The one on top is the second part of one I read before. from the same author. Just as good.
(I'm already half way through the next three books, but the one I'm on is a bit boring so far so will take longer to read)

My main reason for visiting this area, which included Kruger National Park, was to see the Three Rondavels on the Panorama Route. We were lucky to have a lovely afternoon view of it as the next day all the mountains were covered in cloud.
Amtrak's Pioneer train No. 26 pulls into Salt Lake City, Utah at 8:42 a.m. on June 20, 1987. At that time, the Pioneer train from Seattle, the Desert Wind from Los Angeles, and the California Zephyr from Oakland, came together as one train east to Chicago.
66100 on 6E70 0155 Acton T.C. to Tinsley S.S, is joined by 66566 working 4E82 0036 Felixstowe North F.L.T. to Tinsley Intermodal Term, as a filthy 66718 runs around the discharged stone train from Bardon Hill to return on 6M01 1051 Tinsley Yard Gbrf to Bardon Hill Gbrf.
At the point i left hoping to catch 6J04 0704 Hedon Road Sidings to Tinsley S.S. passing Parkgate some 30 minutes later, but despite competing with Northern Train services and tram train paths it ran 20 minutes early. Not sure where it would fit on arrival at Tinsley.

Three female California quail on my favourite gnarly moss-covered Garry oak tree. They were startled by something which triggered them to quickly fly en masse into this tree, keenly observing below. I quickly grabbed my camera as I rarely see them in this tree...nature’s perfect stage.

Namtso is one of the three holy lakes in Tibet and significant for Tibetan Buddhists. Kora is a Tibetan word that means "circumambulation" or "revolution". Kora is both a type of pilgrimage and a type of meditative practice in the Tibetan Buddhism. Thus, Namtso Kora means pilgrimage walk around the Lake Namtso.
Namtso literally means heavenly lake in Tibetan language. Located around 240km northwest of Lhasa, capital of Tibet, it takes four hours’ driving from Lhasa. Extending 70 km from east to west and 30 km from south to north, the lake covers an area of 1,920 sq km and has an altitude of 4748 m above sea level. It is biggest lake in Tibet and the second biggest salt lake in China as well as one of the highest lakes in the world. The water in the lake is crystally clear and blue. The blue sky joins the surface of the lake in the distance, creating an integrated, scenic vista.
In every Tibetan year of sheep, thousands of Tibetan Buddhism believers will come here to worship this sacred lake. As a rule, they will walk clockwise along the Namtso Lake in order to receive the blessing of the gods.
There are several fine Tibet treks around the lake. The shortest one is roughly 4 kilometers and takes less than one hour. It starts from the accommodation area to a hermit’s cave hidden behind a large spinter of rock. The kora continues to a rocky promontory of cairns and prayer flags. At the promontory, pilgrims undertake a ritural washing in the lake. And then the trail continues past several caves and a prostration point where there are two rock towers looking like two hands. Pilgrims squeeze into the deep slices of the nearby cliff face as a means of sin detection or drink water dripping from cave roofs, even swallow holy dirt.

My dad must have carved these tiny, fragile objects when he was a boy. The matches have been made into a little wooden puzzle (no glue here). And two pieces of blackboard chalk have been made into a chain link and an elaborate carving.
Looking for three things to photograph for Macro Mondays "Three" theme I rummaged through some old boxes and found a bit of ancient personal history in an old tobacco tin. A little bundle of blackboard chalk creations that included a bi-plane, a spiral shell and an elaborate hollow tower even more delicate and finely patterned than the little one in this image.
These things are so delicate I am surprised they have lasted so many years. A real Macro Monday bonus to stir up some lovely memories of my dad, who I sadly lost when I was but a boy myself.

On the North Taranaki coast on New Zealand's North Island there are 25 metre rock formations known as the Three Sisters. The area is only accessible at low tide.

I am going back into the archives and working on photos using some new post-processing software plugins.
This shot was taken in the outdoor market in Kadikoy. Three unlikely characters if not representing 3 generations.

DCRail liveried Class 60, No.60046 'William Wilberforce' is pictured ratting through Three Horse Shoes (between March and Whittlesea) leading 6Z41 (11:57) Barrington - Chaddesden Sidings conveying a rake of empty JNA box wagons.
The train was originally destined for Brandon on Friday 6th October but operational difficulties at the terminal meant the train was recessed at March over the weekend before returning back to Chaddesden via a run round at Barrington.
