Lichens growing on Baraboo quartzite, Devil's Lake State Park, Wisconsin. Colonies of this type of lichen tend to coalesce into larger colonies when they collide.

The quartzite is a deep red and the lichens are gray-green.

Next to the lovely canal can be found this beautiful gem . Gargrave, Yorkshire ,Uk

Taken at Nash Point at sea level. The tide was too far in to go for a walk so it was perch on the rocks for a sunset. The rock formations are fascinating at Nash Point but I feel that there is almost too much texture in this shot with the rocks and cloud formations! This is how it was that evening so thought I would upload it.
