Not many more iconic rear-ends than this!

The '80s classic. Beginning production in 1984, this mid-engine beauty features a flat-12 producing 390hp. While (relatively) slow by today's supercar standards, this sleek design is iconic.

This is another refresh of an older model of mine. The updates are not major, though it has been built completely from scratch and I feel I have been able to improve a lot of the small things that I didn't like on the previous version. In particular, the roof-line and windshield proportions have been adjusted, and I've narrowed the rear sloping pillars to flow in line with the roof. There are additional updates to the bodywork on the sides and rear, and I was excited to make use of the great F40 rims.

'Colour me strange'. The challenge here was to build a car in an unusual colour, specifically excluding black, red, yellow and blue as the main colour of the car. Obviously white is fair game. Since red is probably the colour most people would associate with Ferrari, a white Ferrari is a little bit unusual in that respect as well.

Ferrari's flagship model, the Testarossa supercar revived a famous name from the Italian company's past when it arrived in 1984. A 'next generation' Berlinetta Boxer, the Testarossa retained its predecessor's amidships-mounted, 5,0-litre, flat-12 engine, which now boasted a maximum power output raised to 380 bhp at 6.300 rpm courtesy of four-valve cylinder heads. Despite the power increase, smoothness and driveability were enhanced, the car possessing excellent top gear flexibility allied to a maximum speed of 290 km/h.

Rivalling Lamborghini's Countach for presence, the Pininfarina-designed Testarossa succeeded brilliantly, the gill slats feeding air to its side-mounted radiators being one of the modern era's most instantly recognisable – and copied - styling devices. A larger car than the 512BB - the increase in width being necessary to accommodate wider tyres - the Testarossa managed the trick of combining high downforce with a low coefficient of drag, its graceful body being notable for the absence of extraneous spoilers and other such devices. Despite the increase in size over the 512BB, the Testarossa was lighter than its predecessor, the body - its steel doors and roof excepted - being, somewhat unusually for a production Ferrari, of aluminium. Luxury touches in the well-equipped cabin included air conditioning, electrically adjustable seats, tilting steering wheel and plentiful leather. Unlike some of its rivals, the Testarossa possessed light controls and was relatively easy to drive, factors which, allied to its outstanding performance and stunning looks, contributed to an instant and sustained high level of demand. Today the Testarossa remains surprisingly undervalued, representing exceptional value for money among 12-cylinder Ferraris.

This particular Testarossa was sold new by the French Ferrari importer, Établissements Pozzi, to a Megève-based client, and from 1995 to 2012 belonged to one owner, a resident of Saint-Nazaire. Only some 27.000 km have been covered from new, and the car remains in beautiful condition. Maintenance is fully documented in accompanying bills; significant works include a service by Ferrari specialists, Garage Barteau, at 11.417 km (in 1995) while at 20.209 km (in 2000), both cylinder heads were dismantled and serviced, again by Garage Barteau, at a cost of 58.000 francs. Another service was carried out at 23.545 km (in 2003).

In 2012, by which time it had covered fewer than 25.000 km, the Ferrari was bought by its next owner. While in his ownership (in 2014) a major service was carried out to include changing the cam belts, checking valve clearances, fitting new front brake pads, and changing all filters and fluids (invoice on file). Purchased by the present owner in 2014, the Ferrari has since then formed part of his extensive collection of classic cars, seeing relatively little use. Presented in the rarely seen colour of Giallo Fly, with black leather interior, this superb Testarossa is offered with instruction manuals, cancelled French Carte Grise, and the aforementioned service history.
