Looking Close on Friday - Shades of Purple

Happy Looking Close on Friday everyone.

Here we have a little wooden train, from the board game Ticket to Ride.

Sandomierz: historic town in south-eastern Poland.

It was a royal city of the Polish Crown and functioned as a regional administrative centre from the High Middle Ages to the 19th century.

Sandomierz is one of the oldest and historically most significant cities in Poland.

The first known historical mention of the city comes from the early 12th-century, when the chronicler Gallus Anonymus ranked it together with Kraków and Wrocław as one of the main cities of Poland.

Thanks to the Wikipedia;)

..or a sight to behold :)

Typically restricted to rocky shores, black guillemots utilize the cliffs, crevices and boulders for their nests, hunting the inshore waters for benthic prey. Compared to other auks they forage fairly close to the colony, in the breeding season mostly in inshore waters more than 50m in depth, farther afield in the winter months.

They dive for food from the surface, swimming underwater. They mainly eat fish and crustaceans, also some mollusks, insects and plant material.

The Tower of London in all its glory looking innocent and majestic yet this was the scene of so much horror- torture and murder and political games. Owned by the Queen it was built by William the Conqueror as a fortified palace. It imprisoned Elizabeth 1 at one point and very much later the Kray twins. It has held the Royal Mint and other offices and of course the Crown Jewels! Note also front left the entry to the Traitors Gate now bricked up.

Its scent, reminiscent of dark chocolate, unfolds in warm summer weather in the late afternoon hours. It is sometimes referred to as a chocolate flower, but differs from the true chocolate flower (Berlandiera lyrata) mainly by its flower color, which varies from a dark purple brown to dark red. Other German trivial names for Cosmos atrosanguineus are black cosmee, scented chocolate flower or, like all species of the genus, cosmee and jewelry baskets.

Happy Tuesday all! :)

To be able to withstand the heat, even Lady Liberty is asking God to send her a umbrella, she only wants some shade...

Beautiful day, almost 40 Celsius, 97, or a bit over with the heat index.

To make it better, a nice Rose wine would make it just perfect.

Good day everyone...

De Amerongse Bovenpolder is na 25 jaar van plannen maken in 2016 omgevormd tot de grootste natuurparel in de Utrechtse Uiterwaarden. Het gebied is nog unieker en mooier gemaakt door de aanleg van kwelmoeras, nieuwe natuur en een kwelgeul.

The katana belongs to the nihontō family of swords, and is distinguished by a blade length (nagasa) of more than 2 shaku, approximately 60 cm (24 in).Katana can also be known as dai or daitō among Western sword enthusiasts, although daitō is a generic name for any Japanese long sword, literally meaning "big sword".[ As Japanese does not have separate plural and singular forms, both katanas and katana are considered acceptable forms in English.

Pronounced [katana], the kun'yomi (Japanese reading) of the kanji 刀, originally meaning dao or knife/saber in Chinese, the word has been adopted as a loanword by the Portuguese. In Portuguese the designation (spelled catana) means "large knife" or machete.
