Experimenting with effects. A reel of thread in the centre of my glass table. The table is supported by a single silvery pole in the centre, which is reflecting the thread through the glass, & the pink is from the transparent pink chairs which also have silvery legs.

Some abstract light work, which looks like threads or wires. I'd rather think of them as wires, some intricate network of wires in a massive computer or something

My thread display is overflowing, I spotted this in a bargain stack! Great!

Each thread is coated with beeswax before they are used to stitch leather pieces together.

I should have taken a before picture, but it was disgusting. The outside faces need a good polish, and then it is ready to be reinstalled.

Over my spare time i would make these braceletes for sale. Not sure if i should start doing them again. Much work but the result totally pays off!

Thrifted everything you see here except for the pins and pin cushion. I'm learning (slowly) to sew.

Made with vintage thread.

Shank on back if you want to sew it on.

Usually I just sew through the middle directly but as this thread is a bit thicker than I usually use for this button size (1.5cm) I thought I would try this shank and I think it works quite well.

You can see the difference in thread size. A lot of upholstery shops are only able to use a smaller thread size due to the machines they use...however, at Rich Phillips Leather we have the ability of using larger diameter threads on our machines because of durability and greater contrast.

For Our Daily Challenge: Beginning

Needle and thread - the beginning of new clothes, creativity, a new hobby.

Underside of my practice sandwich (thus the crazy loops and colors). Straight row of stitching on top was my current test. The dark grey is the bobbin thread. The blue tail is the top thread (both Aurifil 50wt) that broke while sewing.

Now it's time to start the hand work -- can't tell here that the organza is really shiny and pretty and gives nice depth. But it does. ;)

The threads are stretched and prepared for weaving .

Pattern: "Double Pineapple Doily" by American Thread Company

applique from Urban Threads

I felt like starting a new thread crochet project, and so I did! It's a pattern called "Summer Splendor". I am temporarily in love with this green thread. It's booful, as they say. It feels vintage-y, too (to me, at least), which I like.

This image is a little blurry. Wasps tend to be in constant motion so it is hard to get a clear shot. I was surprised to learn this was a thread waisted wasp. The abdomen is not as long as some but it does have a very thin waist. I will look for this wasp again next year and try to get a clearer image.

Identification

Thread waisted wasps are distinguished by their long abdomen and stalked (petiolate), giving the body a "thread-waisted" appearance; middle tibiae with two apical spurs; body may be all black (sometimes tinged with metallic blue or green), black and red, yellow and black, or white and black.

Most species nest in the ground, usually in areas that have sparse or no vegetation; some species construct aerial nests composed of mud; a few species nest in hollow plant stems or abandoned bee burrows in logs.

Food

Larvae feed on the paralyzed bodies of a variety of arthropods (the host varies according to wasp species) provided to them by adult wasps; common hosts include spiders, grasshoppers, and caterpillars.

Adults feed on nectar from flowers and extrafloral nectaries, honeydew, and body fluids of their prey.

The threads of silk as they are fed through a long line of winding silk in a factory in Suzhou, China. The elements of line are not only seen in the silk threads but also in the perspective of the long line of the working machine.
