We know this as the Epiphany in the States. Germans get a little more into it by "blessing" doorways with the initials of the three kings: Caspar, Melchior, and Balthasaar. And of course the 20 and the 06 are the year 2006 split apart.

I took this photo on Saturday of the 4th weekend of the 2013 Texas Renaissance Festival. This was the pirate theme weekend - one of the most popular weekends and this year it was absolutely perfect - great weather, incredible photo ops, and just great people.
I took this photo in November 2013 at the TRF near Todds Mission, TX, about 50 miles NW of Houston.

The Virginia Aquarium Stranding Response Team released three rehabilitated turtles that were hooked by recreational fishermen. The Stranding Response Team released the turtles along the shore behind Neptune’s Park at 31st Street. This year’s naming theme for rehab patients at the Aquarium is “heroes and villains.” The sex of each young turtle is yet to be determined.
Ursula, a Kemp’s ridley which is the most endangered turtle species, was hooked at Virginia Beach Fishing Pier June 7. She had several lacerations, a healing rear flipper wound and corneal ulcers. Ursula was also undernourished.
Voldemort, another Kemp’s ridley turtle, is best known for his second hooking and rehab stay at the Aquarium’s Marine Animal Care Center. He was superficially hooked with a J hook baited with squid by a fisherman on the Buckroe Fishing Pier July 2. He quickly recovered from that injury, was released and then was hooked again three days later but this time at Naval Station Norfolk. This hook required surgery as it was lodged in his esophagus.
Green Goblin, the only green sea turtle among the group, was found on the bank of Owls Creek July 5. He was hooked through his right upper and lower eyelids with a J hook which was easily removed by the team. They also discovered a plastron (shell) fracture which has now stabilized.
The Stranding Response Team urges anyone who sees a hooked turtle to call the 24-hour hotline 757 385-7575. While you wait for assistance, do not pull a turtle up on the line which causes further injury but scoop it with a net. Then keep the turtle shaded and wet. Most of all, do not fish if you see turtles nearby.

You really can pick up the nuances of flavor in individual beans (christmas limas, mother stallards, and flageolets) by dressing them simply.
In this case it was a vinaigrette made with a tablespoon of hot/sweet yellow mustard, a splash of olive oil and pinot noir vinegar, salt, pepper, berbere, the smear of the garlic clove I cooked with the beans, and enough of the bean cooking liquid to keep it loose.
The beans were tossed with the vinaigrette, 3-4 shallots sliced fine, a few planks off an orange bell pepper, also sliced fine, the carrot I cooked with the beans (chopped), and a little parsley.
The amalgam is almost smoky/porky though there is nothing derived from any critter in this.
The idea was to get the flags to show in such a way as to show their reason for being on the flagpole. had to get the wind to blow just right to make it work.
The Royal Residence
Castle courtyard at Wawel. After a fire, in 1499 Zygmunt Stary I (Zygmunt I the Old) the royal residence had rebuilt in the Renaissance style. From this period dates the three-storey arcaded courtyard, which occupies an area of 2800 m². Of the 71 apartments, the Ambassadors' Hall, whose wooden ceiling is decorated with many carved heads, is among the most impressive ones. Copies of the heads can be bought in Krakow in each souvenir shop. In the chambers also the famous Flemish tapestries, the Arrasy, as well as a collection of Turkish and oriental works of art can be seen. The exhibition "Oriental Art in the Wawel collections" can be found in the house of the Queen, the western wing of the castle. You should definitely visit the Treasure chamber and the Armoury, in which, inter alia, the "Szczerbiec", the coronation sword of Polish kings (early 13th century) is on display. The largest part of the Crown jewels went lost in the 17th and 18th centuries. Parts of the treasure were sold. With the proceeds the aristocratic republic funded military actions. 1795 occupied the Prussians the Wawel. They had the royal insignias melted down.
The castle after the fire of 1499 and the subsequent rebuildings several times has been changed. A second fire in 1595 forced the lords of the castle to further modifications. Under Zygmunt III, the Italian Giovanni Trevano the interior gave a Baroque character. The chambers got shiny gold ceilings and were decorated with paintings. However, another fire destroyed during the second half of the year 1702, which the Swedes had laid during their occupation, again much of the castle.
Wawel under Austrian rule
The Austrians after the III. Division of Poland many buildings used as warehouses and barracks. Beginning of the 19th century, they tore down the narrow development northeast of the cathedral and used the resulting large open space as parade ground. Between 1844 and 1845 they built on the edge of the parade ground a hospital. A simple building, which now houses a restaurant and the exhibition and conference center. Only after the Austrians early 20th century vacated Wawel, began the reconstruction of the castle. Between the two world wars, the conservation work continued. During this time, the Cracow people founded the institution "State Art Collection at Wawel", which had the task of extending the collection of art collections.
The World War II.
The Cracow people some of the art treasures from the German occupiers could bring in safety, by bringing them in due time to Canada. The Nazis made the castle to the residence of the Governor General of Poland, Hans Frank, who actively participated in the "Final Solution". He lived with his family in the castle and used it for representational purposes. To meet the demands of a residence of a high Nazi official, some modifications were necessary, but which the Cracow people immediately after the II World War eliminated.
The Dragon's Lair
A metal sculpture from the 1960s beneath Wawel marks the entrance to the Dragon Cave (Jama Smoczna). According to legend, lived in it a man-eating dragon that was slain by the sons of the legendary ruler Drak. But there is also a version with a fairytale ending. According to this version of the story, it is said to have stood at the top of the menu of the dragon virgins. King Krak promised the person who killed the dragon his daughter. Many young men in an attempt to kill the dragon should have been killed themselves. Only a shoemaker's boy had success. He filled a sheepskin with sulfur and salt and put it in front of the entrance of the cave. The dragon ate the fur and its contents and became so thirsty that he ran to the river and drank so much water that he bursted. The king kept his promise and gave his daughter in marriage to the shoemaker.

Three shapely fastback rear ends, on three 1960s cars from radically different makers. To the left, the beautiful - though mass-produced - Malcom Sayer shape that is the E-Type Jaguar. One of the most beautiful ever penned, though seen here in slightly less favoured 2+2 form.
To the centre, the hand-made approach, from Tatra of Czechoslovakia. František Kardaus came up with the basic shape, and the cars were almost all devoted to official duties.
To the right, the kit-car approach - though that sobriquet is a little unfair here - Peerless are better considered as a low-volume manufacturer. This is the GT, and in 1958, a Peerless GT finished 16th in the Le Mans 24 Hour Race. The Peerless later evolved into the celebrated Gordon-Keeble.
