The flux system of the University of British Columbia during the 2016 summer campaign at Illisarvik. The eddy covariance system consisted of a CSAT-3 ultrasonic anemometer-thermometer, a Li-7500 open path infrared gas analyzer, and a Li-7700 open path methane analyzer. It was installed to quantify greenhouse gas exchange over a drained permafrost lake basin to quantify methane exchange.

This is a high throughput membrane screening system. It tests 16 membranes simultaneously, which means we can screen materials about ten times as fast as by conventional means. It was designed and built (and patented) at NETL to look at mixed matrix membranes. Those are polymeric membranes that incorporate metal-organic frameworks into their structure to improve performance. The application is post-combustion CO2 capture.

Yes, I cheat and cut LEGO pieces sometimes.
In this instance, I cut two blue push rails and two flex tracks in order to make a module to transition from one type of track to the other.
The module is 16 studs long, which means I can now have a track configuration featuring both types of tracks without having to worry about how to tie up the loop.

The Yamanobe no Michi is perhaps Japan's oldest road. Records of it appear in the 8th century Nihon Shoki (Chronicles of Japan) and in the Man'yōshū collection of Nara period poetry compiled sometime after 759 AD. The road runs through Nara, offering a view of gorgeous landscapes dotted with mountains, farms, old temples, shrines and examples of old Edo period architecture. I hiked 12 of its 16 km and couldn't think of a better way to spend a day.

At last, the Contax Yashica Flash System brochure has arrived. These three booklets are an invaluable source of information on the C/Y system. The 46pp Yashica Lenses booklet is from around 1978 I'd guess and the 32pp gatefold booklet on the Flash System is from 1982. The Contax Yashica Close-Up System booklet has 42 pages and dates from 1983/4. They all contain a wealth of information and excellent photos and system charts.
Owing to their fisherman’s reporting system and growing relationship with the fishing industry, the skipper of Emily K, Falmouth, had reported a string of pots which had been lost in the winter storms.
A team of seven volunteer divers from the charity, specially trained to survey and recover lost fishing gear, set off from Mylor on board Moonshadow.
3 teams of divers searched north and south of the given marks and encountered one end of a string of pots, covering some distance to confirm the string was lost.
One of the teams found pots leading off the reef down to 33m depth, ending with the main line tangled around a boulder and a frayed snapped rope. They surveyed 12 pots in detail, finding a lot of crab and lobster still alive in the pots.
Another team found the other end of the string which stretched almost half a mile across the reef with over 30 pots. They marked this with a surface marker buoy for the return the next day.
Deemed too many to recover onto the dive boat in one go, the skipper was in contact with the local fishermen discussing whose gear it could be, to arrange assistance to recover it. The owner was contacted to discuss recovery options and he confirmed that the string should have 36 pots, lost 12-18 months ago.
The divers recovered 12 pots freeing 35 Edible Crab, 7 Spider Crab, 3 Lobsters, 10 Starfish, A flatfish and a Scallop (all alive except for 3 edible crabs) The remaining pots were marked with a buoy for the fishing vessel to recover onto their larger boat the following Monday. The divers had cleared all pots of obstructions over the 2 dives, so hauling onto the vessel was straightforward.
Jamie of Emily K told us “We were delighted to have a string of pots we’d lost in the storms, recovered. The work you’re doing is fantastic for the inshore grounds and fleet. Please keep up the good work. “

A context free grammar with associated transforms in the plane and RGB space made these...
rules like
a -> bc
b -> bd
but never like:
d -> dd
each symbol is associated with a rotation, shift and scale in the plane, and a step in a direction in he RGB color space.
There are to real terminal symbols, termination occurs when the sub-tree would be less than a pixel in size, and the pixel at the resulting position is coloured.
Much like an L-System, I would say.
Actually because the tree overwrites itself in the image, does that make it context-sensitive, in that the result depends on other symbols? Certainly you need the image buffer as well as the stack to represent the process.

The Karate Kid loosely follows plot elements from the first and second Karate Kid films. The Karate Kid (1984) and The Karate Kid Part II (1986). This game doesn't include The Karate Kid Part III (1989), because that film came out after this game was made.
There are four levels in the game, and they play out as the movie goes. It ends with Mr. Miyagi (Pat Morita) winking at the player (you) from the screen.
The game begins with Daniel LaRusso fighting in the All - Valley Karate Tournament (the location for the first Karate Kid film's climax). Daniel then starts the second level which is set in Okinawa (the primary setting for The Karate Kid Part II). There, he must tangle with random thugs who die in one hit while progressing to Chozen (Daniel's enemy in The Karate Kid Part II) at the end of the stage. In the third stage of play, Daniel is in a stage that is nearly identical to the second (with some tricky jumps) during a typhoon. The boss is Chozen again, and this time, there's a girl up on a pole that Daniel must save. It is not necessary to beat Chozen, only rescue the girl. The final stage is the festival after the typhoon. Daniel wears a new outfit for this stage and the random enemies are now tougher, requiring two hits to be felled. There are also enemies with spears who take even more hits to defeat. The final boss is once again Chozen, whom has a new twist.
Defeat Chozen (save Daniel's love interest Kumiko) and receive a wink from Mr. Miyagi at the end of the game.
