i know, i have photographed this place so many times...yet everytime i go back there is a different mood and the landscape has changed so much....This is Alcochete, the river Tagus and a really low tide. On this day, the sky was beautiful (well, nothing new!) but the light was amazing and there was only these two people picking seashells and us, me and my friends. The wind was blowing hard letting us antecipate the end of summer and leaving a certain feeling of emptiness, though a luminous emptiness.

Clowns can make us dream, smile, laught and cry.
They can be a powerful tool for social changes too.
At the Project Health and Happiness there is the Mocorongo Circus where educators
(like this dear friend, Magnólio, beside Jardel, at this portrait) teaches about health, prevention of illnesses and sustainable developing. People from the communities helps the circus show developing themes, being actors and public at the same time :)

(...)
El mar llena sus sótanos de pasos,
de campanas, cadenas y gemidos,
tintinean metales y utensilios,
suenan las ruedas de la caravana.
Pero sólo tu voz escucho y sube
tu voz con vuelo y precisión de flecha,
baja tu voz con gravedad de lluvia.
Pablo Neruda
I could just sit there watch the ocean come and go. I luv the water splashing on the rocks. (I think, I will play around more often with small appertures and long exposures. It's fun!)
"It takes a lot of imagination to be a good photographer. You need less imagination to be a painter, because you can invent things. But in photography everything is so ordinary; it takes a lot of looking before you learn to see the ordinary. "
David Bailey
One of my favorite quotes. I think i have read it, somewhere on the web, a while after i joined Flickr and today, i can't agree more. I still need to improve my capacity of seeing the ordinary but, when i look back, I feel I've been a fairly good student. :) Anyways, too many nigths of Flickr chatting until late :)) need some sleep. hugs. mat
It was rainning hard in Lisbon today. Meteorologists said that it rained more today, than in the last year in October and November, altogether. Climate has been changing in Portugal and everywhere, we now have longer summers and floods during the rainy season!

Last Sunday, when I was hiking on a mountain near Porto, I found some youngsters planting corks, oaks, and other tree species, and replacing the unwanted ones... We owe them the Future... :) Here are some of the heroes...

The night before the day we were there, it was a full moon night. High tide was the highest tide of the year. The waters went above the wharf, the fishermen said. The wooden path was still wet and very slippery. We had planned to go there and shoot the scenery with lots of water however, the trip took longer than we thought and we missed it. Oh well, although i do my best at preparing my homework, sometimes i am just not good enough.

Nestled in the heart of San Francisco’s bustling financial district stands 351 California Street, an emblematic structure that whispers tales of the city’s storied past amidst its ever-evolving skyline. This historic gem, constructed in 1928, boasts a façade that harkens back to an era when craftsmanship and attention to detail were paramount. The building’s Renaissance Revival style is characterized by its intricate terracotta ornamentation and grandiose presence, offering a stark contrast to the sleek modernity of its towering neighbors.
As you approach 351 California Street, you’re greeted by a sense of nostalgia; it’s as if time has stood still for this architectural marvel. The lower levels feature ornate detailing that invites passersby to ponder about the skilled artisans who shaped each piece by hand. With its rich history interwoven into San Francisco’s cultural tapestry, this landmark serves not only as office space but also as a testament to architectural ingenuity from a bygone era.
For those with an appreciation for heritage buildings, 351 California Street is more than just an address—it’s a narrative etched in stone and mortar. It represents resilience, standing proudly against seismic shifts both literal and metaphorical. As part of San Francisco’s historical fabric, this building continues to captivate architects, historians, and tourists alike.
25th of April Bridge, or Salazar Bridge.
It is often compared to the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, USA and was constructed under North American management. Its total length is 2,277 m, the main span measuring 1,013m (17th largest suspension bridge in the world). It enbodies an important railroad line connecting Lisbon to the south, this line opened in 1999. At the time of its completion it was the longest suspended bridge in Europe, had the longest main span in Continental Europe, world's longest span continuous truss, and the world's deepest bridge foundation (82 meters).
The sister bridges are very special to me and so are the cities that hold them. Strong symbols, i say! Wherever i move, my heart always holds both. These are my cities, the best cities in the world, places i will always call home.

"All of us have done things in our lives we'd rather not have done, things that flood us with remorse or pain or embarrassment whenever we call them to mind. If we could erase them from our memories, would we? Should we?"
What if there was no light
Nothing wrong, nothing right.
What if there was no time?
And no reason or rhyme?
What if you should decide
That you don't want me there by your side.
That you don't want me there in your life.
What if I got it wrong?
And no poem or song..
Could you put right what I got wrong,
Or make you feel I belong
What if you should decide
That you don't want me there by your side
That you don't want me there in your life.

Hey you! Up in the sky
Learning to fly
Tell me how high
Do you think you'll go
Before you start falling
Hey you! Up in a tree
You wanna be me
But that couldn't be
Cos the people here they don't hear you calling
How does it feel?

Morning was beautiful! There was a touch of spring in the air...hey, ask me "Already?" Yes, already! The sun was really warm, light was beautiful, fields are now covered with yellow flowers. So, with a beautiful day like yesterday, nobody wanted to miss the opportunity to enjoy the day. Neither photographers nor their subjects. After all, it was sunday. So I sat there, on the floor, watching people going by. It was a great, great morning. Actually, as time goes by, photography becomes more and more like exercising. I need it so I stay healthy and strong. :) We will go back next sunday for new experiments, right friends? :)

Rabelos are very typical wooden boats (some say they resamble the ones Vickings used to build:))and were used to transport Port wine barrels from Régua (a small town up North) to Vila Nova de Gaia, where they were then stored. This type of transportation was used until 1965. The journey across the river would take up to 4 days and each boat would carry up to 8 barrels and 4 sailors. More about Port Wine here en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Port_wine#Traditions
A view of Porto from Gaia, a city across Douro's river.
The tourists come in droves, aboard buses, bicycles and camper vans. They stand at the water’s edge in awe of the icebergs floating before them - some as white as snow, others radiating a deep blue. They gasp when a chunk breaks off and topples into the chilly turquoise water.
Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon in South-East Iceland is one of the country’s top attractions. It is also a vivid warning of the glacier’s predicted disappearance, a devastating consequence of climate change in a nation where these slow-moving rivers of ice are a cultural and social touchstone.
this is the best spot to watch sunsets in Lisbon! The most amazing scenes and moods can be observed everyday on this pier. It's always different. I love the place.

GARE MARITIME AT TOUR & TAXIS SITE - Tour & Taxis used to be a huge freight station were many goods arrived and left Brussels. Around 1900 enourmous warehouses were built. Railways, loading and unloading quays were constructed. The freight station was known as Gare Maritime and had a surface of 4 hectares, the largest freight station of Europe. In 1994 the infrastructure was completely closed and in 2000 the railway was taken out of service. A huge part of the city was ready to be reconverted and become an experiment for sustainable urban development. Recently the Gare Maritime was fully renovated. It is a fine example of circular construction reusing materials available on site. It is an energy neutral building making use of renewable energy. It will become a new hub for culture, social activities, work, shopping and living in the future.
It's raining in Lisbon, bad day to go out and shoot. Days such as today's make you go through your old files and rescue them. Some of them you didn't like so much when days were shine and bright but hey, on a rainy day, this type of shot makes me happy, and that's for sure.
A towering windmill stands tall against a moody, overcast sky, symbolizing the balance between nature and technology. The dramatic clouds add depth, while the sleek turbine blades capture the essence of clean, renewable energy. This image reflects sustainability, modern engineering, and the power of wind harnessed for a greener future.
Digging back through my image library, I stumbled on this one and liked it, mainly because of it's rich colors..:)
17 Goals of Sustainable Development, 17 chapters of Corpus Hermeticum, where the occult meets the new global order. Don’t you remember the catchphrases that the politicians, media, and others used during covid? The Great Reset! Build Back Better! The New Norm! The 17 Goals of Sustainable Development are part of the United Nations Agenda 2030. The World Economic Forum also likes to talk about 2030: You’ll own nothing and be happy. Covid ushered us into the Great Reset. We will soon see Central Bank Digital Currencies, Digital IDs, and Social Credit Score Systems worldwide. Authoritarianism will come, and it will produce a tyrant. The Antichrist will then transition the world into transhumanism, the ultimate enslavement. 666 take the smartchip, otherwise you won’t be able to buy or sell. You’ll be locked out of the world system. You’ll be unable to work, buy food, pay rent, or see a doctor. This New World Order will be deceitful and satanic. Dive into paganism, into the occult, into a higher consciousness, into the hivemind of the Beast. Take the Mark of the Beast; it’s just one more tattoo, one more smart device. Live like gods…buhahaha!
As if you don’t already know all this stuff, it’s just review.

We'll do it all
Everything
On our own
We don't need
Anything
Or anyone
If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?
I don't quite know
How to say
How I feel
Those three words
Are said too much
They're not enough

Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness,
Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun;
Conspiring with him how to load and bless
With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eaves run;
To bend with apples the mossed cottage-trees,
And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;
To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells
With a sweet kernel; to set budding more,
And still more, later flowers for the bees,
Until they think warm days will never cease,
For Summer has o'er-brimmed their clammy cell.
Who hath not seen thee oft amid thy store?
Sometimes whoever seeks abroad may find
Thee sitting careless on a granary floor,
Thy hair soft-lifted by the winnowing wind;
Or on a half-reaped furrow sound asleep,
Drowsed with the fume of poppies, while thy hook
Spares the next swath and all its twined flowers;
And sometimes like a gleaner thou dost keep
Steady thy laden head across a brook;
Or by a cider-press, with patient look,
Thou watchest the last oozings, hours by hours.
Where are the songs of Spring? Ay, where are they?
Think not of them, thou hast thy music too,--
While barred clouds bloom the soft-dying day,
And touch the stubble-plains with rosy hue;
Then in a wailful choir, the small gnats mourn
Among the river sallows, borne aloft
Or sinking as the light wind lives or dies;
And full-grown lambs loud bleat from hilly bourn;
Hedge-crickets sing; and now with treble soft
The redbreast whistles from a garden-croft,
And gathering swallows twitter in the skies.

I don't really know why i love this shot but i do. It might be the sense of chaos, a certain sadness, and at the same time, the beautiness of the sky and the light that hits the subject that, really, makes me digg this one. i just have that feeling...
.
my land is alive
I see the ancient spirit
pure water
water's soul
my land, the old lady
embrace me
my land is life
I see the river's spirit

right at the edge where civilization meets the untamed, in the shadow of calvià's local health center, this scene unfolds—a subtle reminder of nature’s persistence amidst human encroachment. the wildflowers, delicate and resilient, bloom defiantly, their white crowns stark against a backdrop of blurred fields and marching power lines. these lines, like threads of a different kind, slice through the landscape, yet the flora beneath refuses to yield its ground. this image captures the poignant beauty of the natural world clinging to life in spaces dominated by human activity. it's a silent protest, etched in black and white, where every wild blossom is a quiet assertion of survival and grace.
