Hello all. I know I haven't posted anything for quite a long time, so I thought I'd keep everyone interested with a shot I took whilst on a day out with family. It's nothing special, but I liked the contrast and the impending rain clouds in the sky.
I took a lot of photographs of my granddad the past week, however those are going in my personal portfolio as they are special to me - so I will not be uploading these unfortunately. Hopefully I will have more shots to upload soon though , so watch this space.

I see the wall as a kind of ocean, a sea of sacrifice that is overwhelming and nearly incomprehensible in the sweep of names. I place these figures upon the shore of that sea, gazing upon it, standing vigil before it, reflecting the human face of it, the human heart. The portrayal of the figures is consistent with history. They wear the uniform and carry the equipment of war; they are young. The contrast between the innocence of their youth and the weapons of war underscores the poignancy of their sacrifice. There is about them the physical contact and sense of unity that bespeaks the bonds of love and sacrifice that is the nature of men at war. And yet they are each alone. Their strength and their vulnerability are both evident. Their true heroism lies in these bonds of loyalty in the face of their awareness and their vulnerability. ~ Frederick Hart
Three blender strips taken with a Lomo LC-W camera. The LC-W (wide) has a 17mm lens, and can take half frame, square or full frame images depending on which of three film plane masks is installed.

Looking towards the Three Lamps junction from the Bath road, Wednesday 7th March 1973. The pub, which I think was called the Blue Bowl, is boarded up and ready for demolition. The road is now much wider but the meeting of the Wells and Bath roads is still a conventional junction controlled by traffic lights. The queues of traffic which form here are no worse now than they were then. Road improvements encourage car travel; if you leave things alone they don't get any worse.

Yesterday.
She now spends her days (and part of her nights) testing her vocal range.
Let's just say that Randy, Simon and Paula wouldn't complain about her reaching her high notes. ;o)
And does she smile and laugh! I've never heard of a happier baby in my life. Or a mother, for that matter.
A couple of days late due to a wee bit much of the festive fare. All the leaves are gone now and a pretty dull day. Only one more to go in the series but the slideshow looks quite nice already.

Polaroid photograph of a woman and kids holding each others' seats to form a 'train' while waiting for the Flying Circus ride to begin at the 2022 Three Rivers Festival in downtown Fort Wayne, Indiana. This is a type of swing carousel. Riders sit in seats hanging from the ride on long chains; when it spins, the seats fly outward, almost horizontal!
The Three Rivers Festival is a 10 day long festival held every year in July at Fort Wayne's Headwaters Park.

Before 1603, two houses stood on this site, which William st. Popel of Lobkowitz merged them structurally. At the end of the 18th century the building was purchased by Countess Marie Barbara Černínová of Chudenice and rebuilt according to the design of the architect Ignác Palliardi into a magnificent noble residence. During the 19th century, the owners changed frequently. In 1886, the palace was acquired by Count Zdeněk Kolovrat Krakovský, who had the interiors redecorated in the neo-Baroque style and placed his picture gallery, library and coin collection there. In 1920, the palace was purchased by the state and after the reconstruction in 1923 it began to serve as the seat of the presidency of the ministerial council. Today the building houses some of the committees, commissions and clubs of the Senate of the Czech Republic.
The two-storey palace has a facade divided by a central three-part bay topped with a triangular gable. The entrance is also emphasised by the semicircular windows of the first floor and a sculptural family coat of arms.

Rhino
A rhinoceros, commonly abbreviated to 'rhino', is one of any five extant species of odd-toed ungulates in the family Rhinocerotidae, as well as any of the numerous extinct species. Two of the extant species are native to Africa and three to Southern Asia. The term "rhinoceros" is often more broadly applied to now extinct relatives of the superfamily Rhinocerotoidea.
Members of the rhinoceros family are some of the largest remaining megafauna, with all species able to reach or exceed one tonne in weight. They have a herbivorous diet, small brains (400–600 g) for mammals of their size, one or two horns, and a thick (1.5–5 cm) protective skin formed from layers of collagen positioned in a lattice structure. They generally eat leafy material, although their ability to ferment food in their hindgut allows them to subsist on more fibrous plant matter when necessary. Unlike other perissodactyls, the two African species of rhinoceros lack teeth at the front of their mouths, relying instead on their lips to pluck food.[1]
Rhinoceros are killed by some humans for their horns, which are bought and sold on the black market, and used by some cultures for ornaments or traditional medicine. East Asia, specifically Vietnam, is the largest market for rhino horns. By weight, rhino horns cost as much as gold on the black market. People grind up the horns and consume them, believing the dust has therapeutic properties. The horns are made of keratin, the same type of protein that makes up hair and fingernails. Both African species and the Sumatran rhinoceros have two horns, while the Indian and Javan rhinoceros have a single horn. The IUCN Red List identifies the Black, Javan, and Sumatran rhinoceros as critically endangered
The black rhinoceros or hook-lipped rhinoceros (Diceros bicornis) is a species of rhinoceros, native to eastern and southern Africa including Botswana, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Although the rhinoceros is referred to as black, its colors vary from brown to grey.
The other African rhinoceros is the white rhinoceros (Ceratotherium simum). The word "white" in the name "white rhinoceros" is often said to be a misinterpretation of the Afrikaans word wyd (Dutch wijd) meaning wide, referring to its square upper lip, as opposed to the pointed or hooked lip of the black rhinoceros. These species are now sometimes referred to as the square-lipped (for white) or hook-lipped (for black) rhinoceros.
The species overall is classified as critically endangered (even though the South-western black rhinoceros is classified as vulnerable). Three subspecies have been declared extinct, including the western black rhinoceros, which was declared extinct by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) in 2011

Rinoceronte
O outro rinoceronte africano é o rinoceronte-branco (Ceratotherium simum).
