"I immediately thought about connecting to the art my father created. He loved incorporating all kinds of mythological, spiritual, and musical symbols into his sketches, paintings, and colored pencil drawings. So, here I started with a modified ankh which was one of his favorite symbols. He also preferred to use saturated, vibrant colors, so I tried to do that. I also incorporated a small infinity symbol at the bottom.
I started with the sketch of the ankh and outlined it with acrylic paint. I filled in spaces with watercolor and then used acrylics over those spaces by placing dots of color (connecting the dots . . . get it? reinforcing the prompt) and using a palette knife to smear the paint. This is my first time using acrylics and I really like the textured effect! I was going for an ocean wave look in parts. The effect in the stem of the ankh looks a little like roots to me and I like that. At the top, I dotted white, yellow, and metallic gold and then used a small brush to make a spiral connecting the dots. I really like how that turned out, too. I'm not super happy with the purple, blue, yellow section on the right. It seemed too dark and muddy, so I lightened it up with more blue and yellow. It will have to be good enough.
Notice the judgy look of Bacon."

The Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe (German: Denkmal für die ermordeten Juden Europas), also known as the Holocaust Memorial (German: Holocaust-Mahnmal), is a memorial in Berlin to the Jewish victims of the Holocaust, designed by architect Peter Eisenman and engineer Buro Happold. It consists of a 19,000 square meter (4.7 acre) site covered with 2,711 concrete slabs or "stelae", arranged in a grid pattern on a sloping field. The stelae are 2.38m (7.8') long, 0.95m (3' 1.5") wide and vary in height from 0.2 m to 4.8m (8" to 15'9"). According to Eisenman's project text, the stelae are designed to produce an uneasy, confusing atmosphere, and the whole sculpture aims to represent a supposedly ordered system that has lost touch with human reason. A 2005 copy of the Foundation for the Memorial's official English tourist pamphlet, however, states that the design represents a radical approach to the traditional concept of a memorial, partly because Eisenman did not use any symbolism. An attached underground "Place of Information" (German: Ort der Information) holds the names of all known Jewish Holocaust victims, obtained from the Israeli museum Yad Vashem.
Building began on April 1, 2003 and was finished on December 15, 2004. It was inaugurated on May 10, 2005 and opened to the public on May 12 of the same year. It is located one block south of the Brandenburg Gate, in the Friedrichstadt neighborhood. The cost of construction was approximately €25 million.

To Be With Christ
"Then I looked, and behold, a Lamb standing on Mount Zion, and with Him one hundred and forty-four thousand, having His Father's name written on their foreheads." [Revelation 14:1]
The apostle John was privileged to look within the gates of heaven, and in describing what he saw, he begins by saying, "I looked, and behold, a Lamb!" This teaches us that the chief object of contemplation in the heavenly state is "the Lamb of God, which takes away the sins of the world [John 1:29]." Nothing else attracted the apostle's attention so much as the person of that Divine Being, who has redeemed us by his blood. He is the theme of the songs of all glorified spirits and holy angels. Christian, here is joy for you; you have looked, and you have seen the Lamb. Through your tears, your eyes have seen the Lamb of God taking away your sins. Rejoice, then. In a little while, when your eyes shall have been wiped from tears, you will see the same Lamb exalted on his throne. It is the joy of your heart to hold daily fellowship with Jesus; you will have the same joy to a higher degree in heaven; you will enjoy the constant vision of his presence; you will dwell with him forever. "I looked, and behold, a Lamb!" Why, that Lamb is heaven itself; for as good Rutherford says, "Heaven and Christ are the same thing;" to be with Christ is to be in heaven, and to be in heaven is to be with Christ. That prisoner of the Lord very sweetly writes in one of his glowing letters--"O my Lord Jesus Christ, if I could be in heaven without Thee, it would be a hell; and if I could be in hell, and have Thee still, it would be a heaven to me, for Thou Art all the heaven I want." It is true, is it not, Christian? Does not yoy soul say so? "Not all the harps above can make a heavenly place, if God his residence remove, or but conceal his face." All we need to make ourself blessed, supremely blessed, are "to be with Christ." Hallelujah God bless

It wasn't that easy reaching royal heights in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, but today all you need is a ladder and a sense of balance.
A second visit to Berrington Hall , this time while we were staying locally in the area near Leominster.
Berrington Hall is a country house located about 3 miles (4.8 km) north of Leominster, Herefordshire, England. During the 20th century it was the seat of the Cawley family.
It is a neoclassical country house building that Henry Holland designed in 1778-81 for Thomas Harley. It has a somewhat austere exterior, but the interiors are subtle and delicate. Berrington Hall is home to the Elmar Digby furniture collection, paintings by, amongst others, Thomas Luny (1759–1837), and the Charles Paget Wade costume collection from Snowshill, which can be viewed by appointment. The 'below stairs' areas and servants' quarters that are open to the public include a Victorian laundry and Georgian dairy. Berrington has been in the care of the National Trust since 1957 and is, along with its gardens, open to the public.
Berrington features Capability Brown's last landscape design. A notable feature is the ha-ha wall, which was subject to extensive renovation in the late 20th century by local craftsmen. Berrington Pool, a lake and island, is a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
Berrington had been in the possession of the Cornewall family since 1386, but was sold in 1775 to Thomas Harley, a banker and government contractor who in 1767 had been Lord Mayor of London. He commissioned the rebuilding in 1778-1781 of the present Berrington Hall in place of the previous old house. He made it available to his daughter Anne and her new husband George Rodney, the son of Admiral Rodney. After Harley's death the house descended in the Rodney family for 95 years.
In 1901 the Manchester businessman Frederick Cawley MP, later Baron Cawley, purchased the estate. In 1957 the 3rd Lord Cawley transferred it to the Treasury, which passed in on to the National Trust. Lady Crawley was allowed to remain in occupation until her death in 1978.
It was classified as a Grade I listed building in 1959.
Sign - Recreating the Flower Garden and Pleasure Grounds.
Why is the garden changing?
Berrington's garden and parkland were the last complete design of the eighteenth century landscape architect, Lancelot 'Capability Brown. Brown was commissioned by Thomas Harley, the first owner of Berrington, to create a garden and landscape which complemented his neo-classical mansion.
Many years of research into the walled garden and pleasure grounds have revealed that original eighteenth century design elements have become hidden over time, meaning the garden has lost some of its year-round horticultural appeal.
Over the next few years, we'll be recreating the original theatrical experience of the garden through creative, herbaceous planting, spectacular structural features and improved accessibility with a new circular path network and surface.
This will bring the original experience of the garden to life and recreate a garden which more closely aligns with Brown's eighteenth century vision.

I had to rip this out and start over because it was just too wide, and the yarn is extremely bulky. I want to be able to actually wear this, so I started over with casting on 20 stitches and the size is much better. Since I had to start again, this time I decided to take some videos of the knitting because it's so interesting to me to knit this yarn and I want to remember it. The pattern is Wham Bam Thank you lamb! by insaknitty, which you can search for here and on ravelry, or I put a link in the set description.
