Standing right by the Midway Aircraft Carrier is this 25 ft. statue of the iconic photo taken Aug. 14, 1945, in Times Square New York City the day World War II ended. A sailor stopped a nurse, gave her a big kiss which was captured by a random photographer.

It become the symbol of the joy felt when the war was finally over. Called, "The Kiss" or "Unconditional Surrender" it's replicated here in bronze, overlaid with painted aluminum.

I had to post a collage because there were no people to show scale when we first got there in the morning.

It's true that all the men you knew were dealers

who said they were through with dealing

Every time you gave them shelter

I know that kind of man

It's hard to hold the hand of anyone

who is reaching for the sky just to surrender

who is reaching for the sky just to surrender.

And then sweeping up the jokers that he left behind

you find he did not leave you very much not even laughter

Like any dealer he was watching for the card

that is so high and wild

he'll never need to deal another

He was just some Joseph looking for a manger

He was just some Joseph looking for a manger.

And then leaning on your window sill

he'll say one day you caused his will

to weaken with your love and warmth and shelter

And then taking from his wallet

an old schedule of trains, he'll say

I told you when I came I was a stranger

I told you when I came I was a stranger.

I was actually planning on creating a totally different image for this week, but loved this as soon as I shot it. It reminded me of what direction I was wanting to take my photography, I had this idea a couple of years ago, of creating characters that lived in this lost in between place. A world that changes you, if only you can survive it. That's where most of my characters live, but you normally only see the dark effect and not the beginning. This character has yielded to this dark place; and with one fingertip, she has surrendered herself completely.

The 27 feet tall National Monument Against Violence and Aggression, better known as The Knife Angel installed in Chesterfield for a month close to the "Crooked Spire" Parish Church. The artwork was created by artist Alfie Bradley from 100,000 confiscated and surrendered street knives.

Found in the back yard; there are the perfect number of leaves - not so many that they need to be raked, but more than enough to serve as photographic subjects. :-)

This is me balancing on the bridge railing. Thank you Jeff Wallace for pushing my shutter!

You can Surrender

Without a Prayer

But never really pray

Without surrender

You can Fight

Without ever Winning

But never ever win

Without a fight.

The Building is the "House with Chimaeras" in Kyiv, Ukraine: An Art Nouveau building covered in animal gargoyles and grotesques.

The Polish architect Władysław Horodecki originally constructed the House with Chimaeras for use as his own upmarket apartment building during the period of 1901–1902.

Horodecki's unique architectural style earned him praise as the Antoni Gaudí of Kyiv.

Ahhhhh, I'm at the beach. And I wasn't all that excited at first, but then I saw it. OH GOD IT'S BEAUTIFUL.

Swimming in the ocean is awesome. The sunsets are amazing. (I'm by the Gulf of Mexico so the sun actually sets on this side)

It's really gorgeous... <3

This was actually post-sunset. The colors lingered in the sky for quite some time. djsjfksjdfkjds <3

Six rescue golden retrievers spend a week together in their previous foster carer's home while their forever families are on holiday. The dogs all enjoyed playing together again. None of the dogs were wearing collars and none are obedience trained so getting all six of them them into position and facing the camera at the same time was a challenge. Clockwise from front left are Ruby, Firestar, Lucy, Misty Rose, Loki and Hudson Bear.

It was talk like a pirate day...

or, in this case, dress like a pirate day ♥

Surrender to everything that is. It's not to be confused with giving up. For surrendering requires at the same time the greatest courage but is expressed in the smallest shifts. Sometimes barely noticeable through our sensory perspectives considering the great change these small shifts bring about. It's a matter of scale. We sometimes feel stuck in this box where bugs are small and trees are big, forgetting how everything is relative and not everything resides inside the box. We don’t learn (or we forget) how thoughts are energy, just as much as our actions in the material world. The same goes the other way around, when we attribute too much to physical action and even feel trapped by our own inaction at times, all the while being unaware that the world is still spinning and nothing is ever standing still. Trust the process. Let the waves wash.

The last maple leaves in early autumn sun.

This Sugar Maple Leaf was blown from my back yard, to the front yard in a wind generated by an Arctic cold front that cruised into Indiana on Tuesday. I noticed this contrast in seasons when getting ready to drive to work. The early morning sun lit the red leaf from behind, as it twisted in the wind back and forth in the depression in which it had come to rest. As if to resist the early onset of winter, and to declare its rightful place as Falls representative for another month, it seemed to be digging its way to a more permanent mooring in the new fallen snow.
