The BJRY swicthes out Dial soap in Montgomery, IL. This crew said some very funny stuff about the light snow that started coming down right after I took this shot!
Apparently, it takes four locomotives to pull the Southern Pacific #9010, the last remaining German Krauss-Maffei ML4000C'C' diesel-hydraulic locomotive, out of the Niles Canyon Railway's restoration shop.
There's a clear family resemblance in the styling of the cutting-edge "automatic reflex" Nikon F and its predecessor the Nikon SP. This is in contrast with the Canonflex which was more of a break from their rangefinder roots.
When railfanning we often forget those associated with making the engine pix we take work. Here a carman resets the switch to the main after the train has left the yard siding in Henderson NC. Earlier in the day I saw him chipping ice and snow on the switch so he could throw it at a different siding.
More local action at Collier and Christie. I couldn't stay long enough to get a shot of the GP-60M at the lead heading back to Richmond.
