I wanted to get a shot of the Aquilegia in my garden before they went over but it's been too breezy the last few days to get anything properly focused so had to go back to basics & bring one indoors :)
Went to the woods yesterday and just couldn't resist!

Slowly but sure where pushing towards Caen, unfortunately Jerry doesn't feel like running away just yet and we have to fight hard for every inch of ground.
Here at the back of the front line its pretty quite and we don't have to worry to much, our biggest fear is a mortar attack for the rest we have it easy compared to the front line. We can hear the noise of fighting in the distance, in between the moments, when we fire our rounds.

can be remarkable in the appearance of a bird... this one out in the open is very different looking than those seen in the shadows

Prince Humperdinck: I don't think I'm quite familiar with that phrase.
Westley: I'll explain and I'll use small words so that you'll be sure to understand, you warthog faced buffoon.
Prince Humperdinck: That may be the first time in my life a man has dared insult me.
Westley: It won't be the last. To the pain means the first thing you will lose will be your feet below the ankles. Then your hands at the wrists. Next your nose.
Prince Humperdinck: And then my tongue I suppose, I killed you too quickly the last time. A mistake I don't mean to duplicate tonight.
Westley: I wasn't finished. The next thing you will lose will be your left eye followed by your right.
Prince Humperdinck: And then my ears, I understand let's get on with it.
Westley: WRONG. Your ears you keep and I'll tell you why. So that every shriek of every child at seeing your hideousness will be yours to cherish. Every babe that weeps at your approach, every woman who cries out, "Dear God! What is that thing," will echo in your perfect ears. That is what "to the pain means." It means I leave you in anguish, wallowing in freakish misery forever.
That's a long quote/encounter for a description of a figure, but I love the entire scene so much I thought it rather fitting to put it all in.
So, this is my Dread Pirate Roberts/Westley figure. This is the only other figure I have planned as of right now for The Princess Bride, but like I said in my Inigo post, if you want more, just say so.
The way we were. How many of us have been rescued by our friendly Automobile Club. I would reckon, over the years, few have failed to use their services. In fact, in my book one of the few organisations round today that you can have trust in....and I hope they realise that and keep working to ensure that sort of reputation endures.

I've been SO busy this week I sent out three cakes that I didn't have time to photograph. I've been having a mare getting my cakes level. I usually use a spirit level as I'm cutting and covering the cakes, but as soon as I started to stack them, they were looking slightly off. I thought my spirit level may be broken but I realised my new work tops aren't quite square!!!!
Just when I believed I couldn't ever want for more
This ever changing world pushes me through another door
I saw you smile
And my mind could not erase the beauty of your face
Just for awhile
Won't you let me shelter you
Hold on to the nights
Hold on to the memories
I wish that I could give you something more
That I could be yours

Massive lightning strike next to solo tree over rural gravel road in Southern Manitoba
During our trip, one of the most spectacular things I have witnessed was the intense thunderstorms that continued after the sunset. The lightning strikes were easily 1 or more every second, some of them bright enough to make it look like day time.
When you get strikes this often, you begin to be picky about the shape and position of the strikes... We stopped on the roadside to try to capture some strikes and stumbled upon this grain silo in the middle of a field. Despite having plenty of strikes, we wanted one right above the silo. I think all of us in the group managed to capture this stunning cloud-to-cloud strike.

Sentosa is an island resort in Singapore only about half a kilometer away from the southern coast of the main island of Singapore. Visitors can get to Sentosa by car, by public transport, by cable car or by foot. This photograph shows the light rail and the boardwalk towards Sentosa. The boardwalk runs parallel to Sentosa’s vehicular bridge (not seen in image).

More vintage processing to salvage camera/operator error. I have been back since though. Apart from condensation on the lens the trip was far more productive.
Auschwitz II-Birkenau gatehouse; the train track, in operation May–October 1944, led directly to the gas chambers.
Birkenau was the largest of the more than 40 camps and sub-camps that made up the Auschwitz complex. During its three years of operation, it had a range of functions. When construction began in October 1941, it was supposed to be a camp for 125 thousand prisoners of war. It opened as a branch of Auschwitz in March 1942, and served at the same time as a center for the extermination of the Jews. In its final phase, from 1944, it also became a place where prisoners were concentrated before being transferred to labor in German industry in the depths of the Third Reich.
The majority—probably about 90%—of the victims of Auschwitz Concentration Camp died in Birkenau. This means approximately a million people. The majority, more than nine out of every ten, were Jews. A large proportion of the more than 70 thousand Poles who died or were killed in the Auschwitz complex perished in Birkenau. So did approximately 20 thousand Roma and Sinti, in addition to Soviet POWs and prisoners of other nationalities.
To be honest, I thought that this was actually an old church, but the sign said Balmae School District.

Tribute To George Michael by Daniel Arrhakis (2016)
With the music : George Michael - One More Try
and : George Michael - Careless Whisper (Official Video)
Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou (1963 – 2016), known professionally as George Michael, was an English singer, songwriter, and record producer, initially a member of the music duo Wham.
He was best known in the 1980s and 1990s with his style of post-disco dance-pop, with many best-selling songs such as "Last Christmas", "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go", "One More Try", " Careless Whisper", and many others ....
My special homage to this unique artist that marked a entire generation, a generation who fought for freedom and the acceptance of the right to a different sexuality !

All the photos I present were taken in the town of Taormina (Sicily);
I made photos related to "street photography";
I made portraits of people I did not know, this certainly thanks to their sympathy and availability, I thank them very much;
I tried to capture the essence of minimal photographic stories, collected walking down the street ... in search of fleeting moments ...
For some photographs I used a particular photographic technique at the time of shooting, which in addition to capturing the surrounding space, also "inserted" a temporal dimension, with photos characterized by being moved because the exposure times were deliberately lengthened, they are confused -focused-imprecise-undecided ... the Anglo-Saxon term that encloses this photographic genre with a single word is "blur", these images were thus created during the shooting phase, and not as an effect created subsequently, in retrospect, in the post-production.
---------------------------------------------------------
Tutte le foto che presento sono state realizzate nella cittadina di Taormina (Sicilia);
ho realizzato foto riconducibili alla “street photography”;
ho realizzato dei ritratti di persone che non conoscevo, questo certamente grazie alla loro simpatia e disponibilità, li ringrazio davvero molto;

From ancient times to the present, philosophers have repeatedly emphasized the importance of living a frugal or minimalist life. The ancient Greek philosopher Diogenes said, “True wealth is not in increasing possessions, but in reducing one’s needs.” Mahatma Gandhi pointed to the destructive side of human greed, stating, “The Earth has enough for everyone’s needs, but not enough for everyone’s greed.” From the Buddha to Karl Marx, across the passage of time, many have expressed similar ideas. This minimalist concept in philosophy has greatly influenced the photographer, and its mark is clearly visible in his vision and framing.
The absence of color or the use of minimal composition in framing reflects the photographer’s inclination toward a minimalist approach. The fog, wrapped like a thick winter blanket, creates a serene atmosphere. In this calm and pure dramatic setting, human presence becomes secondary. Before nature, even humanity’s vast achievements become insignificant. That is why the photographer has kept humans and their architectural achievements in the background, framing the scene in a minimalist style. Here, nature is the primary subject—not humans or their constructions.
According to nihilism, or the philosophy of pessimism, human life does not has inherent purpose. Evolutionary theory has shown that humans are an unintended outcome of nature’s evolutionary process. Yet human beings, regarded as the finest of creations, continue to exploit all their knowledge and effort into seeking meaning in life. They establish ever-greater architectural structures upon the heart of nature. In proving their superiority, they seem to challenge nature itself. Viewing nature as an adversary, humanity gradually distances itself further and further from it.

Thanks to all that have followed me this year, stopped by and been good enough to fave or comment on my photos, it is much appreciated. I hope you have a peaceful Christmas and Happy 2025!
On Sunday we went to Goodwood Festival of Speed, which you must go to if you like cars and or motor racing as it's such a fun day out. We were supposed to be meeting my Grandad there but unfortunately he was admitted to hospital that morning, so if he couldn't come to Goodwood then Goodwood must come to him. Hence I took a stupid number of shots of cars and one of Lewis Hamilton [you have to squint] and a few other famous people [according to my dad] who I didn't know from Adam. Sadly he won't get to see them.
So this is for you GD, I like to think that in your last hours high on all that morphine that you were driving bloody fast, smoking a big fat cigar and sticking your fingers up at the world. xx
