Recently stumbled across my first digital camera, the Canon G6, and thought I'd take a few shots to see how it compares to the output from the more sophisticated digital SLR's that I've used since. Subject matter may not be very inspiring, but I was impressed with the quality .......150511cdw0271
August testing can be so tough! Summer vacations. Back to school time. There are a lot of distractions! So proud of all of our students who prepared and did their best at the August Belt Testing!
With the interior complete I took Me, Me and myself out for a test run. As usual I had to drive while I navigated and got a sleep in the back.
Official testing for Petronas Asia Road Racing Championship 2013 at Sepang International Circuit. Top racers : Katsuaki Fujiwara, Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman, Zamri Baba, Ahmad Fuad Baharudin, M. Fadli, M. Zaqhwan.
Lighting Details: 540EZ with snoot+tiny add on snoot on camera right and very low to highlight the jewelry and show some texture on the slate. nikon sb-25 bounced up against a 18x36 white foam core board held above the set by the photographer. Wasn't getting enough control from the snoot at this scale, so I added some "barn doors" out of a cardboard box to the end of the 12" snoot so that there was just a little slit doing the highlighting.
Composition is a little static, but turning the necklace just about any other way really caught the light.
Rocks are from "Mexican Beach Stones" from Home Depot, and everything is sitting on a single slate tile (also from Home Depot) on my kitchen island.
After having been driven out to Lisle, Bolingbrook and back on Saturday, March 17, my Fiero sat in the garage for the next three days, and then refused to start Tuesday, March 20.
Dave Armstrong, my mechanic, couldn't look at it until that Thursday; I flat-bedded it to his shop courtesy of AAA. And wouldn't you know it, when he disconnected the electrical connection to the TBI and had me start it, it roared to life! But then, it promptly stopped again. He tested the spark; nothing wrong there. I wondered if it could have had anything to do with my fill-up at BP that Saturday. He said there was a possibility if sediment in the underground tank had been stirred up. He gave me a bottle of GM fuel system cleaner; hopefully that clears up the problem.
A bit of a summer project.
Taking two redundant Hornby Mk IIa BFK vehicles and splicing them together a reasonable representation of a corridor first can be made. This can then be used as the basis for Test Car 6.

As a test, this morning I focused my Takumar bayonet 28mm before attaching it to the camera. ;-) I set it (as near as I could; there's not much showing on the distance scale between 3m and infinity on this lens) using the calculated hyperfocal distance for f/5.6. Then, walking down Katoomba street, without aiming - or even stopping in my walk - I clicked the shutter a few times.
Worked pretty well, I'd say. 8)

High resolution test of my camera program on an old picture (from 2012 in California) of Tigger. I used my iPad and it grew quite hot to the touch when generating this image. I may have to add limiters to my program to prevent damage to devices...
