Runoff flowing at the bottom of one of the mounds left this interesting pattern of colors and textures on the clayey mini-fan that surrounds it. A nice study in textures and patterns.
It honestly fascinates me that the spire on top of The Empire State Building was originally designed to mount zeppelins. The 102nd floor was designed to be a landing platform and passengers were supposed to check in on the 86th floor. Ultimately the Empire Airship Terminal was abandoned due to a lack of mooring lines and wild updrafts. And yes, skyskraper spires are also a way of increasing their height for the sake of achieving records.
A glimpse of The Empire State Building is inspirational for me. It was constructed during the depression outside of New York's financial district. I think the building is a metaphor for reaching for the stars; even when it's illogical.

This abstract actually shows part of the facade of the public library in my home town of Kilsyth. Somehow, Kilsyth seems to inspire me to take abstracts, based on the Flickr evidence contained in my Kilsyth set.
It's many years since I've actually set foot inside this library. However, I remember avidly borrowing (amongst other tomes of course), lots of Billy Bunter books. Who can forget Bunter's memorable translation of: "sic transit gloria mundi" as "Gloria was sick on a bus on Monday". ;-)

A photo I took from the airplane flying over Spain. Trying to catch textures from nature to give them shape of abstract and free interpretation.
As always, a photo each day for 365 days. All shot and edited using Apps on my iPhone 5.
The photo was taken using the camera App ClearCam for iPhone. The file is saved as an 18mp Image (the default for ClearCam when using an iPhone 5 and saving the image using the Enhanced mode). The original image can be found below.
First of all I used PhotoToaster to edit the image. This was done by cropping the image in closer towards the Cows and applying the Realtor filter to the photo, to help brighten the grass and trees a little. Next I used the app Laminar to apply the 3-Strip Technicolor Fx to the image to help deepen the colour of the sky. I also used the same app to apply the Craquelure Style to the picture to make the image look a little more like a painting. Finally I imported the image back into PhotoToaster to apply the Canvas texture and add the Shadow II frame.
The original photo was taken down the road from Tile Hill Train station. I liked the look of all the Cows gathered near to the tree in the middle of the field.
