Eye to eye with the classic 727, otherwise known as "The Three Holer," about 1500 feet from touchdown makes for a great start to the day!
Three Shire Heads (also known as Three Shires Head) is the point on Axe Edge Moor where Cheshire, Derbyshire and Staffordshire meet, at UK grid reference SK009685, or 53.213°N 1.987°W.
It is on the River Dane, which marks the Cheshire border in this area. On the east of the river, the border between Staffordshire and Derbyshire runs north-east for about a mile to Cheeks Hill, on the higher regions of Axe Edge Moor. From Cheeks Hill the border runs south then east to the head of the River Dove.
The main landmark is a packhorse bridge. The bridge is Grade II-listed, and was probably constructed in the late 18th century
Working on the floors of the three levels. In the upper left corner are laser cut 1” wood square tiles, I bought for the main floor. I glued them down at a diagonal to create more interest, than a straight pattern would have been.
The upper right floor, I cut the pieces and glued them down in a tongue and groove pattern.
The bottom floor, I used the same wood cuts, but put it down in a herringbone pattern.
After sanding, I painted two of the floors and sanded again to let the pattern come through. All three floors will be sealed with a satin finish clear sealant.
With the floors being almost finished, the next step will be the lighting.
St Andrew, Cherry Hinton, Cambridge
A large medieval church in the city's busy eastern suburbs. As Pevsner suggests, 'the interior is far more lavish than the exterior'. The 15th Century nave has aisles but no clerestory, for it collapsed in the late 18th Century. In any case, the nave was entirely reroofed by George Gilbert Scott in the 19th Century.
However, the most impressive part of the building is a remarkably roomy early 13th Century chancel with exquisite detailing perhaps suggesting the influence of the masons of Ely Cathedral. There is some good glass by Leonard Evetts, but it is a little lost in such a vast space.

I'm working from a photo I took LAST spring and, as of today, our magnolia has JUST started blooming for THIS year. We need a good, long, gentle DEEP all day rain to make the blooms a bit larger. The tree is FULL of buds so, hopefully, it will be a beautiful year!,

Two species of chough /ˈtʃʌf/ constitute the genus Pyrrhocorax of the Corvidae (crow) family of birds. These are the red-billed chough (Pyrrhocorax pyrrhocorax), and the Alpine or yellow-billed chough (P. graculus). The white-winged chough of Australia, despite its name, is a member of the family Corcoracidae and only distantly related.
The choughs have black plumage and brightly coloured legs, feet, and bills, and are resident in the mountains of southern Eurasia and North Africa. They have long broad wings and perform spectacular aerobatics. Both species pair for life and display fidelity to their breeding sites, which are usually caves or crevices in a cliff face. They build a lined stick nest and lay three to five eggs. They feed, usually in flocks, on short grazed grassland, taking mainly invertebrate prey, supplemented by vegetable material or food from human habitation, especially in winter.

In modern times, Three Shire Heads is a landmark on various walking routes in this part of the moorlands.[3][4][5][6]
The packhorse bridge and the waterfalls as the River Dane flows southwards are very picturesque,[7] and frequently feature on calendars.[8]
A report shows that this moorland area is of interest for its population of moths and butterflies.[9]
The presence of the packhorse bridge shows the importance of this route for traders from nearby Flash and Hollinsclough to Macclesfield. Silk was produced at Hollinsclough, and sent to the mills at Macclesfield.[10] Coal was mined from about 1600 on Axe Edge

... is the approximate amount of people living in the Hong Kong districts of Kowloon and Central, that you can almost fully see on the picture. Shot taken from Kowloon Peak, thanks to CoolbieRe for explaining how to get to this incredible spot. It was very hazy that day, the horizon with the islands and mountains can not be clearly seen, though it is still a very impressive and fascinating view.
Getting ready for the winter trip to Yosemite this weekend, which led me to take another look at images I took there last year, to see what worked and what didn't.
We parked at El Capitan Bridge, and then walked along the river, and beyond the bend there's this cool vantage point of the Three Brothers. I loved the fact that there was frost on the ground. Too bad there was nothing in the sky, but it's still a beautiful vantage point.
Weather forecasts this weekend call for only a 10% chance of precip on Saturday, but maybe there will be some clouds.
Who cares though? There's never a bad time to be at Yosemite.

Three different Stagecoach companies are caught in this view. Namely Fife, Perth, and Strathtay. At one time Perth was the meeting place of the Alexander empire and vehicles of Fife, Midland and Northern could be seen in the town, but more importantly three different liveries were evident. The rich ayres red of Fife contasted with the golden yellow of Northern and the rich blue of Midland. This is the modern equivalent but sadly they all look the bloody same to me.

These three hooded statues atop a building on California and Kearny streets in San Francisco are strangely reminiscent of characters from the game Assassins Creed. They are rather sinister looking, almost as if this is the headquarters of a sinister, shadowy empire!
Three Questions
When this female grizzly made serious eye contact with me three questions popped into my mind.
Is it just curiosity?
Is she just warning me to get out of her space?
Is she considering me for dinner?
No matter. The answer to all three was the same. Get back into the car. I had been shooting over the hood of the car and as soon as I got back inside she lost interest and began to browse the nearby vegetation for goodies.
