This little lens had lots of use, it has some minor cleaning scratches, but it renders beautiful, sharp and contrasty images.

Recently I got a couple takumars.. I made the picture using the most desirable one, macro-takumar 50mm/4 preset, check out the starry background...

Before I had to fix some loose screws in the macro lens, I´m so glad it´s working fine now!

Here's the old s/h Minolta 500si, fitted with a £4.99 M42 adapter, and Pentax Super-Takumar 50mm f1.4 lens that was used to take the 'Takumar People' photographs in the photostream below.

This camera cost £11 - with a camera bag, roll of film and "plastic fantastic" Minolta 35-70 f3.5~4.5 zoom lens, fitted with a Hoya 1B skylight filter, all thrown in.

I'm absolutely delighted with this little combo, and it's 1st rate performance.

It's been so good, I might even treat it to a roll of "in-date" film!

When I first fitted the adapter to the camera though, it wouldn't work.

There's a "safety" shutter lock mechanism that kicks in if a non-electronic lens is mounted.

You have to go to this (very helpful!) website (link below) to learn how to fix things at the push of a couple of buttons in the right sequence. This disables the shutter lock for this model, and it lists different cheats for other AF Dynax/Maxxums too. Works perfectly as per recipe.
