues and settled down in a new place. It can not be more perfect. I hope this is a good start for the coming 2017, in work, life and photography.

I hope you enjoy this image that was taken this April. This old car in Columbia Hills state park gives you a feeling of timelessness. Just watching it quietly is of great joy. Super windy that day, which made shooting a sharp one a little tough. I am glad to pick this up from many blurred ones.

Thanks for looking! Wish everyone a great 2017!

Another of my Timeless by Vanessa Tong dresses. I don't know if these exist much outside Australia, but you'll have seen them cropping up fairly frequently in my feed over the past year or so. They are a simple style, and different prints are released every month or so, offering great variety in how and when they can be worn. I confess to being rather addicted to them, with certainly more than ten of them tucked away in my wardrobe (some of which you have yet to see here).

They're also cheap (this was $20 in a sale). And they have pockets.

A tree at Borah Creek Prairie. This shot used a ND8+ND4+Polarizer filter to extend the shutter time to a few seconds per shot. By averaging together numerous shots, this is a simulated several-minute-long exposure. If you look close, you can see a small rainbow in the clouds.

A timeless Cotswold scene.

Everything changes, but the scene at the Ghats has been constant every day in this timeless city...

I so love this shot.

We went to Kirkwood for a little getaway with Anna's friend and my amazing sister in law. I am going to skip the July challenge photos for those days and pick up today or tomorrow.

We had such an excellent time. Memories I will cherish forever. Since I was just trying to relax, a lot of these were taken with my cell phone.

“Experientially, eternity is the state we experience when we are aware of the passage of time, but feel untouched by it. Timelessness, on the other hand, is the transcendence of time. There is no awareness of time at all, for there is no differentiation, and hence no change. Therefore, time is in the midst of now, but eternity is in the midst of time.”

- A. Hameed Ali

Please don’t feel untouched because in the case of brothers, Fabrício and Guilherme, time is our enemy!

I hope to have my new group up and running on Flickr next week, where you will all have the opportunity to participate for social change; Everyone a Changemaker.

50sec exposure at 6am at Bakong, Siam Reap. Had to wake up at 4.15am for this....

Will catch up later on your streams :p

Thanks for your visits and comments on my streams, much appreciated :)

Bakong is the state temple of Indravarman I (877-886) at Hariharalaya (modern Roluos), dedicated to Shiva as Indreshvara ("Lord Indra," the personal god of Indravarman, whose name means "Protected by Indra"). This view is from the west, which is the "back" of the temple (the main entrance is east).

Its base is a great five-tiered pyramid (closeup, from the east entrance), 65m x 67m (214' x 220'), perhaps representing the five earthly realms of snakes (nagas), birds (garudas), demons (rakshasas), nature-spirits (yakshas), and kings (rajas).

Most reliefs on the base are damaged, but one scene on the fifth level is an icon of southeast Asian art. It shows a group of asuras (demons) who are fighting a losing battle. Its style is influenced by Javanese art.
