1984 - 1991
The Paris Motor Show in October 1984 saw the return of the glorious Testarossa as heir to the 512 BBi. Pininfarina’s design broke somewhat with tradition and was striking and innovative. The side intakes were larger than on the previous model and this constraint saw the introduction of the long side strakes that would become the Testarossa’s most recognisable feature.
The evolution of the 12-cylinder boxer engine saw it equipped with four valves per cylinder: the most powerful engine mounted on a production sports car at the time of its launch. The Testarossa was a model that took its name from the company’s history, being derived from the successful 500 and 250 Testa Rossa series of sports racing cars from the late fifties.

Its sometimes very easy to forget just how cheapened the Matchbox range has become under Mattel ownership. A quick glance at this 1980's era Ferrari Testarossa immediately reminds you of the differences between it compared to post 2012 castings.
Not only are you not likely to see a Ferrari in the Matchbox range ever again but you are also unlikely to see one with a metal baseplate and working suspension. To see no progress in the 30 years since this model rolled off the production line is almost criminal!

This moc was abandoned a while ago, reason being I couldn't find better ideas to improve & complete the design.
The flaws are obvious, because only SC wheels scales best with an 8-wide build, and with these wheels I couldn't use any wheel fenders at the front as I wanted to keep the front end low.
And it's unfortunate red colour parts cost a lot more in my country, and I had quite a few spare light blu grey parts too.
So the end result is a Testarossa in wrong colour and with lots of gaps.

Just a quickie render of a design I come up with while messing with a chibi version I've had for a long time. I have a few other ideas yet but as a solid basic version I really like this even if the side vents are a little basic to say the least
Rouven built the Ferrari Testarossa and created a write up of the build, read about it below! 👇 Hello, everyone,
today I can finally present a model again, which I built up the last few days.
It is the Ferarri Testarossa, which is a MOC from "Loxlego".
When I first saw the model featured on Rebrickable, I fell in love instantly.
Unfortunately, I also had to realize at this point that the vehicle could not be built cheaply, so I rejected the wish to build the vehicle.
During my summer vacation, the model caught my attention again and I researched a little more intensively how I could get the parts I needed cheaply. Additionally, I went to the trouble of documenting all of my "loose" parts in Rebrickable so I could see what parts I already have needed. And there really weren't that few of them.
Ultimately, the vehicle consists of my own components that I already own and components that I ordered from Bricklink.
I got the stickers from "forwartsticker.com".
In total, I needed about 6-8 weeks to get all the parts.
Since I'm not a fan of different-colored pins, I got all the common pins and axles in red and black, so that the vehicle looks almost flawless when it's finished. I even got the gimbals in black.
The Loxlego instructions consist of a PDF with over 1200 photos that visualize each construction step quite well. I think there were two small bugs here, but they didn't pose any problems.
Many thanks also to Eugen Teledezki for the rims created according to my wishes. These look confusingly similar to the original rims and simply look great on the model.
I chose the CaDA tires because they simply have the nicest tire profile.
I built the vehicle without PowerFunctions, since the 1:8 models are known to be too heavy and only moderately agile.
Nevertheless, the model has some nice functions that can be performed manually with the help of gears. This includes, for example, opening the doors and trunk (front) and adjusting the seat backrests.
Finally, all I can say is that I had a lot of fun building it and I think it's one of the most beautiful 1:8 models. #ferrari #testarossa #lego #rc #toy #design
When Majorette took over the owners of the Portugese Novacar range of plastic diecasts they continued the line for a few more years as a budget alternative. When I received this kind charity shop found gift a few days ago I assumed it would say Novacar on the baseplate but instead Majorette.
Using plastic didn't diminish the crispness of this casting and probably explains why there are no paint chips even after all these years!

I was never really into cars growing up, and even if I were, it was the '90s, so the Testarossa (or its later variants, the TR and the F512M) would never have found itself postered on my bedroom wall. As an adult, though, I'm absolutely in love with the last of the sharp-line and angular Ferraris, before the shapes became organic and curvy.
The inspiration for this build came just a few days ago, as one stopped literally right in front of me at an intersection as I was walking to the subway from work. My jaw must have hit the ground, to see it--and hear that V12--that close was awe-inspiring.
El más complicado de todos los supercoches de fotografía por su posición tan encerrada por la barrera y el muro. Afortunadamente lo tengo fuera del museo sin esas condiciones que me impiden captar los ángulos que me gustan y sin esas luces tan malas.
As you can see, the toughest supercar in the exhibit to photograph for its position caged in between the rail and the wall. Fortunately, I do have it outside of the museum where I could get the angles that I like and without those bad lights.
