And I would love to see what you do with it... :)

There are no rhymes this Xmas - I don’t think they’re about;

they went with my gallbladder when they took the darn thing out.

This year has seen our village grow at alarming rates

so many of us live here now we’ve fortified the gates.

Our darling little Chloe, the light of our old eyes,

arrived at last in March (She’s healthy and she’s wonderful

and hardly ever cries).

It seems as though the sands of time are flowing all uphill

until we pick her up and ‘crunch’ we have to take a pill.

Ah well, small price to pay for such a delight.

If I’ve been out of touch and you’ve found me hard to reach

please won’t you just forgive me for I’ve lost my sense of speech.

Instead of talking Daly, Rich, Derrida and Foucault

I’m lying on the floor with Chloe going ‘yogle yogle yoh”.

which is quite seasonal don’t you think?

I’m on the brink of something big, I can just feel it

……..or maybe not.

What I really want to say is this:

I wish you joy and love and light

and that your Xmas tide be bright

I hope your wishes do come true

because I really care for you.

Now if I had my old gallbladder

I’m sure I could have done much better

Okay so this wasnt really on purpose at all. I was doing some panorama shots and i really, really had to take a piss so i forgot all about self-timer and long shutterspeed. This is the result:

I don't know what they put in the water in China but who ever drinks it tends to multiply. For real.

It also feels that it's the same outside of the water as we're in Yu Garden, the only laid back place I know Shanghai has to offer, meaning that I also feel like one of those fishes almost getting pushed in the water as a group passed behind and as I'm trying to connect with my new chinese fish friends.

This is a dried out cactus leaf that I picked up from our garden because I liked the contours and textures.

Lighting stuff: I wanted to emphasize those contours and textures so I used side lighting that created the shadows that reveal and emphasize those features. I lit it with a YN560-III in a 24 x 36 gridded soft box placed at camera left about 4 inches from the leaf. The flash, in manual mode, was triggered by a Yongnuo RF-603N.

Other pictures that I've taken of cactus are in my Cactus and Succulents set. www.flickr.com/photos/9422878@N08/sets/72157633383093236/

Other plants, flowers, fruit or thingys that I've photographed using strobes can be seen in my Strobe Lit Plant set. In the description for that set, I list resources that I've used to learn how to light with off camera flash. www.flickr.com/photos/9422

On the sail croatia trip, I got interested in the different water textures, different colours, patterns and shapes, each day and each location was different.

texture by the ever talented Shelly

I've got my own moral compass to steer by

A guiding star beats a spirit in the sky

And all the preaching voices -

Empty vessels ring so loud

As they move among the crowd

Fools and thieves are well disguised

In the temple and market place

Like a stone in the river

Against the floods of spring

I will quietly resist

Like the willows in the wind

Or the cliffs along the ocean

I will quietly resist

I don't have faith in faith

I don't believe in belief

You can call me faithless

I still cling to hope

And I believe in love

And that's faith enough for me

Stuðlagil is a ravine in Jökuldalur in the municipality of Múlaþing, in the Eastern Region of Iceland. It is known for its columnar basalt rock formations and the blue-green water that runs through it. It became an unexpected tourist sensation[1][2] after being shown in a WOW air airline brochure in 2017.[3] The rock formation is 30 meters tall.[4]

The river Jökla runs through the ravine.[4] The water level decreased by 7 to 8 meters due to the Kárahnjúkar Hydropower Plant, which opened in 2009.[4]

Sitting in the corner of an old farmhouse in Iceland lit by the diffuse light from the window. Couldn't resist the textures and muted colors.
