Diwali or not, I'm always working on stuff. Earlier when testing my app, I realized that the ambient light from my room was being disturbed by the lights setup around my neighbourhood. So I tried to mimic the same so as to create flares in my shot. And viola!

Detector tijd: 70 us ( instelbaar van 70 tot 500 us 16 levels).
Ruisfilter: 10 ( 16 levels selecteerbaar via display menu range 5 - 50).
Gebruikte draad: Naaigaren dikte 0.10 mm kleur bruin.
Testen op zwart werken eveneens met dezelfde instelling.
Snelheid van beweging speelt geen rol ( opstelling op glijbaan).
Quick test which hints at cheap filters being a pain for night shots. I might test it on a day shoot before giving the world a chance to buy it off me on ebay.
I must point out the shortcomings of this test. Only one sample of each filter was used, and only tested on one lens for one exposure, and clearly the better performances were in different lighting conditions (though I think flare and ghosting would be more likely with a darker background/higher contrast).
This is my first (successful) test of coffee processing (Caffenol). It was 7 minutes in the solutions. Film was Rite-Aid 400 speed color film. My first tests were 12 and 15 minutes and the film was very dark. I did not know whether longer or shorter was the way to go, but apparently shorter worked better. Still not great.....
7 minutes agitating for 5 seconds every minute. 30 second stop bath. 5 minute fix. Cold water rinse.
I might get clearer film if I fixed longer??????????

Poor me.
Godiva Chocolatier makes excellent chocolates but occasionally they sneak in a stale one; so before I could risk sending some as Christmas gifts, I had to buy a beautiful collector tin and taste some for my self. With three layers like the one shown in the picture, the test was grueling! I had to taste each and every one. This time they passed with flying colors* and I bought some more for gifts. Now I don't want to give them away.
*Sadly Godiva, along with every other American company I know of, has no grasp of what a chocolate truffle is really supposed to be. I haven't seen any of those three ounce missal nose cones from Hollywood in a long time; but there are still all manner of things on sale that are too large with shells that are too thick and fillings that don't melt properly. Godiva at least knows that they are supposed to be bite sized.
They do not know, however, that a real truffle filling is specially formulated to melt at body temperature. Real truffles are hand made on a chilled marble slab because of this low melting temperature. The outer shell, if any, is just barely thick enough to keep your fingers from melting it during the trip from the tray to your mouth. Truffles are frequently coated with cocoa powder which is slightly bitter to stimulate the production of saliva which enhances taste and speeds melting. This bitterness is very momentary because the truffle melts almost instantly in the mouth and the filling causes a chocolate wave to explode through the brain creating endorphins along the way. As the wave passes each neuron in the brain, the sensation is relayed to its corresponding part of the body.
What a rush!
The things Godiva sells as truffles are delicious but they don't come close to the Belgian variety. I recently learned that Godiva was selling a line of Legacy Truffles. I raced the store to purchase two of their circa 1946 original dark ones. They were the correct size, and had the hand made look with the cocoa powder coating. They resembled the fungal truffles for which the chocolate ones are named. They looked perfect. I popped one in my mouth and it was STALE! So was the other. I eventually decided that they weren't actually made in 1946, but I have eaten chocolate that I know was over a year old and it was fresher. Godiva is a fine chocolatier, but when it comes to truffles; they just don't get it.
Even so, I am looking forward to the next grueling taste test.
I felt that the skull inside the helmet got a bit lost in all the shadow, so I decided to add a few warm white LEDs to the inside upper visor area. The result is haunting and awesome

Layers and paint and removed paper create patterns on a concrete wall in Brooklyn
There isn't really a lot to say about this photograph, but there might be a few things to ask. This was more or less a quick "grab shot," taken while walking not far from the waterfront at the Brooklyn Bridge Park, where it isn't uncommon to find places where various signs and billboards have been posted and then removed.
So, what you are looking at here is the result of various layers of paint and the after-effects of material that was glued to the walls and then removed. I think it is interesting to ask what you see in these patterns when you look at them. The more I look the more I see, but I won't try to convince you that what I see is the "right" thing to notice, and I think that lots of other interpretations are possible — or that you might even choose to simply see it as a place where stuff was removed from a black and green wall!

A famous test conducted by Albert Bandura where children were divided into different groups to watch a video of an adult exhibiting violent behavior of a bobo doll. there were different oputcomes of the video and the children who saw the adult actor get scolded for acting agressively toward the bobo doll were less likely to act agressively toward it when they were placed in a room filled with bobo dolls. this demonstrates that behavior and gratification can be learned and that peopole are going to be less likely to participate in something that has a negative outcome.
Paul Dieter prepares to test a metal-based hydrogen membrane in the testing facility at National Energy Technology Laboratory.
NETL has completed permeability testing of the 48th composite metal membrane foil for hydrogen separation. The focus of the project is to develop membranes with high hydrogen flux and selectivity, and improved mechanical durability for implementation to the gasification process. NETL has developed and operates unique facilities for testing the performance of membranes at temperatures (up to 1000c) and pressures ( up to 1000 psi) not available at other laboratories. Membranes are evaluated by testing attributes such as permeability, sealing, contaminate exposure, multi-constituent separation and durability. The focus of the group is to develop hydrogen and carbon dioxide separation technologies for the gasification process.

Testing my friend's newly bought D3100 with the kit lens. This is my first experience of using both camera and the lens. The camera body feels smaller than my D5100 and lighter, but it is not too much of difference.
My first experience with Nikkor 18-55mm kit lens is the auto focus is really quiet. Even though my 35mm prime share the same Silent Wave Motor, mine feels a little bit noisy when the focus rotates (I can hear screeching sound sometimes).
Sharpness comparatively speaking, of course my prime blows the kit lens out of the water and it has nice colour rendition as well. But if I zoom in with 18-55mm produced image, I can say it is still okay and sharp. Suffice to say, it's an okay lens for anyone who is starting out.
