One of the woodpiles in our little forest, waiting to be hauled in closer to home. The sudden and hefty snowfall that we had a few days ago nearly covered this pile and the sun and wind have worked their magic in texturizing the snow that's stuck to the ends of the logs. I love the look of a well-stacked woodpile, especially when combined with winter snow. This one just had to be photographed. One of these days the logs will be laid on the fire in our woodstove to keep us cosy on frosty winter nights but for now they'll remain sleeping under their blanket of white.

celand has many beautiful waterfalls and Seljalandsfoss, an 80 m high waterfall on the Seljalands River coming from the Eyjafjallajökull glacier, is a popular one near Reykjavik in South Iceland. In winter Seljalandsfoss has a complete different look with the cliffs covered with snow and ice and many icicles. This is a small waterfall that is a short walk down the valley from Seljalandsfoss that had some wonderful textures in the cliffs on either side. BTW Eyjafjallajökull is also the name for the infamous local volcano that spontaneously erupted, wreaking havoc to air traffic in the north Atlantic for several days.

The Kokolik River is in the northwest part of Alaska ... In the Arctic ... so basically out in the middle of nowhere. I was on a canoe trip last year down the river.
Thanks Lenabem-Anna for the use of the texture.
