I think this is a typical threat display. I was standing on the concrete retaining wall that the road runs across, & this guy came motoring over. It swam back & forth for a bit, then reached up & started chomping vigorously on the toe of my hiking boot. When that didn't produce much reaction (aside from me taking a step back), it tucked its head all the way down onto its neck & resumed cruising back & forth in front of me.
I think it was exactly 8 years ago that I got into 'Radiohead' more.
Inna was a very good friend who was my colleague as camp counselors at a summer camp in NJ, USA. We were in the same team and became very closed. During that summer, 2003, most of the time we hung around together.
In her car & place, she always put music on and Radiohead's songs were the very much frequent songs to be played.
The best memory that I had with her is our trip to Washington D.C. by her car. We started the trip right after the day, which NYC was totally out of power. She was the one who drove all the way up & down since I could not drive. Still I can remember that we were making jokes,,,on the chaos, saying that the birth rate would be very high after 10 month from the power off date.
From my memory, during the trip, there was music in the car all the time,,and,,,I asked her what the song titles are and who are the singers. She asnswered they are a band called, 'Radiohead'. After that, I was into them.
That's why Radiohead equals Inna to myself.
If I am not mistaken, I bought the CD in NYC...Virgin.. in that summer. After the summer, it had been one of my favorite CDs....but I do know why I stopped to listen to it for some time, probably after I went to Sweden. Was I too busy for studying??? Noooooope.
Some days ago, someone's mention on Radiohead reminded me how much I liked their songs and how much I miss Inna.We had been in touch for some years after that summer,,,,the other two CDs were sent to me in Korea by Inna. She was like this to me, sellecting songs that I liked and burning CDs,,and sending it to Korea from USA.
However, I got lost contact with her some years before. I think it certainly was from the Sweden time...hmmm,,,what happened to myself in Sweden??? Now I do have big regrets on this.I shall work on finding her again. I wonder how she is now,,,,what she does,,,.how her parents are...
Ps. 1) Inna's parents were the ones who influenced me to build up my relationship with my friend's parents. It was the starting point. They were really lovely people, particularlly her mother.
2) Inna was an artist, so we went to many galleries/museums together. Wishing that now she does what she wanted to do as an artist.
3) I just remember that,,,I have one more memory with her. It was my first time and last time that I went to a strip show bar. My co-workers took me, the Asian girl, there by saying, "Sunam, you need to learn the world more!". hahaha
4) I still do remember her mother's GOOD Russian salad with red radish. My very first time to have original Russian food.
this is a pearl-bordered fritillary, happy to be put right if this is wrong, so many in my book, near our house on some cow parsley, never seen one here before!
Think this is the 1936 trip. I can't work out exactly where this hotel was / is, so any help much appreciated! Looks like the same lunch party I added today. There's a good candidate in Rhoendorf.
Wow!
I think I met these floppy disks 5 1/4", back in the distant year of 1990 and I remember feeling fear when people said: "you have to protect it [putting a piece of tape] so as not to be erased the content" (the tape is put in that little slot you see on the left). It was scary, imagine that by introducing this disc in the slot computer will be erased everything :D
But the scare was deal with something new and unknown, really gives some fear "spoil it".
So here I present to new generations, the floppy disk that was used in those days.

¡Huy!

A friend gave me much to think about recently about the tension between skill and art and appreciation and the need for attention. She gave me an insight into herself, and while she shared some very personal information, what she really did was cause me to reflect on myself. I am often at a loss on how to respond when she speaks, and this is the case now.
So, you know who you are, and don't think that I didn't read what you wrote.
I made this monochrome because it is Monochrome Monday and because I seem more thoughtful in B/W. I know my limitations.
But, you can't get around the fact that I'm doing the squishy lip thing for FGR. faygate broke the rules and asked us to share a secret too, so here goes: I'd do my thought-invoking friend in a heartbeat. (Don't tell her!)
I think I found out about Piedmont, Wyoming on www.ghosttowns.com
After that I looked for more information and I was able to get the owners name and email address. My sister and I were given permission to explore the ghost town on our own.
One side of the road was fenced off (this side) and the other side wasn't.
I think that Chuck and I spent an entire day here looking around the house and grounds, going to a wine tasting, etc. There was snow on the ground, but it was a beautiful day to take in the wonderful architecture and design of this lush estate.

I think this tapestry, which is really full of detail, would make a great subject for an extreme line-cut jigsaw. I took photos of it at New York Metropolitan Museum, and this detail was probably the sharpest.
'Honour' from the Tapestry Series 'Gloria Immortalis' is based upon a design by Bernard Van Orley, his workshop and collaborators, before 1520. It was woven in silk and wool, probably in Brussels between 1525-32.
In it, the enthroned and bearded personification of Honour receives the victor's laurel crown from Virtue and Victory, Majesty and Respect sit like handmaidens at Honour's feet, and the most lauded rulers of history flank his throne; below are ten virtuous women plucked from mythology, the Bible and more recent apocryphal histories. The central scribe studies the list of Honour's celebrants; whilst in the foreground an unruly mob of historical and literary protagonists, each identified, besiege Honour's pavilion.
The tapestry was part of a seven-piece set presenting an allegorical guide to the qualities which a successful ruler should espouse. The set was made for Cardinal Erard de la Marck (1472-1538), Prince-Bishop of Liege, and loyal envoy and financial backer of Holy Roman Emperor Charles V.
The Winter 2009 ACLD newsletter will cover a variety of resources relating to ART in libraries. Topics range from the new bookmobile graphics used in marketing on the streets, the annual teen art show, database resources for art research, and recommended reading about African American Artists.
There is also a call to collectors wishing to display their art in any of the Alachua County public libraries.
The think... newsletter should be available online and at your library branch December 1st.
I have a tendency to be the "anywhere but here" girl. I prefer to see it as always up for a new challenge rather than never being satisfied. I work at whole foods so yea, gotta represent. ;)
My 1st attempt a making a journal. A gift for Roberta. I got in way over my head on this one. My projects always turn out to be way more work than I think.
With rather heavy snowfall already occurring in northern areas of America, I thought this is a good time to look forward to better weather a few months down the road.
Hidden Lake Gardens is the botanical gardens for Michigan State University. The location is in the Irish Hills of southeast Michigan's Lenawee County. I took this photo on May 16, 2014 during a sunny springtime visit to the gardens. This scenic boulevard is lined with lovely Crabapple and Redbud trees.

Chase thinks it looks better now than before. I kind of agree.
Trying to cram all the things I work in and with into one piece, out of curiosity.
Starting with the ubiquitous eggshell, then a layer of acrylic paint and some fumage. First went over it with a watercolour wash, then sprayed it with a matte finish, and did another wash in a different colour. Some more washes, some detailing with acrylic and then more detailing with pencil and metallic paint. Drop it off the balcony (2nd floor) on accident and attempt to reconstruct it with paper and glue. Add acrylic and metallic paint to cracks. Then see where we go next from there.
