Forage Systems Research Center in Linneus, MO.
The Forage Systems Research Center works to improve the quality of forage grass and determines its best use. An early promoter of management-intensive grazing, it supports the agriculture industry through courses in rotational grazing, cattle management and the economics of beef and forage. The interactions of cattle, plants and soil are necessary in understanding cause/effect relationships in beef/forage systems. Since 1990, more than 3,000 farmers and educators from several states have attended the three-day intensive Missouri Grazing School.

For funzies. Pull the trigger back, and... let it go!
The launcher fires the ball successfully: it will remain airborne for about 1 ft after launch.
The smaller the piece to be fired, the further it will go... And the results would be even better if I could incorporate more springs...

Singapore Airlines was formed in 1972 when Malaysian Airline System wanted to concentrate more on its domestic network rather than international routes. Though Singapore was an independent nation by 1972, it and Malaysia had pooled their resources. Under the terms of the split, Singapore would keep Malaysia's Boeing 707s and 737s.
Because of the huge demand to fly to and from Singapore--which was becoming the crossroads of Asia--Singapore Airlines undertook an expansion rarely seen before or since in airline history. Only a year after being established, it was already ordering large batches of wide-body aircraft, namely 747s. It even for a time shared a Concorde with British Airways, until cost and protests from the Malaysian and Indian governments ended the joint flights in 1980.
By 1989, Singapore maintained a worldwide route network and ordered no less than fifty 747-400s. It for a time operated the longest scheduled flights in commercial history (Singapore-Newark). So successful was Singapore Airlines that Australia, Canada, and Indonesia passed laws preventing it from driving other competitors out of the Singapore market. It became the launch customer for the huge Airbus A380 in 2000, though this would be pushed back continually until 2007.
Recently, Singapore Airlines has run into falling passenger numbers coupled with high fuel costs, due to heavy competition in Southeast Asia. Nonetheless, it maintains one of the largest route networks in the world, as well as through its subsidiaries: Scoot, SilkAir, and Tigerair.
Singapore Airlines inherited a small number of 737s from Malaysian in 1972, and kept them in service until 1980, when they were replaced by A310s. Singapore's livery has undergone little change from the airline's formation. 9V-SIB is an incorrect registration; this actually belonged to one of the airline's 747s!

Came out beautiful, reclaimed wood top (built by us) and reused cast iron legs, from the sinks, from a 19-teens former unwed mothers and children's home in Buffalo NY. (a side note: Why was there no home for unwed fathers?...where were they in this situation?...perhaps the Erie County Jail? Maybe a laundry where they could work off their immorality like the ladies might have been apporpriate?)
In our shop at ReUse Action (Reuseaction.com) we fabricate slabs out of the barn beams and building materials we collect from salvage, deconstruction and demolition jobs.
In this project we re-sawed old growth, 3x8 barn joists from Bath NY. They are beautiful old growth southern yellow pine that was cut down in the 1870s-1880s and was hundreds of years old at that time. These trees probably predated the American Revolution. I count about 120 rings per 8 inches!
The slab was built and finished with satin, water-based polyurethane. Nail holes, checks and divots were filled to a high level of finish with West System, clear epoxy. One can see to the bottom of the holes.
The cast iron base was reclaimed from a bathroom of the former unwed mothers and children's house on Harvard Place in Buffalo. It was built in the 19-teens and these legs were ganged together and held up back to back cast iron sinks. We stripped them and repainted them with satin enamel and dry brushed them with pewter paint to highlight the graininess and the embossed letters and other interesting details from the casting.
The distance between the legs was shortened and the threaded rods were shortened and re-threaded to match the length of the table. Matching feet were made and added to the bottom of the legs and levelers were added. The old square head nuts and bolts were saved, cleaned and re-used to preserve the original look.
It is on display in our store and available for $950 in the store. We bases to make 2 more of these, to any length and custom widths and other wood tops. See reuseaction.com
After - oh - MONTHS of not having my computer hooked up at home (long story) I finally got it together last night.
Woke up EARLY this AM and have been luxuriating in my non-vinyl music for hours now. YAY.
Should I go to Junior today? Hmmm...

SYSTEMS OF SILENCE = Billy Ray Martin + Junior Vasquez
www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8VoJ9I31hA
You sit like a shadow
inside a shadow.
TV kills another soul.
You don't know why the phone never rings on Sundays.
The walls are alive
from the lights outside
it's like a film inside a film.
The city's gonna teach you the part one day.
And you shield your weakness...
But they know your secrets.
Still I feel like dancing with you
in systems of silence.
We turn in a secret ballet all around and
between the sounds and the sights.
The fears will be fading away
in systems of silence.
I just want to dance all the way
right down to the core of the black and the white.
You live for the city
breathing its illusions
with your hands against the wall.
Another day has coached you into surrender.
You're feeding its emotions,
walking its desires
like a dance you can't perform.
The city's gonna teach you the steps one day.
And we lost our senses
Hey, hey
But I'll take no chances.
Still I feel like dancing with you
in systems of silence.
We turn in a secret ballet all around and
between the sounds and the sights.
The fears will be fading away
in systems of silence.
I just want to dance all the way
right down to the core of the black and the white.
[if anyone knows the last bit of lyric PLEASE come forward with info. I hear the gist; I know the words, but I can't quite transcribe the phrases:
And the fears / and the priests / and the ____
that controls you
and you give yourself up
and you're real spread eagle - ?

Top: Linn Turntable of some sort.
2nd Shelf Left: CD Player; analog out ($20,000)
2nd Shelf Center: Network DAC; knows FLAC, MP3, AIFF, etc. The rep says it performs better than their CD player. I didn't ask the cost, but figure somewhere in the $20k range.
3rd Shelf Center: Analog Preamp
Bottom Shelf Left and Center: Power conditioners
The stack on the right consists of four 500 watt amplifiers each responsible for powering a single driver in the top most cluster of the right speaker and the bottom shelf is an electronic crossover. The cluster consists of a super tweeter, tweeter, midrange and mid bass.
Connection went something like this:
CD Player -> Preamp -> Crossover -> Amps -> Speaker
This was the best system of the show. Not by a long shot, but it was the best.
