Drowning, yes.
But in the richness, the overwhelming presence...
Lost, but found in this submersion.......

"I don't know, I don't care
Cause I'm living without you baby
Even when I know what's going on
Yeah it only took, one look, one glance
To set my heart for romance
Do you believe my sweet surrender
My sweet surrender"
Is this real enough for you?
You were so confused
Now that you've decided to stay
We'll remain together
You can't abandon me
You belong to me
Breathe in and take my life in you
No longer myself only you
Theres no escaping me my love
Surrender
Darling there's no sense in running
You know I will find you
Everything is perfect now
We can live forever
You will surrender to me
There's no escaping from me

The 25 foot tall statue near the USS Midway Aircraft Carrier located in downtown San Diego, California depicts the famous Life Magazine image of a sailor kissing a nurse in Times Square as they celebrated the end of World War II in 1945.
The statue is a series of sculptures made by Seward Johnson.
Tourists enjoy taking their pictures assuming the same pose with a loved one at its base. A young couple asked me to take their picture while emulating "The Kiss".
Thank you for your comments,

"Whatever happened to all this season's losers of the year?
Every time I got to thinking, where'd they disappear?
When I woke up, mom and dad are rolling on the couch.
Rolling numbers, rock and rolling, got my kiss records out" Cheap Trick.

Boy am I loving Spotify. I'm not sure that those in the car are loving it when I am in control of reacquainting myself with all the old songs I grew up with. I imagine it is somewhat disturbing in the same way that the child in this song feels when he finds his parents rocking and rolling etc. I sing very badly and very loudly but with joy :)
The above is the Colonnades at Cape Woolamai. We planned on taking sunset shots from the beach. Two problems with that-the tide was coming right up to the cliff face and a storm was rolling in. Fortunately we were able to stand on the stairs and take images and watch the storm. It was magic so we just surrended to the storm.
He finally, after flying all around the pond, let me take his photo. And yep, I stuck him dead center in my photo too. Just a note; I never harass wildlife and try to keep an acceptable distance and am careful when shooting around their environment. This heron for example was on a small hill and across a stream.

Traveling from Lecce we stopped for lunch and a wander in Ortranto a walled city with a well preserved historic atmosphere and the distinction of being the most Eastern place in Italy as well as having some great places for a seafood lunch accompanied by a magnificent view of the Adriatic.
Captured in this view with my back to the sea is the statue dedicated to the Martyrs of Ortranto a story I didn’t know at the time of this visit, apparently at the end of July 1480 90 Turkish galleons arrived in the harbor with 18,000 troops and laid siege to the city, the town held them off for several weeks and would not surrender, from all accounts over 12,000 perished and some 5,000 were taken prisoner during the battle.
The legend says that the Turks rounded up 800 able bodies survivors with an ultimatum, convert to Islam or be put to death by beheading if they would not, all 800 perished that day, some say the Turks were so impressed with the display of bravery of the citizens and the faith of the martyrs that after losing the city they focused their conquests on easier prey and didn’t return to these shores.
I took this on Sept 25, 2016 with my D750 and Nikon 24-85 f3.5-4.5 Lens at 28mm 1/200s f/16 ISO 250 processed in LR, PS +Lumenzia, Topaz , and DXO
