Strolling through Montpellier, I was drawn to this street scene where history meets everyday life. The monochrome tones give it a timeless, almost cinematic feel.
View of the pasture sans mules, they have been rotated into another pasture to give this one a rest.

The tiny village of Khuan Don on the very southern tip of Thailand along the border of Malaysia is relatively unknown to even most Thailanders and the only exception to the local Thai people I have personally seen are actually foreign visitors packed like sardines in speeding mini-buses or in cars bearing Malay plates, this being a gateway to the Malaysian border and thus a point of reference to get that 'oh so important' visa stamp.
i'm quite sure these delightful ladies in their large brimmed coolie hats have probably never had their photo taken by any passer by before, nobody ever stops, time is of the essence and buses and cars from outside the area no doubt have tight schedules.
I myself will never understand this, and although an important venue for myself also being a long term visitor requiring the occasional visa stamp, I will never pass through this beautiful area only looking at the road ahead, time stands still only for the click of a shutter and one day it might all be forgotten.

K-36 class locomotives DRGW 488 and 489 work together out of Chama, NM to bring a freight train up towards the summit of Cumbres Pass. A timeless image that was taken just yesterday. It was a crazy experience to hear these engines work hard up grade. Here the train is rounding many of the curves found along the line in the Sangre De Cristo Mountain Range. The hill blocks the view of 489, but the giant smoke plume rising into the air gives a good illustration of how hard that engine is pushing.
The seasons keep on marching forward.
The years come and go.
Yet, some things remain timeless.
This photo was taken by an Asahi Pentax 6 X 7 medium format film camera with a Super-Multi-Coated TAKUMAR/6X7 1:4/200mm lens and Hoya 67mm R-72 filter using Rollei IR 400 film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitally rendered with Photoshop.

Wandering
It usually pays to wander around. The path between these buildings is called Hie-gait. It seems (to me) to add to the timeless feeling of this scene. Interestingly, I didn’t feel the same way when I viewed it from the other end, and I’m not clear why that was.

After a hike up the mountains via a rather narrow ski slope (which felt very unnatural, I kept expecting someone to slide down from around the bends), I reached a nice patch of forest which offered a lot of different options to shoot. It was a great way to end a weeklong trip in the Alps and got me in a good place to start the 14-hour drive back home (admittedly with a little help from some energy drinks and coffee)
A minimalist low-key setup was chosen here to highlight the timeless beauty aesthetic of this red Avon lipstick. I added the water droplets for texture and depth to the vibrant red shade.
