Down on the second floor were some cotton shoots hanging from the ceiling that must have been used for what ever they were producing here. This image was shot with my Nikkor 50mm and ive used the whole set to futher experiment with Adobe lightroom of which keep suprising me with how much can be done with it.

Quilt 2 - Cathedral windows and flames. I free-motion stitched the 'cathedral windows' and the stitch in the ditch lines. No rulers were harmed in the quilting process! And no markers were used. This was my first attempt at doing this design and I quite liked the overall circle effect with the squares in the quilt top. I used a variegated Superior Rainbows thread (col 845) for all the quilting -- top and borders.

My folks picked up this bunch of boxed embroidery threads - some cotton, some rayon silk. All for $20
The threads in this Zeus crank arm were in really bad shape, so I made a steel insert. Fortunately there were enough of the original threads left to allow me to get the crank arm clamped in my mill vise and preserve the alignment. The photo sequence skips over a couple of failed attempts where I tried to thread the ID of the insert before I put it in the crank arm, and the insert just broke. The final solution was is to cut the pedal threads after the insert was glued in place. Yeah, I know that you can buy kits to do this, but that's no fun.

Pa was servicing someones machine, it just wouldn't work, all this thread was wound inside! and a felt of fluff.
