This is the region between the original Alternating Graident Synchrotron (AGS) linac and the AGS itself as it appeared in 1960. 50 MeV proton beams leaves the linac at the upper left corner and travels down the 4 inch pipe to the lower right, passing through a series of focusing lenses and steering magnets. Just above the man in the foreground is a set of steering magnets for horizontal and vertical deflections. Several items of test gear necessary for proper adjustment are also located in this region. In the foreground is a "viewing box" with lucite covers over the drive mechanisms. The man in the background, wearing a head set for communication to the control room, is standing by an identical box. The pipe extending diagonally across the aisle is the exit pipe from an analyzer magnet which bends protons through about 25 degrees in order to allow a determination of the energy spread of the protons.

This system is built in a greenhouse and the source of water is a giant fish tank. These fish will grow up in the tank and will be used as food. The water is pumped into the pvc piping system which has been made into plant "baskets".

The IBM System 360 is an IBM mainframe computer, released in 1964. It was the first computer to separate architecture from implementation: the 360 had different models with different prices. Slightly modified radiation hardened versions (System/4 Pi) of this machine are used to control the Space Shuttle.

Starting in October 2012, the second ARM Mobile Facility (AMF2) was deployed on the Horizon Lines cargo ship Spirit for the year-long Marine ARM GPCI1 Investigation of Clouds (MAGIC) campaign, traveling between Los Angeles, California, and Honolulu, Hawaii. The purpose of the deployment was to understand and parameterize clouds, precipitation, aerosols and radiation, and the interactions among them.

Sub-irrigation is an alternative to overhead sprinkling where seedlings are watered by flooding a wide tray containing pots. Sub-irrigation can save water in areas where water is scarce and water can by recycled. Nutrients leached from the containers can be returned when the water is recycled. Watering is more even than with overhead sprayers. Leaf wetness is also reduced. Seedlings of ohia (Metrosideros polymorpha), Hakalau National Wildlife Refuge, Hawaii.

Pipe trench from the septic tank to the WET system. The fall is very shallow and the pipe is close to the surface. This means we won't be able to drive anything over that part of the field again, ever.

This compares camera systems overall for a much simplified overview. Like the previous table, there are exceptions but this is a coarse summary intended to provide comparison at a glance.

A context free grammar with associated transforms in the plane and RGB space made these...

rules like

a -> bc

b -> bd

but never like:

d -> dd

each symbol is associated with a rotation, shift and scale in the plane, and a step in a direction in he RGB color space.

There are to real terminal symbols, termination occurs when the sub-tree would be less than a pixel in size, and the pixel at the resulting position is coloured.

Much like an L-System, I would say.

Actually because the tree overwrites itself in the image, does that make it context-sensitive, in that the result depends on other symbols? Certainly you need the image buffer as well as the stack to represent the process.

A toilet built around 1930! in the underground cellars just outside the wagonway entrance door, which are inside an inner gated area. It was built into one of the arched cellar rooms and this blocked off access hatch shows the lead plumbing system. These lead pipes seem to run to the bottom of the toilet bowls and urinals, are too large for water pipes, but the same size as the soil pipes around the rest of the main house. There are brackets for water cisterns above the toilets, but all the plumbing for these have been removed.

The panel discussion Poetic Systems looks at system-theoretical approaches at the nexus of art and architecture. Where can system theory, a sociological concept, be applied outside of its original discipline? Which dimensions are opened up by artistic research, an artistic viewpoint or Art Thinking in combination with system theory – and which new points of intersection emerge? Speakers with backgrounds in sociology, architecture, art and scientific research gather here to share their insights on this topic.
