A family meal with my in-laws ... and very nice it was too.
My mother-in-law can probably be described as being an artistic eccentric, and these are the beads that adorn the conservatory doors ... functional in the summer for keeping insects out, and decorative in winter.

Access to the BCA’s current exhibition Queer Threads, including Performing Threads, exhibition inspired Performance Art by the Boston LGBTQIA Artist Alliance in the Mills Gallery at 6:30pm, live entertainment on the Plaza beginning at 7:30pm and the Tree Lighting at Dusk.

Needle and thread - the beginning of new clothes, creativity, a new hobby.
Smart Chicken is intellectual and enjoys thinking about big topics. Smart Chicken is very curious, and likes to analyze a wide range of topics. He also enjoys researching and collecting data on various subjects. He particularly enjoys observing the the world around him. Smart chicken loves to explain things to people, although usually he doesn't communicate well because he speaks with such a large vocabulary. Come have a conversation with Smart Chicken!
This plush doll is hand crafted and sewn using fabric, cloth, thread, and poly-fil and measures 8" x 5" x 5". Great for kids and adults! Soft and cuddly, dollies are perfect for a nice snuggle or hug.
Underside of my practice sandwich (thus the crazy loops and colors). Straight row of stitching on top was my current test. The dark grey is the bobbin thread. The blue tail is the top thread (both Aurifil 50wt) that broke while sewing.
I felt like starting a new thread crochet project, and so I did! It's a pattern called "Summer Splendor". I am temporarily in love with this green thread. It's booful, as they say. It feels vintage-y, too (to me, at least), which I like.
This image is a little blurry. Wasps tend to be in constant motion so it is hard to get a clear shot. I was surprised to learn this was a thread waisted wasp. The abdomen is not as long as some but it does have a very thin waist. I will look for this wasp again next year and try to get a clearer image.
Identification
Thread waisted wasps are distinguished by their long abdomen and stalked (petiolate), giving the body a "thread-waisted" appearance; middle tibiae with two apical spurs; body may be all black (sometimes tinged with metallic blue or green), black and red, yellow and black, or white and black.
Most species nest in the ground, usually in areas that have sparse or no vegetation; some species construct aerial nests composed of mud; a few species nest in hollow plant stems or abandoned bee burrows in logs.
Food
Larvae feed on the paralyzed bodies of a variety of arthropods (the host varies according to wasp species) provided to them by adult wasps; common hosts include spiders, grasshoppers, and caterpillars.
Adults feed on nectar from flowers and extrafloral nectaries, honeydew, and body fluids of their prey.
I've been busily pasting, folding, and sewing away on a new large batch of albums, this time using a simple but elegant pamphlet stitch binding in three sections. I really enjoy the materials involved and am excited to show off more of the finished products soon!
The threads of silk as they are fed through a long line of winding silk in a factory in Suzhou, China. The elements of line are not only seen in the silk threads but also in the perspective of the long line of the working machine.
Children from 2½ to 6 years love repetition. Threading beads on a cord and taking them off again is always a pleasant occupation which will hold the interest of the child for long periods.
Bead threading is a favourite pastime with young children. The 24 big wooden beads have large holes, and there is a two-inch, stiff tag on each end of the threading lace.

No, I don't crochet, but I did hold it long enough to take this shot. I'm getting so tired of job hunting that I find myself taking a lot more photos.
