The lake survives from the Pleistocene and is at least 700,000 years old. It is one of the oldest continuously existing lakes in North America.
-The Tufa seen here formed around 500 years ago.
-The photo is a long exposure of 260 seconds using a 10 stop ND filter, a polarizer and a graduated ND filter

Polaroid Time Zero triptych. The film expired in 1981 and I shot this at the end of 2012 after transferring the film to newer IP cartridges with good batteries. Amazing that it could possibly last that long without chemicals drying out.
This montage is done for a local project about environmental issues.
Sorry I've not been visiting as much as life is getting in the way of Flick-ring just now.

It occurred to me when reviewing this image, photography is all about the time slices. If this photographer would have been here just 30 days later rather than an image of an amazing sunset she you have captured a tone of Manatees. If it was 5 months later, she would have a much of Dolphins. That exact spot could have so many different options it all depends on when you pressed that shutter.
From my garden, Ferns to Flickr. They are steadily unfolding and now's the perfect time to get some macro shots.

Close your eyes and what do you see?
Is it a man or masked machine?
Is the world I belong to just a shade of light?
It's just time in disguise...♫
Spent some time on a portrait.....
A time for you and a time for me,
to be whatever, we choose to be;
to set our sights, to reach the peak,
to realize goals, we truly seek.
A time to dwell. on things long past,
a time to think, on things that last;
on family, friends and things that matter,
on things that endure and do not scattter.
A time to laugh and a time to weep,
a time for treasured things to keep;
a time for reflection on how we feel,
a time to mend and a time to heal.
A time to live and a time to die,
a time for joy and a time to cry;
a time to smile and a time for tears,
a time for God to calm our fears.

An impossibly beautiful morning—quiet, unhurried, still.
The world is beautiful. Life is beautiful. Perhaps all we need, every now and then, is a comma in the rush of life—a moment to pause and renew our bond with nature.
They say there is no better healer than nature. And if you go to the mountains and cannot leave behind some of your sorrow, weariness, and smallness of mind, you are truly unfortunate.
The mountains say nothing. Neither does the water.
They simply quiet the unnecessary noise within us.
Life is beautiful. Sometimes, we just need to stop long enough to notice.
The day I took this started off warm and sunny, but by the time I got to the Grand Canyon the clouds moved in and it got colder. The clouds opened a bit for this shot, then it started snowing. I decided maybe I didn't want to camp at the Grand Canyon after all and headed toward Phoenix. March 30 was a little too early to be camping at the higher elevations.....
365 days went by so quickly.
Wish you the best for the next 365 days!
