Before heading out to catch my flight, I had a chance to photograph some of the magnificent Icelandic horses in a pasture near Akranes.
This marks the end of my Iceland series. Hope you enjoyed it. I'll be taking a flickr spring break but will be back in a bit....

We headed to beautiful Santa Cruz, located at the California coast across the hill from the Silicon Valley. We first stopped at the picturesque town of Capitola just south of Santa Cruz.
I processed a photographic and a paintery HDR photo from three RAW exposures, blended them selectively, carefully adjusted the color balance and curves, desaturated the image, and increased the contrast and curves for this overexposed look. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

It's the season to sparkle and old or young, one cannot help but stare in wonder at all the colorful displays. As for this image, it was snowing when I set up my tripod. Consequently, I went for a compromise between allowing enough exposure to show some detail in the darkness but it was long enough that the snowfall made things a bit hazy.
On our way home from Bath we stopped to visit an Osprey nest. Two juveniles in the nest with mom 150ft away. Mom calling, presumably urging them to fly. Finally this young female moved towards the edge of the nest and took flight! Mom right behind her. She flew ~ 100 ft around the nest then back for a rest. Incredible:)
As you can see the juveniles have orange-red eyes which will change to yellow when they reach adulthood. They have white down like feathers fringing the edge of their wing feathers (primes etc). So glad Kipp was with me to settle the monopod.
------I have taken a major set back in recovering from a surgery I had last October. I am now on medical leave from work. I cannot pick up a camera and typing flares my symptoms. So catching up with your lovely work is unlikely. From here on, perhaps a few words. Will get back to Flickr slowly. I miss you all so much! And I especially miss my camera.
Be well, Flickr friends!

I learned to drive on a car just like this. A 1953 Studebaker Commander. I have always thought it was one of the most beautiful cars in the world. It was stick shift and so much fun to drive.

Often you light a candle for someone else and think of the other person you want to pray for: people who are sad; people who are sick; people who are facing a difficult challenge; or simply people who are close to your heart.
It is native to South Central and Southwest China. The leaves are mostly 10–20 cm long and 7–15 cm wide and are ovate to heart-shaped. Davidia involucrata is best known for its inflorescence that features white bracts surrounding a purplish-red flower head. Each flower head with a pair of large (12–25 cm), pure white bracts at the base performing the function of petals. On a breezy day, the bracts flutter in the wind like white doves or pinched handkerchiefs, hence the English names for this tree.

While watching the sun slowly set over the Aegean Sea I thought of Flickr friends and thought I would set up this glass of Alpha beer to you. Luckily it didn't fall as there were seagulls waiting below hoping for something.

The Protestant Church of St. Katharinen, which dates back to the 13th century, with its 115 meter high tower cannot be overlooked when you are traveling in the Hafencity in Hamburg.
It is considered the oldest upright building in Hamburg that is still in use.
Due to its proximity to the harbor, it is considered the sailors' church. That is why she also bears the name of Saint Catherine of Alexandria, the patron saint of sailors and merchants.
Since Hamburg was one of Europe's centers for trade and shipping at the time, this makes perfect sense.
Further to the left in the background you can see the church of St. Nikolai, which was destroyed in the Second World War and of which only the tower remains today as a memorial.

Last year we made a trip to Scotland and London during the Easter holidays. We left London and took the amazing Caledonian Sleeper train and arrived to Edinburgh in a cold frosty morning (first photo in the comments). We are not used to that kind of weather. At noon we picked up a camper van to made a road trip to the Highlands. Our first stop was the amazing Cairngorms National Park. Really Really cold. We took a walk to the nearby Loch Morlich and we were witnessing a perfect dusk. The colors in the sky were amazing. You can see it in the second photo in the comments below. We had dinner in the camper van and we went to bed. At one moment during the night the heater went off due a lack of heating gas, and we were freezing. We woke up early and then, through the windscreen we were seeing the snow coming down. It was quite a moment. Kids were running in the Park, playing with other kids, and took another walk to the Lake, this time with a totally different view. No more colors in the sky or trees. For us an unforgettable moment.
