first printing of Helium for the Periodic Table project. I'm not happy with all the white space, so I think I'll do a very pale solid blue background layer, then put pale grey clouds and a bright red balloon. Might also try to paint a bit of yellow or orange onto the sun to make it more firey. Lots to try anyway.
Testing what may be my new camera once my back is sufficiently recovered to carry a backpack again, hopefully in the new year. As you would expect, I’ve carried out a rigorous, highly scientific test:
1. Can I carry it? Yes, all the way to the garden, no problem at all.
2. Does it fit in my pack? Probably. It’s around here somewhere.
3. Will it focus close enough to photograph a small pile of frosty leaves? Yes.
4. Are said leaves sharp? I should say so.
5. Will it photograph other stuff? I don’t see why not.
6. Have I comprehensively compared it to other cameras? Not really. I like this one.
7. Was it an impulse Black Friday buy? Maybe. I don’t see what that’s got to do with it.
8. Have you told the wife? No need. She can’t tell it apart from the old one.
9. So that’s that then? Yep. Proper job.

I went out a couple weeks ago at the peak of leaf peeping season to take advantage of all the incredible colors. As usual I took a quick "throw away" shot just to test my settings. I knew this wouldn't be a keeper because it is such a cliche and I assumed I'd need to adjust my settings to account for the dark, rainy morning light. After a couple 100 shots, it turned out that this was one of my favorites.
The Flamingo Test is a single-leg balance test that is part of the Eurofit Testing Battery. It is used to evaluate static balance and overall body balance. The test assesses the ability to balance successfully on a single leg and is commonly used as a field motor test of balance for healthy subjects and athletes.
Just testing out some CTO filters. I tried to create a very warm color temperature model with a very cold color temp background using CTO filters. I set the WB for the BG and then adjusted the WB after in DPP so it was appropriate for the person thus turning the BG very cold. Next time I will set WB to Tungsten which will give the model the appropriate WB and the BG cold. It can then be all done in camera. Not quite the ideal location but it was just a test.
