All art is but imitation of nature.-- Seneca (Letters from a Stoic - Letter LXV: On the First Cause)
The universe itself is God and the universal outpouring of its soul. --Chrysippus (Quoted by Cicero in De Natura Deorum)
Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness
Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun
Conspiring with him how to load and bless
With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eves run;
To bend with apples the moss'd cottage-trees,
And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;
To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells
With a sweet kernel; to set budding more,
And still more, later flowers for the bees,
Until they think warm days will never cease,
For Summer has o'er-brimm'd their clammy cells. --To Autumn. by John Keats

Judging by the wispy feathers, this looks like it was the young bird that was on the tree right by Mom or Dad. It's not the best quality, but it's difficult to get decent shots deep in the forest and of birds that don't stay still for a second and keep travelling further and further up the tall trees. These Three-toed Woodpeckers are rare here, so I sometimes hang on to photos that are far from good.
The weather forecast was promising rain and mixed precipitation for 7 and 8 September 2014, and there were a couple of places that I thought I had better get to before the bad weather arrived. The first one was Brown-Lowery, to check if there were any mushrooms. I was there recently, and only found a couple of things. This last visit was a little more rewarding and I found several large clusters of tiny mushrooms growing on tree stumps or at the base of trees. Also found several patches of bright orange Coral Fungi. Quite a few people were in the park, so I felt safer going a very short way in. Far enough, as it turned out, to watch this adult and juvenile Three-toed Woodpecker, feeding together on a tree trunk. The young one was copying Mom or Dad, but its soft squeaking sound resulted in the adult feeding it, too. You can tell this tree has been used by the Three-toed Woodpeckers, as much of the bark has been stripped, leaving the orange/brown wood below. This Woodpecker species seems to be reasonably tolerant of people. These are rare birds here, so I feel very lucky to have seen these two and any others in the past.

On that day, little did any of us know that we were in for a major, late summer, snowstorm! Yesterday and today, 9 and 10 September (today), we've had heavy, wet snow that is causing tremendous damage to so many trees in the city. Yesterday, it was said that 5,000 trees had been damaged, and today, conditions are far, far worse. And the snow keeps falling ....

These are the three Malibu’s in my collection! The one on the left is my mother’s from her childhood, then my sister’s 2009 repro, then the one on the right I got off of eBay with a Sun Lovin’ Skipper for about $4. I don’t typically display my mother’s as I am using her body for my mother’s hair fair, which shows in the quality of her hair. Girl needs a wash and style bad. (If anyone has an extra body from the mod era they’d like to sell me for my hair fair please tell me! I’d love to be able to display both Malibu and hair fair!) I do have that original swimsuit, but like the swimsuit for my other original Malibu, the seam on a side is torn. Nothing a little sewing can’t fix! Her face seems to be more high color than my other original Malibu. You can see it in her eyebrows and blush. Then I have my sister’s repro. I won’t lie in saying that I for sure talked my sister into this one back in 2009, using the fact Mom had one as a persuasion point. I do hate how they made the hair so thick on this doll. She badly needs a restyle to tame that volume. Her swimsuit has a huge run in the back sadly. Then I have the Malibu I bought for myself. For me, Malibu barbie is one of those dolls that I don’t mean to get a lot of but I always catch myself looking them up online to buy! This gal I just couldn’t pass up for the price! She has some plugs at the front of the hairline cut but they’re hidden well by the hair. Like I said above, her suit has a seam ripped but her body is in exquisite condition. Definitely worth the price!

After seeing the eggs on display at the Winterton Show, I thought I'd do an egg based still life.
I wasn't sure what the competition was at the show. I'm assuming it was the best looking 3 eggs. I also assume your hen had to lay them.
I don't have a hen but I have an egg box. Luckily we had three eggs left.
Tiny Key Deer Fawns grazing in a residential neighborhood under the watchful eye of two female deer. I think that two were twins and one was not since he was a little larger. I found them in No Name Key.

I took my stereo rig downtown looking for a photo op. I came across these three ladies who were very curious about the rig. The lady in front, with the Nikon, is from Puerto Rico, and her two good friends are from Argentina.

I was in Paris, France once at a posh restaurant of Champs Elysees, Elisha Cuthbert sitting at the table next to our (true story, though not the point of this story; right at the height of season one of 24 and even there she got some stares and whispers).
I was eating duck and pureed potatoes (I believe that just meant mashed) and the best green beans of my life. But the duck - Well, even though the entree was 60 pounds (which I believe was $90 at the time; a work-related trip with a high cash flow technology startup and a CEO impressing impressing clients - I would never have paid that for duck), I can officially say I DO NOT like duck. Can't, won't, refuse to consider it again.
But again, that is also not the point of my story. My point was that the restaurant had the BEST flatware solely because the forks were three-prong forks... Which I just think is the coolest thing in the world. I don't know why. I just do.
My point? Three prong forks rock!!
