Three enormous bronze swords stand monument to the battle of Hafrsfjord in the year 872, when Harald Hårfagre (Fairheaded Harald) united Norway into one kingdom. The monument was designed by Fritz Røed (1928 - 2002) from Bryne, just south of Stavanger. It was unveiled by Norway's King Olav in 1983.

The swords, which are about 10 meters tall, stand for peace and unification. One sword is larger than the others. This was Fairheaded Harald's sword. The swords are planted in solid rock - representing peace.

The swords can be found at Møllebukta which is a bay area on the southern shore of Hafrsfjord. The name "Møllebukta" derives from "mølla" (mill) and "bukt (bay). There used to be a corn mill here. Today the area is one of Stavangers most popular recreational areas.

Your comments/favs are the highest reward, and very much appreciated.

Three Shire Head (also known as Three Shire's Head, Three Shires Head, Three Shire Heads) is the point on Axe Edge Moor where Cheshire, Derbyshire and Staffordshire meet, at UK grid reference SK009685, or

53.213°N 1.987°W.

It is on the River Dane, which marks the Cheshire border in this area. On the east of the river, the border between Staffordshire and Derbyshire runs north-east for about a mile to Cheeks Hill, on the higher regions of Axe Edge Moor. From Cheeks Hill the border runs south then east to the head of the River Dove.[1]

The main landmark is an ancient packhorse bridge.

The Navajo people see the Three Sisters formation differently. The three pillars of rock represent a man and his strength and courage, a woman and her softness and kindness, and a child who the man and woman hope grows up into someone special. "It represents faith, hope and charity,"

I still haven't found why it's called "The Three Sisters"

Today marks 3 years living in Berlin.

My collection of used tea leaves continues to grow. As I drink and share tea, then dry the leaves, I also take time to handle them as they move through each stage of drying. The mix changes over time as I consume teas of different types and origins. There is always so much color and texture to see and feel in the leaves. They remind me of the cycle, slow and fast, that we go through with having different people come and go in our lives, taking care of work and life duties, having fun, being down, and so on. Above all, I am happy to have my health, tools, and the right people in my life to keep going, drinking, collecting, and reviewing.

Thank you to everyone near and far, you have been part of it in some way.

And thank you for being a friend.

One of the sisters three, I just bet I will see her next weekend when the Houston Zoo has their "Photographer Day" where we get into the park early, and will watch a special presentation about the tigers and lions. Lions and Tigers? I had to think about signing up for about 1.3 milliseconds. The sisters three and Jonathan have always acknowledged my presence when I go to visit. Either it is my feline magnet nature, or it may be because it is typically so hot outside when I visit them. It may be like when I make a trip to the market in the morning when their baked goods have just come out of the oven. You know the time. When the goodness of the aroma of baked goods sucker punches you. I might just smell quite appetizing - irresistible, even.

Now, about this particular shot. I don't know which of the three sisters this is - but I do know it isn't Nimue. Nimue is the only sister that has a distinguishing facial feature. This gal was sitting on a perch in the sun while a young mother with a baby was holding her child up to take a good gander at her. What they didn't see is the other two sisters, crouching, hidden perfectly to the right and the left of their sister - totally in the blind side of the young mother who was oblivious to them.

I love big cats - little ones too. And, I have a very healthy respect for the big ones (for the little ones too). Having witnessed the three lioness stalk Jonathan in sync, having seen them rough-house play, they are the only creatures that have ever made me feel like prey. They are magnificent! And, of course, thanks to the Houston Zoo for not only aiding the sisters to thrive, but for being advocates for Big Cat conservationism.

Last October, the Houston Zoo hosted 425 guests at its annual Feed Your Wildlife Conservation Gala where it honored prominent Houston conservationist, Cullen Geiselman, Ph.D, and raised funds for African lion conservation alliance Pride. Pride is an alliance of wildlife conservation leaders across eastern Africa who direct carnivore long-term conservation projects and are committed to working together to use their collective knowledge and experience to increase the effectiveness and impact of their conservation efforts. That event raised over $872,000. The proceeds will go towards animal conservation projects around the world, including Pride.
