The “Collide Sound System” are four rotating cilinders that the audience can control. The soundscape that each sound system will produce will be sound engineered with Binaural beats to emphasise the different dimensions of the soundwaves. The sound cilinder rotate the sound waves will collide in several spots in the space, this will create an extra musical layer that our brain will try to fill this gap. The audience have the abillity to explore the space and experience how the soundwaves will travel in the space. They become more aware of the space and the many possibilities how sound waves can create different acoustic atmospheres as well as experiences.
THESIS: Sonitus
Today many designers, architects, sound artists and politicians are working on how to create a better acoustic environment and soundscape atmosphere in the urban landscape. The relation between surroundings, sight specific objects and sonic artworks have the ability to engage with the aural environments in public spaces, creating areas for people to enjoy these acoustically engineered harmonic spaces. These spaces could add to a better social connection between the people and the surroundings, which in turn might increase the liveability in cities and their urban environments.
Hurricane Matthew left behind shocking devastation, and this map shows the scale of the destruction. The red dots on this map represent homes which were completely destroyed in the centre of Les Cayes, a commune with some 70 000 inhabitants. The map was produced by the EU Copernicus system, which is providing satellite images in order to help with the assessment of damage.

Recently acquired from Video Games New York, who just moved from St. Mark's to their new location on 6th Street. A two-minute walk from our apartment, they're open until 11:00 and carry video games both old and new.
Along with my NES, I brought home the following games: Super Mario Bros / Duck Hunt, Metroid, Ghosts & Goblins, Blades of Steel, Joust, and Tetris. Kathryn just bought a copy of Bubble Bobble, a blast from her past, off of Ebay. I'm on a waiting list for The Legend of Zelda (gold cartridge, of course).
The twelve-year-old in me is grinning ear-to-ear.

Christiana Care Health System has partnered with CORD:USE, the nation's foremost cord blood banking organization, to ensure that mothers are educated and provided a safe and effective way to donate their babies' cord blood. This cord blood is used for treating patients with life-threatening diseases and in biomedical research.
To date, more than 70 different diseases are currently treated with umbilical cord blood stem cells such as leukemia, lymphoma and sickle cell anemia. While other health systems bank cord blood, Christiana Care is the only hospital system in the Philadelphia-area that partners with CORD:USE.
Lt. Governor Denn spoke at the exciting event on the importance this partnership has not just for Delaware families, but national and international families.
Cuban amateur boxing system
Foreign influence contributed to the development of Cuban amateur boxing. Before Fidel Castro took power in 1959, Cuba’s achievements in amateur boxing were diminutive. Components of their boxing style were derived from American Professional Boxing. After the Revolution, Eastern European methodology replaced the American influences. Andrei Chervenko of the Soviet Union has trained Teofilo Stevenson and Europe’s Vasili Romanov has trained boxers as well.
The Cuban amateur boxing system along with other sports programs start in grammar schools. Sports are considered a high priority in the Cuban education system and its there a potential athlete can be recognized. From the age of 12, talented youths are sent to specialized schools where they can focus on enhancing their skills. From there the young boxers train throughout a very competitive youth program. The ones that graduate from the program are sent to the top school in Wajay, where they train advanced drills and exercises. The support that the state gives is crucial to the advancement of the highly technical boxing program.
Amateur boxer Teofilo Stevenson who had won three Olympic gold medals in (1972, 1976, and 1980) has made many contributions to Cuba and Cuban boxing. He is equally known for his sportsmanship, receiving the UNESCO Pierre de Coubertin Fair Play prize in 1989. After retiring in boxing in 1986 he has served both in the Cuban parliament and as a vice president of the Cuban Boxing Federation.
After a career of fighting for their country most Cubans continue to stay in the sport, many as administrators or trainers. Through this way the knowledge and experience is passed down to the next generation of athletes. This is a shot of my whole system. On the left is a Sauder shaker cherry audio pier with a ca.1970 Marantz Model Twenty Six receiver and topped with a late 1970s Marantz 6350 direct drive turntable. On the back of this pier is a Russound AB-3.2 automatic selector switch that controls which receiver is sending to the speakers. On the right is a Sauder shaker cherry TV stand with a Vizio VO47LF high def LCD television. In the component space below the TV is an older Sony progressive scan DVD player also doing double duty as a CD player. Right below that is a Motorola DVR unit. The sound from both these units is run through the Integra DTM-5.3 receiver on the bottom shelf and out to the Definitive Technology BP7006 Bipolar Supertowers on either side of the stand. Each of these loudspeaker towers has two tweeters, two mid-range drivers and a built-in powered subwoofer.
I think it's a nice mix of the old and new.
