This flower is ~8mm wide. Minimum focusing distance of this lens is something around 80cm, but it's quite small distance, keeping in mind 600mm equivalent focal length.

Mmm.... definitely a much nicer performer than the 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 kit lens (which broke after 2 weeks of light usage, no less!)
