Pictures from our early morning arrival back to Seattle on Disembarkation Day (September 9th, 2022) after our amazing visit to Alaska. On board the Royal Caribbean Ovation of the Seas for the seven night Alaska Experience Cruise (September 2nd through 9th, 2022). The cruise embarks from Seattle, Washington and the itinerary includes stops in Juneau (AK), Skagway (AK), Sitka (AK) and Victoria (British Columbia, Canada) before heading back to Seattle.

Castle to Crane is the biggest open water rowing race to be held in Scotland. 13 miles of fierce racing from Dumbarton Castle to the Finnieston Crane in the heart of Glasgow. A fleet of 75 rowing boats raced up the Clyde on Saturday the 15th September.

*Weather scenario: This week’s storm was just the latest in a long string of West Coast storms this winter. California has experienced harsh winter conditions with half a dozen similar storms over the last few months. Although flooding and power outages have been problems for many, the winter storms have brought drought relief for the mountains and farmland. Since October 1, California has measured 200-300% of its normal rainfall in that period, wiping away a drought of over three years. Snowpack was also above 150% of normal for this time of the year. Snowpack is important for the watersheds in the Sierras that supply millions with drinking water and invaluable irrigation to the farmlands in California. Snow was expected even in the SF Bay area as the cold core of the storm drifts south. Accumulating snow near sea level is quite rare in the Bay Area. The last measurable snow in SF was February 25, 1996. Although accumulating snow is not expected for the city center with this system, forecasters were calling for snow-capped hills at elevations above 500 feet. Is the drought finally over?

We popped down to Oxford to see our daughter and her boyfriend.
They live 10 minutes walk from the river which leads into Oxford and we often go down there and pop into one of the riverside pubs for lunch.
We actually sat in the garden in the sun, at the end of October.
