Its that time again, where i have to leave you all for a while, fly off to some foreign land to refresh my brain and get some reasearch done.
Hopefuly i will be back with some different images full of life and energy.

Lighting up time - A wonderful end to the day watching the sun setting over South Uist out across the Minch with some intense and incredible light catching the cliff edge of the thin sliver of land leading out to the lighthouse at Neist Point.
One of the most westerly locations in the UK, Neist Point can be a fickle location at the best of times, sunset can be very hit or miss here; however when it’s good, it really is good. It's a location that’s hard to beat as one of the best places to witness sunset and it really comes into its own when conditions are as spectacular as this.

The driver, or maybe second man, enjoys a few moments of quiet contemplation in the doorway of Class 40 locomotive No. 40117 at Doncaster, before working a night service to Bradford on Tuesday 25th July 1978. Unfortunately I did not make a note of the actual departure time, but the platform clock shows the time as being just after 03:30. I left Doncaster on the 03:55 service to Hull, hauled by Class 55 locomotive No. 55012 Crepello.
I am not sure what has caused the exposure aberration on the right-hand side of the image but I have decided to leave it as it is.

One other thing - the fellow on the step somehow reminds me of the actor Lee Ingleby (who plays Bacchus in Inspector George Gently).

Working on creating an image to say goodbye to friends who are moving away to another state. It is hard to say goodbye to friends who have been such a big part of our lives. We are happy for them and their new adventures.

After a big day riding in Outback Australia, it was time for these bikers to have a drink or two outside the Albert Hotel, Milparinka, NSW, Australia.
I think that this song is incredibly beautiful, but I have the hardest time listening to it. If only we could freeze time...
Anton Parsons Passing Time sculpture
Passing Time is by Auckland-based sculptor Anton Parsons, a graduate of the University of Canterbury’s School of Fine Arts. The work consists of a twisting ribbon of randomly linked boxes - with each box depicting one of the years between 1906 (founding of CPIT) and 2010 (the date of the sculpture’s installation). The work can be walked around, walked through, touched and sat on.
“The winding form of the sculpture – placed on a street within the original 1851 grid plan commissioned by the Canterbury Association for their new settlement – is also a nod to the winding Avon River, an irregular feature of the landscape over which a street grid was placed,” says Anton Parsons.

Daylight savings time occurred last weekend and I have to admit I spent the last week subtracting an hour with every unwanted task I did. If this were last week, it would be 5:30 AM! If this were last week, it would only be 11:00 PM! So went my secret lament, which was only compounded by the fact, I had to travel. That’s business travel, which is so much different from “fun photography” travel. Business travel means your best friend is the recalculating GPS woman on the dashboard.
Here I am though on Sunday morning and if this were last week….. the time would have been exactly the same. My secret lament must end. I’m also home solid this week. Now I wish the GPS woman could be attached to my vacuum to help me locate the nasty nests of dust bunnies. That’s technology for another day.
