The Hamadryas Baboon (Papio hamadryas) is a baboon from the Old World monkey family. It is the northernmost of all the baboons; its range extends from the Red Sea in Egypt to Eritrea, Ethiopia and Somalia. Baboons are also native to and live in Southwestern Arabia, especially in Yemen. The mountains of Yemen and the horn of Africa make it a great place for the baboons live, where predators are not as common as in central Africa. The Hamadryas Baboon was a sacred animal to the ancient Egyptians as the attendant of Thoth, and so, is also called the Sacred Baboon.

This is a repost. I had some trouble getting good color from raw image so I redid it in GIMP from camera JPEG.

I try to never miss an opportunity to support breast cancer awareness..even if it's with a silly picture.
That's a tree! LOL.
Even large isn't large enough. I think you have you be there. The snow fell this past weekend and is sticking around. A few inches of heavy snow on the evergreens is incredibly beautiful.
I switch between thinking of that and all the trees/power lines down and the people who were in the ditch this past weekend. Yeah, it happens when you work emergency services. Trees blocking roads, falling on cars, houses...people without power, lines down causing fires...and snow storms....people in accidents, sliding off the roads, calling out public works and highway departments, townships and county boards....
Ahhh.....And I go for a drive.
And I find it beautiful. I wish is looked like this all of this time.
Al fin, después de todo este tiempo,
hemos logrado comprender;
Que algunas veces no sabremos a dónde nos llevará el camino,
que en ocasiones seremos esclavos de nosotros mismos,
y que "elegir a nuestros amos, no nos hará menos esclavos".
Al fin, después de todo este tiempo,
hemos logrado comprender;
Que no hemos comprendido nada, y que falta un largo camino por recorrer.
We never said our love was ever green
Or as unchanging as the sea
But if you can still remember
Stop and think of me
I think this could have turned out better. It lost some of its vibrancy from camera to computer, so I tried to boost them a bit.
I was planning on sleeping in today, but my Dad woke me up early to tell me it was snowing outside & I should go take photos. So I rushed to get dressed. Because I was only going to go take photos in the garden I didn’t bother to get dressed properly – I was still in my pj top! But then my Dad said I should go & take photos around the school, so I had to go back & actually get changed. & then I took photos in the garden until I was convinced that all the students were up from their cars, & then I went & took photos around the school.
I came home then, & Hugh’s Economics class was cancelled because his teacher’s car had gone into a ditch, so he was home, & I showed him my camera while he made cereal. I made myself a hot breakfast & then went to chat to my Mom, who was still lying in. My Dad called me to say he was free, so I went up to talk to him in school, & he got me a hot chocolate. When I came back home my Mom was up so I showed her my pics. She went out, & then I went & straightened my hair & put make on before heading over to the AC. I needed to talk to Mr B but he wasn’t there, so I chatted to Helen for 30mins before Mr B turned up & said he was free at 2.15pm. So I headed back home & read the paper & cooked lunch. Hugh was home again because he had had early lunch & his friends hadn’t, & he had to go to maths clinic in 30mins.
After lunch Sue brought over Val to do some ironing (I was supposed to do that today, so that was a relief) & I headed over to see Mr B. We chatted about my script, & then NYT. & then I went home & spoke to my Dad up at school again, & then went & played out in the snow some more. & then I changed into my pjs & fell asleep in front of the TV until 6pm when I woke up to hear everyone just about to eat dinner. So I joined them before watching more TV while trying not to fall asleep. I watched two episodes of Celebrity BB with my family, & then put photo software onto my laptop & trying to edit them. It is now 4am, & I am horribly tired, so I’m going to bed.

I think we originally planned to go back to the Oktoberfest but it was a very blustery day in Munich so we decided to check out the Residenz Museum instead. It's not really a museum, it's more of a huge palace belonging to a major ruling family. I think the complex was completed in the mid-1500s and it lasted until 1944 when Allied bombers destroyed most of it. After the war, the building was rebuilt as close to the original as possible. The building itself is very ornate; there is so much to see. I think 90 rooms are open for visiting. I don't know if we hit all of them but Heather and I spent about 5 hours here. After sharing some bratwurst, Heather had a burst of energy and went drindl shopping and I did some people watching near the New City Hall. Very nice day out!
I took these photos in late September 2019.
I think that I've already mentioned that I visited Wells cathedral one Friday lunchtime. I was on my own and I spent about an hour there taking reams of photos with my digital camera.
This image is based on a three hundred and sixty degree panoramic that I attempted to take, towards the back of the cathedral. I had to discard a few degrees as it wasn't coming together well as a whole. What's left is about one hundred an eighty degrees, so I guess I got rid of almost half my work! Less is more or so they say, and I really enjoyed the colour and light in this part of the building.
When piecing it together, I honed in on the sharp blueish highlights and the golden yellows that fractal out towards overlapping terracotta reds. These are separated by inky dark tones, spatial distortions that fall back into the distance away from the surface plane.
The central mirrored forms have come together as shapes reminiscent of some kind of 'totemic being' It has a head that stares out through brightly lit irridescent eyes and multiple column like arms that reach out towards the edges of the image. It is as if it is trying to dominate the space, stopping the onlooker from advancing any furthur. Beyond this assumption, I am not sure of this 'beings' specific intent or purpose, but I can say that I was not expecting it to reveal its self at the back of Wells cathedral!
