Welcome to Utah's Morrison Formation! The shale, the clay, the eroding Entrada Sandstone overburden!

The scenery may not be as impressive as red rock country, but this is the arid earth on which the late-Jurassic dinosaurs lived and died; where the fierce, meat eating Allosaurus stalked his prey; where the 80-ton Brachiosaurus munched fern fronds; and where the Stegosaurus, that armor plated beauty, laid and protected her eggs. Here you are truly walking with the spirits of the dinosaurs! I find this thought mind-boggling!

And this is the formation in which you find that most colorful fossilized dinosaur bone....

Textures are great fun to play with, yet they can be great time-wasters unless they are in the hands of the experts who have this down to a science...we all know who they are. In the meantime, we continue to learn from the best... as we diddle and dabble. :)

Therefore, my homage to texture:

A texturized photo layer which promises no assured improvement, whatsoever, when added to an existing photo.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR VISITS AND SUPPORT!!! EXPLORED....thank you friends!

Dedicated to you, with your comments that you have allowed my shot to go on Explore.

Thank you very much

His harnes is just a standard H-type and I don't recall where we got it. The leash is a spiral "bungee" that came with Snow White's Come-with-me-Kitty harness. Much more from my walks with Snow White and Rags in the album "Walking the cat" and also in the video "Snow White Goes Walking"

I failed to find time to visit this building for Open House, but the exterior still provides some opportunities for photography.

On your pilgrimage to the Refugio alle tre cime you pas the Forcella lavaredo

This is probably the most impressive place in the whole of the Alps and Dolomites and justly a very popular tourist spot. The road from the Misurinapass (1757m) is quite hard. The gravel road going from the Rifugio Auronzo is easily cyclable to Rifugio Lavaredo (1.7 km). From there you will have to walk 930m to the pass. This is recommended for the fantastic views from up there. No wonder this is the most popular place to visit in the Dolomites!

6M94 Margam to Corby accelerates along the Up Derby Fast passing the deserted Tarmac plant at Washwood Heath with 66119 at the head. A working that usually departs Landor Street 20 to 30 minutes early making it pretty much impossible to photograph at this location an 04:06 departure on this particular morning, 16 early, made it just possible to capture.

Riverview Hospital is a Canadian mental health facility located in Coquitlam, British Columbia. It operated under the governance of BC Mental Health & Addiction Services when it closed in July 2012.

In 1904 the provincial government purchased 1,000 acres (400 ha) in then-rural Coquitlam for the construction of Riverview Hospital.

Patients were originally housed in temporary buildings, and in 1913 the building that would eventually be called West Lawn began treating the 300 most seriously ill male patients. The building was originally constructed to hold 480 patients. By the end of the year it housed 919.

Today the building stands condemned and the site is often used for movie sets.

Thank-you for all the overwhelming support and many friendships. Wishing you all health during this difficult time.

The 4 day weekend is almost over and I know I have the full day today left. But I am back home, back putting up the decorations and getting ready to start the work week again. I had a great holiday weekend and I am looking forward to my 9 days off around the Christmas holiday. But until then lets continue on the "fixer up" program

Kiriwong, South Thailand, captured in 2016, was my first 'serious' attempt at landscape photography after just having picked up my first full frame camera, the Sony A7m2. I remember it well, the water was icy cold (surprisingly) and I was stood in it for more than an hour before the sun eventually passed over the mountain behind me. It was a daft decision but then I was super keen back then. I also remember my fear in entering the water in the dark too, I had no idea what might exist in there this being Thailand after all, and given my present knowledge I probably wouldn't do it again without my wellies on!

I did manage to make a decent capture though and remember feeling quite proud of my achievement although given that I did actually take more than 100 shots I didn't exactly have much of an excuse had I mucked it up. The problem, however, was my processing skills at the time and if I had thrown a pot of purple paint over the image it couldn't have looked any worse. So here is my 2020 version which doesn't look that much different to the original raw file to be honest.. shadows lifted, whites boosted with a touch of split toning and Bob's yer uncle!

Thank you for wading by :)

The last days of a dandelion.

A rain wet Going to the Sun Highway in Glacier National Park runs through the forest along McDonald Creek. Completed in 1932, the spectacular, 50 mile long Going-to-the-Sun Road bisects the park east to west. The paved two-lane highway spans the width of Glacier National Park and crosses the Continental Divide at 6,646-foot-high Logan Pass. It passes large glacial lakes and cedar forests in the lower valleys; canyons and cliffs; culminating at the windswept alpine tundra atop the pass. Scenic viewpoints and pullouts line the road offering dramatic views and photo opportunities.

The road is nationally significant for its design and monumental engineering accomplishments. The original roadbed, bridges, tunnels, culverts, retaining walls, and guard walls were built in the “NPS Rustic” style. Individually, these structures are often significant examples of period engineering and design philosophy; collectively, they comprise a vital, integral component of the road’s unique character. Most of these structures were designed to harmonize with the roadway setting by using native materials and by blending with landforms as much as possible. The Going-To-The-Sun Road is a National Historic Landmark, is included in the National Register of Historic Places and is a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark.
