On a crisp July 1988 morning an Orange - Lithgow passenger duty headed by 4838 drops down into Gresham. The distant signal, down running line, rolling stock and train service depicted in this scene have all since vanished.
WIT: This is more engineering than art. I have a flash with red gel and narrow snoot under the bulb. The flash and the pile of books supporting the bulb and solar panel are covered with black fabric. A second flash is hand-held off camera to put a little light on the panel. In post, I changed the WB to tungsten because I thought it looked more "powerful" and cloned out some of the larger bits of dust from the panel.

Expired Fuji 200asa C200 colour print film, converted to B&W in iPhoto.
This one was re-scanned to a higher resolution at home.
It's interesting to compare it (in original size) to the 98p Tesco scans of the other 'Takumar People' shots.
Although it shows off the wonderful resolving capacity and contrast of the 40 + year old Super-Taki 50mm prime to a much greater extent, I think the Tesco jobs come out far better than one might expect from the file sizes and super-cheap cost.
If you wish to get dirt cheap Minolta AF film bodies to work with cheap adapters, you need to consult this:
